Two parties after me got their orders taken first. Not sure what that’s about. Oh well. Good food though:) and another staff redeemed the service. Attentive, conversational, and prompt. Raised initial rating from 3 to 4 stars.

Tried Sushi Teri yesterday for first time, overall it was good but not amazing Very nice location in heart of carp, and nice restuarant interior, friendly server and sushi chef The food was good, I got two rolls and some hamachi nigiri… rolls in photo I tried were, Linden roll and Bath Street roll, both good and nice presentation Everything was good, fresh was fresh and tasty, not huge pieces of fish on the nigiri but much bigger than I’ve had at some other sushi spots; the hamachi wasnt touching the plate on either side of rice roll, but it also wasn’t sliced thinner horizontally which is always a good thing Menu selection looked good and reasonable, majority of special rolls were between $ 9 and $ 12 will be back for more

Went here last night with co-workers. One of the ladies in our group of three is pregnant and a vegetarian, she is a good sport when she is with us meat eaters and ordered the vegetarian special. I notice this whining sound eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I realize its the sound coming from the refrigeration unit and think to myself, «this cant be good» but just let it go. When they bring our vegetarian her soup we ask if it was the soup for the vegetarian platter and the lady said«yes», and looked at us crazy, we then asked if the soup had meat in it and she said«yes the soup has fish in it» She then looked at us like we were crazy for asking why they would serve that with the vegetarian special? To save us from having to explain it too her I just traded my salad for her soup and went on. Well then after maybe a moment of the soup and salad arriving they brought the rest of the food at once. The staff is poorly trained and don’t seem to enjoy their work. Timing a meal to make sure people get the App then salad then entrée, so the customer can enjoy it — that would be something you would expect from a waiter or waitress. This place only has only food runners with little to no personality and no real care for the customer. They bring you food from the kitchen and drop it on the table and don’t come back to see how its going, if all is well, etc. We ordered 2 of the special apps one was fish cheeks with jalapeño and the other was a salmon dish. The fish was not cold and was a little gamey. I remembered the fridge, eeeeeeeeeee! and we decided that we would move forward. I had the tempura and teriyaki chicken special that came with 6 California rolls. The chicken was in small bits served in a tin foil bowl? on the side of the plate little to no seasoning and NO teriyaki sauce. I had to ask for a side of sauce. the tempura was ok two shrimp and plenty of veggies. California rolls had a strong mayo taste. After sitting there with the bill and waiting for people in our group to finish the food runner came by and asked if the bill was filled out and we said yes and she says«can I have it?» which as an ex waiter for about 12 years is a bit rude. The place was not full I saw at least 5 open tables so there was no need to do this. Here is a tip for you«food runner», once you drop the bill you only have to come every once in a while and ask if we need water. The bill is there, when we leave then you get it. Anyway she asks for the bill and then walks away no thank you, good bye, kiss my butt, nothing. Long story short, skip this place, if the food doesn’t leave a bad taste in your mouth the non existent service will.

This place is my favorite for sushi, fresh and yummy. However over time the standard of service has fallen gravely. I wasn’t even greeted for 15 minutes at the bar tonight. :(then the servers were annoyed to take care of me. Very poor service. I hope they work harder to take care of their customers because I love the food but don’t want to come back into this very cold environment.

I tried it for lunch and think it should be avoided. Alas, Carp being the tiny town it is doesn’t offer too much choice.

I drive down the 101 from the Bay Area to LA frequently. Whenever I can, I stop here for a meal. Their charashi bowl is fantastic and for the lunch special, it’s a great price! Love the people here and this something I always look forward to on my drive!

The small cabbage salad and the cherry blossom roll are a perfect lunch. The Sushi Teri in Carp is a nice change from some of the noisier, crowded restaurants downtown.

This place ISNEVEREVER open past 9pm or 9:30pm. They refuse service on a constant basis. The falsely advertise being open until 10pm. Their food is meh, but they are the only place in for sushi in the area. Do not believe their hours. If you are lucky to get past 9pm, you will be rushed at, and judged. Why are they even in business if they don’t want customers? Tonight was my LAST attempt to eat here.

I’ve been coming to various locations in this franchise for years, principally for the chicken and steak teriyaki dish. The salad that comes with it is quite good. Rice too. On this occasion came with to the Carp location with family. The mushroom dishy was very good but used a bit too much salt. The vegetable tempura dish was solid. They put quite a lot of tofu in their miso soup, a very good thing.

Generous portions. The best ankimo(steamed monkfish liver), hamachi jalapeño and Amber jack. Everything is fresh. Great service & friendly staff.

Staff happily sat our big group outdoors as we were unable to enjoy ourselves in the sweltering heat indoors. Forever grateful for that as there are only two big tables for two parties out back. We lucked out that night. Was happy they brought everyone’s sushi out at same time. Waitress was very friendly and attentive though our group requested water few times from other staff and we only received it as we were paying bill. There was a big salmon bone in one of my rolls, which was scary, but overall I was very happy with my order. I tried my friends chirachi bowl and found some of the fish to taste less than fresh so I completely understood why he didn’t finish it. Two rolls and a small beer was $ 40 before tip. Not a great feeling there, but when they are the only sushi game in town, what can you do?

The food is overpriced for the quality and quantity given. Waitress was rude and lacks integrity. I had accidentally given her more cash than I was supposed to. When confronted, she just ran away from me while denying such a thing. Plates and glasses were not cleaned properly. I really wished to have a good experience here since there aren’t many sushi places in Carpinteria… Santa Barbara or Ventura have better sushi choices for those who are interested.

Ok, this place has earned their bad review like you wouldn’t believe. First time around, they closed at 9:30 when their hours state that they close at 10. Ok, so I’m not going to write this place off because they are lazy and don’t want to work. I will, however, write them off and never, ever return because the one time I ordered a tuna salad and began to mix it, prepared to take a huge bite when I see that something beige and weirdly textured was hidden underneath my salad. Guess what I pulled out? A PAPERTOWEL. Yes, you read that correctly. A freakin wet paper towel. How’s that for a horror story? Vomit.

Good food, good service, decent prices. When I don’t want to go to a long dinner, I come here for a quick but tasty meal.

I don’t understand Unilocalers sometimes. I challenged myself going to under 3 stars place, it was good. I was excited to go to 4.5−5 stars place, it was terrible. This is a very decent Japanese place to go to. Foods are good, no wait, kids family friendly. Price is reasonable! The grilled yellow tail plate was awesome! Ahi Salad is fresh and tasty. Lastly, shoot yourself with some oyster for good :)

I’ve eaten here several times. Recently though, the place has been degrading. The food and service is no longer as good as it was a few years back yet their prices are rising. Today, I stepped into the restaurant and it was overwhelmingly filled with the smell of fish. It honestly smelled like a fish market. I ordered a calamari salad and a spider roll. The calamari was not even calamari and it was not fresh. There was extra liquid leaking from the salad(that should NEVER be the case with a salad). It looked as if it was pre-packed. The spider roll was over $ 10 and only had 6 pieces. There was a strong taste of the seaweed and it covered the taste of its ingredients. The service was also slow and the waiters were slow and did not really know what they were doing.

Not as solid as I was hoping for somewhere only a few blocks from the beach. They definitely charge appropriate to the location, but the quality and taste isn’t any different from my land locked city where I eat sushi regularly. I got a dragon roll which was tasty but not wrapped well as each piece fell apart when I picked it up. Also the proportion of each element seemed off… Too much avocado, not enough sauce, etc. I also got oysters for a special treat. They were again mediocre. I will probably return out of convenience. Attentive servers.
