The stew… OMG. Everything we have had has been great. Did I mention the stew? Lol. Super nice staff and great food. Perfect dinner option for us.

I had the brisket, okra, and Mac & cheese. Don’t tell my grandma… But it’s definitely competition! Great food and should come with a warning label: «wear stretchy pants» :-)

Was excited about finding some good Q but Gps took us around in a circle and we got there 10 minutes to closing. Was more than happy to get to go order but we were kinda run off by the clerk. Shame. Won’t stop again and had a $ 50 order…

Everyone likes the type que they grew up eating for the most part. I have had que at 171 places so I have sampled many types. The que at Smitty’s is very good. The pulled pork is moist and tender and not greasy. The Ribs are some of the best that I have ever had. The slaw, beans, stew and potato salad all were very good. The only negative was the sauces. They were ok at best. Service was also good.

Did not enjoy. Pulled pork plate dry and Brunswick stew tasted scorched. Disappointed in the food. The service was great and very friendly.

NPS = 5 Service with a smile in a very quaint and unfamiliar area. We were looked at very differently upon walking in. Sort of the«…you ain’t from around here» look. Which is exactly what I wanted. We definitely were not from around here and we were looking to try the best food from around here. The BBQ was… okay. The ribs were dry rub and the homemade mild BBQ sauce was pretty sweet even though it’s consistency/viscosity wasn’t the thickest I’ve had. It was pretty watery. But whatever… it tasted good. They had sliced bread in ziplock bags. Different. I can dig it. The place resembles an old home turned into a restaurant. And when you’re making a trip from Atlanta to Asheville, this place makes it rather easy to just get off the highway and eat.

Smitty’s is one of those places that could go two ways, based on appearances. It looks like a collection of outbuildings on a ranch when it’s actually one of the best BBQ places I’ve been to in a while. The brisket was tender and moist, the fried okra was crunchy and fresh, and the offered sweet potatoes as a side! Kaitlyn was an excellent server, with equally good colleagues providing backup on refills and checks.

We are so lucky that my mom lives just down the road from Smittys! We get their pulled pork BBQ& Brunswick stew ALLLLL the time & not once has it been anything but excellent. I especially like how lean the pork is. Never an accidental mouthful of fat. So good! Look forward to it every time we visit home!

We found Smitty’s via Unilocal while stopping for gas on our way out of town for a long weekend. Although we were the only non-hunters in the establishment, the bbq was great and the prices were super reasonable. I think I had a brisket sandwich and the world’s most enormous iced tea. We also had a nice conversation with the guy running the place(Smitty? I guess we’ll never know.) This is place is one of the only non-fast food options in town, so if you’re passing through, definitely consider stopping here.

We found Smitty’s searching Unilocal for a local restaurant on the road as we traveled up i85 from Alpharetta. Not only was the food delicious and hearty, owner Smitty stopped by to chat and check that we were happy with our meal. I suggest the juicy smoked half chicken, sauce-free pulled pork(two sauces on the side), peppery green beans and excellent Brunswick Stew. The chocolate cobbler and blueberry cobbler cannot be missed. Great hospitality, real food and a charming, rustic dining room. Good value as well, definitely recommended for the traveler in search of some local flavor.

What a lovely place. Friendly service and good southern food. I was a bit surprised by the price, almost 15/person. But the portions were certainly large.
