I am SO glad that Tudor now has a tasting room! Our first time to Carmel(years ago) — we had wanted to try Tudor, only to find they didn’t have a tasting room. Now that they do? Oh man — we couldn’t help but stopping in! In my opinion — some of the best Pinot Noir offered from this area. LOVE their pinot noirs — all of them are so different, but all are such high quality. We also ended up meeting/chatting with the wine maker. He was so extremely friendly; he even offered the two guys hats on the house. The service was impeccable, and they were so gracious to us. The only downside is the price point on the tasting fee — definitely too high, in my opinion(I think it was $ 25−30ish or so??). I think they should consider lowering the fee or waive the fee with a certain number of bottle purchase.

We drove 4 hours from Berkeley today specifically to support this new tasting room. The posted hours are until 8:00PM on Fridays. We arrived at 6:50PM, and no one was there. Then, we stopped in to the adjacent restaurant to inquire, because we were told the restaurant was supposed to be featuring Tudor wines, but we’re then informed that there was some sort of miscommunication with the winery so the restaurant did not yet receive any bottles. L Recognizing that launching a new venture has its challenges, this does not leave a great first impression, Tudor. :(

I love this wine tasting room. Not only is this tasting room great, but so are all the 90 Point wines by Tudor. His Pinot Noir is probably one of the best you will find in the Santa Lucia Highlands and that is the reason he has such high points on most of his wines. I will definitely come back and try more wines. Great wines and great tasting room!

Meh, I’ve experienced better is def the correct statement. I was unimpressed with the wine, I felt it to be mediocre at best and extremely over priced($ 75 a bottle). The ambiance is not the best setting either, I was expecting a tasting room not a restaurant that seemed completely detached(no correlation whatsoever) to the wine. I heard about the Tudor tasting room through recent buzz in media and via the«Best of Wine Walk Passport» and thought I would check it out to see if it would live up to hype. Sadly it did not. I had a really difficult time finding the place and had to come back at a later time because the hours are very limited. Was not too impressed with the service either, the gentlemen pouring(maybe the owner?) seemed uninterested on educating us about the product. The fruit in the 2007 pinot seemed flat, not bright and which is a typically characteristic that I love out of the SLH appellation. I also noticed they didn’t have anything on the tasting list or to purchase after the year 2007, perhaps the winemaker is still perfecting his craft and some of his newer vintages may be worth trying, but most everything we tasted was sub-par to some of the highlands greats.

We are long time fans of Tudor wines. The tasting room is very much in keeping with Carmel’s quaint personality. The tasting experience was friendly and personal… it’s special and the wines are very special! Don’t miss trying some of this world class pinot noir! Nice wine walk and we have eaten at Bouchee’s at one of the Tudor wine dinners. Wine and food were excellent!

Located right in the hustle and bustle of Carmel by the Sea. The Tudor tasting room is within the Andre’s Bouchee restaurant. Mike was fabulous to talk to and he knew his wine as well as the surrounding areas. They make some really good Pinot Noirs that are worth seeking out.

Really enjoyed my tasting session here. Affordable tasting, nice stemware, and comfortable seating. The whole set up seems a little formal, like I’m about to receive a sales pitch on a timeshare, but just because its different than the normal bar set up, I’m not necessarily saying its bad. It was also nice that while it is a shared room in a restaurant, they’re not advertising the restaurant with your tasting. Also, the shared room part adds to the ambiance, with the interesting array of wine bottles to look at. As for the wine, I really enjoyed the pinots. They were well balanced and some were extremely smooth and elegant. None were complete fruit bombs while most were unique and something I’d want to bring out for special occasions. However, my wallet perhaps does not match my palette, and to me these wines were priced just a tad out of budget for me. But, all that being said, this was a pleasant experience and a place I will likely return to taste. Our hostess/pourer, I think her name was Colleen(I’m very embarrassed I don’t remember her name!), was extremely pleasant and professional about everything too. She gets an A+ as well! Will return.

I may or may not have had a tricky time getting into the tasting room, but once I got in, it was so worth it! Great wines, and a great owner! So it’s not my fault, but my pallet has been spoiled… maybe it’s a little bit of my fault. I just spent a month in France, and have had the privilege of barrel tasting some of the best 2010 grand crus in Burgundy. So long intro, but upon arrival the wine was introduced as a Burgundian Pinot, and I’m always a little skeptical when a Cali producer says that. This was def. the case, though. You can def taste the sun, aka ripeness, but it is well integrated. What a balanced delish wine! The winemaker was in, and what a great guy. He was so genuine, open and friendly.

Fun, delicious, well crafted small batch wines. If that’s not a beautiful thing, I don’t know what is! Great wine is not a luxury; it’s a necessity when you live in Monterey county. We are so lucky to live in an area with broad micro climates conducive to growing so many varietals. One of my favorite wines is Pinot Noir and the Santa Lucia Highland area produces some of the best wines in the country. A friend, Pat of , told me that SLH has won more Pinot Noir awards than any other California appellation — high praise indeed. Tudor is a newcomer to my palate and I had the chance to taste a few of their Pinots at the Santa Lucia Highlands Gala(BTW — if you haven’t been to this event please mark you calendar. Fantastic wines and all the best are represented here). My favorite at this event was their 2007 Tondré Reserve Pinot Noir — fully bodied to my palate, good tanins and nice balance of acidity and texture. A very, very good Pinot Noir! The owner, Dan, was there and it was fun to talk about how his vineyard and old world, hand-crafted techniques, are used in making this Pinot. They do not disappoint! It’s also nice that some of the better restaurants in our area are carrying this wine including Andre’s Bouchee. Enjoy!
