Beas beerfest I’ve attended in SB County Si, El Guapo. There was a plethora of cerveza available at the beach. From a guest’s point of view, Surf N’ Suds had their act together. Having lived in the Pacific Northwest for almost a decade, I attended dozens of brew fest a year. It seems there’s a couple every month up there. As well there should be. But I digress. The point is, this is not my first rodeo. Entry was simple. No long lines split between the ticket buyers last night and then ordered by height with persons in flip flops moving to the front. You get my point, it was not complicated. And it worked. Very well. Once in, the tents were spread out. Plenty of room between each row and more than enough beer to go around. The few lines that formed, moved quickly but you had so many choices, lines were rarely more than 5 people deep. Lots of shade(2 tents and tables) and easy access to the portopotties to empty the tanks before the next round. Food was provided by 3 or 4 trucks and that’s perfect. Live music played the whole day and in the end, we walked to Amtrak and trained it back to Santa Barbara. Easy, Breezy, Beautiful. The fest was packed but that did not lead to long lines, a shortage of suds or disappointed drunks. I don’t know who organized this but please, volunteer for Zoo Brew, Brews at the Beach and whatever that one is called at Elling’s Park. All of which could use your expertise on how a beer fest should be run. I’m happy help too. Thank you Deepfest for putting on Surf N’ Suds and Iook forward to many more to come. Congratulations on a job well done.

Get your tickets early as this event sold out fast in its inaugural year(2013). I hear they are adding more breweries and more food options this year. A great time and great brews to taste.

lots of beers, fun people and delicious food. I think more food trucks would have made the event better. Cannot wait until next year!
