Love Dollar General. I agree with Mary that it is actually more like a mini grocery store than what I think of as a dollar store. I mostly like that you can park right outside the door and run in and you don’t get gouged this at a gas station convenience corner store(and their is more selection)

I am a fan of Dollar General. For years and years I saw Dollar Generals all around town and really had the wrong idea as to what a Dollar General is. I had thought that Dollar General was an everything is a dollar junk store. But a friend who had had previously thought the same thing corrected me and turned me on to them. DG really isn’t a junk store at all; it really isn’t a «dollar» store. It really is basically more like half way between a decent sized convenient store and a small grocery store. About a third to half the store is groceries and a third to half the store is household items(paper towels, dish soap, light bulbs, trash bags, candles, etc) and then there are some random seasonal items and some clothing(socks, t-shirts, baby onesie with a UT Longhorn logo, etc.) Most everything is brand-name, although they do have a good amount of their Dollar General brand next to the brand name items. The whole Extra Strength Tylenol vs. Extra Strength Dollar General same colored box same ingredient fake Tylenol. It doesn’t replace a Costco or Sam’s trip but if you just need the regular household items it is much easier and less painful to stop in there to get allergy medicine, a razor, laundry detergent, a 12 pack of coke and some cereal, then to go to the nearest Walmart or giant grocery store. Their prices are pretty good, especially if you get their generic brands. Dollar General is not a place I go all the time, but they have tons of locations and now that I actually know what they are, I find myself stopping in there way more often than I ever thought I would.
