Best cheese dip I’ve ever had. Large family meal and everyone liked what they got. The portions are huge for the price. Staff were fast and friendly.

In the off chance that another Californian finds him or herself in this corner of the world, rest assured that not all hope of a decent Mexican meal is lost. I happened to work in Carroll for a month and was really disenchanted with every food option I could find, including options found in grocery stores. I know we’re spoiled by fresh produce on the west coast, but good lord… everything I tried seemed bland or heart attack friendly. I had made an effort to avoid ethnic cuisine given the lack of ethnic diversity in town, but finally threw in the towel and gave this place a shot. All I have to say is that I should have done it sooner! The fajitas were delicious and the frozen margarita was nice and strong. Out of town-ers stopping through should head straight to Rancho Grande and forget the rest. Actually, rumor has it the winery on the highway does pretty good meals, but when you need a little spice in your life, this is the place.

Service was… Ok. Food was different. Tasted alright but to a true Texan this wasn’t good Mexican food at all! Drinks were 2.75 for a soda! Kids too!!! Beans were the kind that you add water too and mix. Tasted horrible!!! Not worth the price, the time or the food.

Fantastic food, good prices, quite authentic. I had shrimp fajitas, they were great. Coworker traveling with me had burritos, also thought they were fantastic, and we’re both big guys and left stuffed, and with a good chunk of our per diem money left to boot.

To say the least, I’ve been pretty happy with the food at Rancho Grande. It’s definitely one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants that I have ever been to. Wait staff is excellent, checking in just enough to see if you need a refill or another beer, as well as keeping a constant flow of chips and salsa on the table.

Rancho has been one of the highlights of my several visits to Carroll. Good Mexican food, drink specials and a nice patio during the summer. They may have the most vegetarian options of anyone in this part of the state, and good spicy salsa on request. Even spotted Obama’s staff hanging out here after a campaign event last year!
