Berskhire Manor, it is with a heavy heart that I bid adieu to you after 4 years. I did a lot of shopping around for apartments and settled on this gem when I realized that it provides everything you could possibly need at about $ 200 less than its competitors. Let me count the ways: — full size washer and dryer in every apartment — 2 bus lines directly in front of the complex with another bus line less than a 5 minute walk away — cable/internet all set up(included in rent for me, but now going for a cheap package for new residents — $ 49 I think) — 24 hour fitness center with a recently purchased elliptical and treadmill that have each seen about 500 hours of use from me alone — a super amazing staff that will accommodate to the fullest and is really friendly to boot(examples — didn’t pay any transfer fees moving back and forth between a 2 br and 1 br, didn’t pay an additional deposit) — 24 hour maintenance that is prompt and efficient — 2 large pools with cabanas — renovated apartments are coming in with built-in overhead microwaves to save counter space and potentially cash if you somehow don’t own one. — reasonable price increases if you renew early(typically $ 10 – 30 per year) Although I came extremely close to sticking around another 3 years, I am moving elsewhere, only because I found a space with an extra bathroom and 300 extra square feet(much more expensive naturally). So that may be the only reason Berkshire manor may not be for you. They only have 1 or 2 bedrooms, both with only 1 bathroom. There are plenty of families that live in the 2 bedrooms, so it’s certainly spacious enough for 2; I believe they are 950 sq. ft. If you study/work at UNC and are on any kind of budget, I honestly don’t think you can get more bang for your buck while meeting all the essentials and some. Bye bye Berkshire Manor. :’(
