Best sushi in town HANDS DOWN! between 4 of us we ordered about 8 different rolls and every single one was AMAZING! You seriously will not regret eating here. So fresh and delicious!

I ordered a couple of sushi rolls to go. Had to wait longer than told over the phone but still gave it 4 Stars because it was tasty. A bit pricey but then again, average for Sushi. I got my sushi rolls fried so when I picked up my order and got home, it was fresh and eye appealing. I’d recommend if you’re in the area and feel like some Sushi.

Favorite sushi place in the area. I avoided it because sushi rolls were not half price but it turns out they are already pretty cheap. Got 3 rolls for $ 26. Good quality stuff and not too crowded.

We were super excited to try this place, living so close we hoped it would be our new sushi place.
It’s been over 30 minutes and no sushi. Ordered four simple rolls and it’s not too busy in here so not sure why it’s taking so long. If the sushi is decent I will make a new review. But as of now, we won’t be coming back!

4 stars for the food, 1 star for time. Do not come here if you are on a lunch break. Everytime I have been here there has been an average of a 15min per roll wait time. Today I called ahead to avoid wasting half of my break waiting. They told me 20mins, 20 mins later I showed up and they told me 20 mins again, a total of 40 mins for 2 rolls. Thats 20 mins per roll. It may be time to invest in an additional sushi chef. The wait just kills it for me… sushi is good though.

I love coming here during lunch time. Their combo teriyaki plate is only $ 10 for 2 items and $ 12 for 3 items. It’s really good and it also comes in a generous amount with salad and miso soup.
I usually always get the salmon and calamari. I love the sauce with the calamari. The calamari is soft and chewy inside. I also got the honey spicy chicken before and that was good as well. No complaints.
Sometimes when I don’t feel like getting a combo plate, I get sushi. I’ve tried their Sacto roll & Spicy Crunch roll before and both were really good. The Spicy Crunch roll is a deep fried roll with avocado, spicy tuna, cream cheese, and imitation crab meat. The Sacto roll has deep fried salmon, deep fried shrimp, avocado, spicy crab and crab meat. Both delicious.
The only complaint that I would have about this place is that sometimes they would be randomly closed! So don’t be surprised if you drove over here and they are unexpectedly closed for the day.

The sushi is really delicious. We went last night. They were really busy since it was a Friday night but the rolls were worth the wait. The sushi chefs put such care into what they make, you wont be disappointed. The staff was attentive and checked in since they knew we were waiting for our yummy rolls. We’ll be back!

Our first time here was an amazing experience. I was craving sushi all week and never realized this spot is right down the street from us– so convenient!!! And top on everything else, the food was top notch. Good quality fish, the rolls were the perfect size; House Rolls were under $ 10! We ordered 3 rolls and didn’t even get to finish it all! So worth the money and worthwhile! Service was great as well. :) My favorite sushi spot is in SF, so when I moved back to Sacramento, I was in search for another fave. I must say, it has to be Shogun Sushi! Plus, my best friend loves this place too!

Shogun is a nice place. It’s cozy, quite and tastefully decorated. The sushi were tasty, fish was fresh and the waiters were attentive. Four stars because it is a little pricy, along the prices of Mikuni. But overall a pleasant and tasty experience. We’ll go there again when in the area.

Jimmy and Paige are awesome. They make the best shrimp tempura in the Sacramento area. They treat you like family and are very kind.

Sometimes this place has slow service. However everything is so fresh and delicious that I keep coming back. The yuba city roll is awesome. Edamame comes out warm and salty. The handrolls are filled with goodness. Free soup…

LOVE this place! The employees are super nice, and the chef is absolutely fantastic! They remember your order and preferences, even if you haven’t been there in a long time! Their prices are reasonable, and competitive with other local restaurants. HIGHLY recommend!

Jimmy the sushi chef was excellent. Fresh fish and too many varieties of rolls. Next time I will try their jalapeño with crab meat deep fried. Looks yummy!

I’ve been a couple of times already and the restaurant is fairly small & intimate with 11 tables and the sushi bar. The place is clean and they buss the tables quickly. There were 2 waitresses and the sushi chef working for lunch on 10÷9÷15 Friday. Unfortunately my visit today with my kids didn’t turn out as well as the other times. There was a couple sitting next to us who were very loud talkers and the man took several cell phone calls. Unfortunately we all learned about his banking issues, problems remembering his phone passwords, having to put his infirm Mother into extended care and his female companion was just as loud, chiding him about his poor technological ability and her opinion about his Mother going into a «friggin» home. Nice! That, friends, is white trash! I really, really wanted the waitresses or sushi chef to say something – ANYTHING to these two pathetic m! They were louder than my 3 kids combined!!! Unfortunately, nothing was said and the rest of us had to endure in silence, only able to send frustrated, disgusted eye-​darts to these oblivious knuckleheads. Why don’t people know yet that its not appropriate to hold personal –private– cell phone calls in the middle of a small restaurant?!?

Other people hate when they go into a restaurant and there are children there. Yes, so do I which is why I train my children to respect and obey. These fools need to be informed of «shhhhhhhh!» enjoy your lunch quietly please!
So we had California rolls and assorted tempura for the kids and I got a churashi bowl with a big pot of hot tea. The Cali rolls (with pollock) were good & the kids enjoyed. I think the waitress forgot about the tempura order cuz I said «I think we’re ready for the tempura now» and she scampered back to bring it. I thought the fish was tasty with the salmon and yellowtail by far the best… melt in your mouth.
There were 3 tv’s showing various sporting events and they had 80’s music playing in the background. The ladies bathroom was clean which is a very good sign for a sushi restaurant! There was lots of parking shared with Planet of the Vapes & Brian Hoshalls. The one specific waitress we had gave us only okay service, mostly instead she floated around the side of the sushi bar. She brought us way too many dishes for our small table and just didn’t seem to get that kids only need 1 plate. Maybe she’s new or hasn’t waited on many families?
I gave 4* for the food and restaurant cleanliness but 2* for service and no stars for accepting rude, loud customers! Someone should’ve said something!
12÷17÷15− came for a late lunch, very comfortable and pleasant experience today! Sushi was delicious, service was friendly & attentive! Thank you

Good food. Came here for lunch and got the two items and three items plate with salmon, shrimp tempura and pork.
Didn’t know what to expect since it was our first time here, but quality was very good for what we ordered. Will be back when we are in the neighborhood.
If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would give it that.

Aesthetically I love the place… on top of that the food was top notch!
I had the unagi donburi. Unagi is one of my favorite things but a lot of places can do it quite the injustice. Shogun was right on the money… It was like I was back in Japan

Really glad to see that this place has improved and there seems to be a Carmichael following. Went here for lunch with some coworkers and watched as the restaurant filled up (a great sign).
Got a few rolls to share, miso soup, gyoza, and edamame (free with Unilocal check in).
Rolls were pretty good, but pricey. This place doesn’t have happy hour, half off rolls, or roll specials for that matter. The only lunch special is on teriyaki or a bento box. Why no sushi specials or happy hour at a sushi restaurant? It baffles me (and my staff) who all would actually come in more frequently instead of driving to Silver Sake to find more affordable sushi eats.
Edamame and miso were great. Gyoza was greasy — won’t order that again.
Service was decent, but I wouldn’t say it was the friendliest. More of a what-​do-​you-​want-​now-​here-​it-​is kind of attitude. We got what we needed fairly quickly and efficiently, but the welcome feel you expect wasn’t there.
Either way, a definite improvement from previous visits.

My boyfriend took me here for our first date and I could not be more happier with the choice! We’re both huge on Unilocal reviews and wanted to try something new and found Shogun :). We were greeted right when we came in and I must say, customer service is number one when I go somewhere because if I don’t feel welcomed, I most likely will not step foot into that place again. Great service, food and drinks. Also met the owner Jimmy that night and he was very polite. One of our favorite sushi spots now!

This is our go to sushi place! We always order nigiri as well as rolls because the fish is so fresh!
I have introduced many people to this place and everyone loves it. The owners are a great couple. Very hard working.
My favorite rolls are manzanita and flaming dragon.
