Delicious, authentic, and cheap dim sum. For those of you who have been living in Dallas a while, this name might be familiar. Yes, the owners/chef are the same folks that used to run Hong Kong Royale in Richardson from 1985 – 1998 in the same space that Kirin Court is now. They dropped the«e» from Royale and moved to Carrollton. The dim sum experience is different than what you get at Maxim’s or Kirin Court. There’s a little less diversity, but I think that the quality of the standard dim sum fare is actually higher. Think small batch, homemade(I’m reluctant to use the term artisanal for fear of sounding like a hipster, but that’s exactly what I thought of after I took a bite of the egg tart 蛋撻(amazing flake crust, handmade in the«thousand layer» style). The steamed cha siu bao 叉燒包 was also exceptionally good. Yes, the interior and décor are a little bit run down, but the service was intimate and friendly. This place is not for everyone and if you tend to judge a book by its cover, then I would stick with Kirin. But if you’re after a superb dim sum experience, it’s worth your while to drive out here.

I visited this place on a Saturday afternoon with a party of five for dim sum. The staff and service were very nice. The dim dum was below average. We tried lots of dim sum and ordered a few things off the menu. The restaurant is older and in not so great shape. The food is not so great. We won’t be back. They need to refresh the physical plant and food. I wish it was better.

Great dim sum! Lots of variety in the menu and nice servers. Didn’t take long for the food to come at all. The shrimp dumpling, sticky rice in lotus leaves, pork dumpling are delicious. A side of Chinese cabbage blends in well with everything.

Excellent place. Recommend the half duck, the young chow fried rice and chicken and mushroom. Hot and sour soup was also very good. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was not crowded! The have eat in and takeout. We ate in and they were very attentive. We only had one item on the Dim Sum menu and ordered the rest off the standard menu!

Was hoping for a good dim sum lunch. I was reviewing on Unilocal about this place and so many people said authentic food. I have to say I’m very disappointed with the food and service. It is not authentic and there are other dim sum much better than this place. When we got there, there were barely anyone there. We felt attacked and pressured by the waitress. As soon as we sat down she asked us if we are ready to order. We asked to give us a moment to look at the menu. She came back and asked us what we wanted. She kept asking if we wanted this or not. So we ordered fish maw soup, pork dumplings, duck, Chinese broccoli, rice, bun, spare ribs. The fish maw was so fishy that we can not take another sip. Told the lady that it tasted bad and very fishy. She said it was supposed to be fishy since there are crabs in it. I do not think so, I’ve tasted fish maw soup from other restaurants and it was not fishy like this place. She also told us there’s nothing wrong with the soup and we were the only person complained about the soup. I’m sorry, but we’re not coming back to this place. There are other dim sum place that we can go to with better service.

Very good food but Kirin Court is better. I like the sauce on the pan fried item. They even made it veggie for me! Very good customer service. It wasn’t that busy the day we went there but they had exactly what my boys wanted, the shrimp dumplings. My boys ate their fill. I had my favorite of pork shumai and sticky rice. But the the best thing I had were their custards! Had a sort of subtle almond aftertaste, after a semi sweet egg custard which was perfectly cooked. Not burnt but still not an inch of runny custard and such a crispy crust! I like the food here and would definitely be back for the custards!

Great dim sum in the area, this place reminded me of Vietnamese wedding foods. Especially the fried shrimp balls. But my favorite is definitely the chicken feet. I would recommend this place to any dim sum and Asian cuisine fans.

The food is authentic and really delicious! We’ve been looking for a nice cozy dimsum place and this is it. Price is fair compare to Kirin’s. I recommend the pork bbq, shrimp ball, spareribs, shumai, yang chow fried rice, turnip cake and pork siopao. I don’t like the congee here, it’s too much watery.

My family and I have been coming here for dim sum for several years. We are always very satisfied with all their food and friendly service. Definitely best dim sum in town. We love the duck and bbq Pork buns as well.

This isn’t the best dim sum in town, but it’s cheap and service is very nice! I would come back if I were in the area and craving dim sum. It’s a pretty big restaurant, although it wasn’t busy at all while we were there. We could tell from the server/customer interactions that regulars come by here all the time. All their standard dim sum dishes are decent. Not worth a far drive, but do stop by if you’re from around here!

Went here for lunch and it was pretty good. There was one thing that was odd though. We were literally the only people in this gigantic restaurant. I’m not sure if it was an off day or they are just a weekend spot. Either way, pretty good food so I’d probably come back again, but just not at lunch. However, it was kinda nice having the entire wait staff for our table, haha!

Maybe they changed their chef or something, maybe I came the wrong time??? Where’s the authentic Chinese food? I came here for lunch. The moment I stepped into this place, I knew the food isn’t gonna be gods. The service was fine but the food… I came here with a friend. We ordered Beef fun roll, steam short ribs, pork dumplings with bird egg, stuffed tofu and stuffed egg plants. The only thing I could tell was freshly cooked was the egg plants which tasted alright. All other dishes were not fresh nor tasted authentic in anyway. I really hate to give bad reviews to Chinese restaurants, cause there are not that many around. But this one is just so bad that I have to warn my fellow foodies about it. Don’t have DimSum here!!!

I love this place simply because it is close to where we live, and service is good and staff is friendly, which is so rare for a Chinese restaurant. I lived in Guangdong for 3 yrs when i was younger and even though this place isn’t as crowded as Kirin court, the food is just as authentic and good. Why drive to richardson and wait in line for a table when we can come here and get better service for the same price and quality of food?!

We love this place. 2nd best dim sum in Dallas(first being Kirin Court) — and they are about 5 minutes from our house(whereas the other is 30 minutes). The place is operated mom and pop style — husband is the head chef(and an amazing one at that) and wife runs the tables. The food is cooked to order so they serve DIMSUMALLDAY — which is great for us due to work schedules. We’ve never been there in the weekend so I don’t know if they do carts — mostly for us it is weeknights where they are usually not super busy(though they have a brisk take-out business). The food is awesome — I have not had a mediocre meal there yet. I am keen on the pork buns, bbq fun noodles, and tsui mai — my wife likes their egg tarts and turnip cake — and my kids love the beef balls/egg tarts/sticky rice Bottom line — we love this place and I hope others will too.

So my mom went to Hong Kong for a long vacation. Therefore, I need to either cook or bump around for food. So this time, a friend’s mom invite me to dinner to Hong Kong Royal. Well perfect, love Chinese food and don’t even need to bother to cook:). So we have so many dishes I didn’t even remember how many were there. But my favorite one were the salt and pepper turnip cake with oyster, garlic carb with vermicelli, and the ginger and green onion lobster with noodles. Well, I am a big seafood fan, so maybe that’s why I like all the seafood. So I will imagine most people have salt and pepper toss squid, pork chop, shrimp. But who will have salt and pepper toss turnip cake before? It was actually really really good and with the oyster mixed, it was perfect. What I like about the garlic carb with vermicelli is that the shell of the carb is so soft that you can easily bite it with your teeth. I have try ginger and green onion lobster in many different places in Dallas and of course Hong Kong, and the one I ate at this place was pretty close to the one I ate at Hong Kong. The ginger wasn’t too strong I can still taste the freshness of the lobster. So overall, this is a pretty authentic Hong Kong style restaurant in Dallas. I will definitely recommend this place if anyone is desire for some good Chinese food. So one piece of advise, stay close and become good friend with your friend’s parent. It will get you some free good food etc lol so thank you friend’s mom:) lol

whoa there is like only 5 table for lunch in this big restaurant. Is order to serve cause there is no customer. The dim sum is ok. Nothing special. Also order the duck noodle soup. The duck was pretty good. I am just trying new Dim Sum place around Dallas. So I know where to go next time I am in town. Probabl will not go back to this place.

This place is so bomb! I had dinner here with my family and we all loved it! They serve dim sum all day too! The chicken feet is the BESTIVEEVERHAD – and I’ve had a lot! I literally ate two orders by myself. The sauce is a rich black bean sauce. And so tender! Man, I want some now. They also have a secret menu item called«rich mans fried rice.» It has fish eggs, Chinese sausage, BBQ pork, and other deliciousness. The thing that sets this place apart is the amazing service. Daughter and son run the front while dad cooks in the back. The cook is exteremly friendly and always makes sure that you enjoy your meal. Love this place! Highly reccomended for authentic Cantonese food!

I came here for dinner on Mother’s Day. I figured I would try something different. For Chinese food I would say it’s ok. The owner was very nice and we were the only one there. I’m assuming it’s busy at lunch because they have a cart of dim-some which we missed. We ordered about 7 items and it came to 50 bucks and still had left overs. The price was reasonable. The place is large. We ordered seafood soup and they put a lot of seafood in there. I had to ask for white rice or else it wasn’t offered. BBQ Duck was tasty crunchy lots of flavor. The BBQ buns were wonderful. Egg rolls were different from any others I tried I guess bc it’s real Chinese egg rolls. Reviews were right shrimp and spinach dumplings were tasty. Fried noodles were a little greasy though. Overall glade I have this place a try.

A group of 20 of us dined her for Dim Sum on Sunday. Situated in a large shopping center, I was surprised to find the inside of this place is extremely large. We were seated at two large tables to the side of the restaurant. At first, the servers totally ignored and forgot all about us until we flagged them down for food, but once we got the party started, boy, did it get started! We ended up ordering most everything on the carts and even ordered a few special off-the-cart menu items. The service ended up being impeccable, with the owner stopping by numerous times to make sure we were getting enough food and even asked if we were full and satisfied in Chinese at the end of the meal. Our group really appreciated the special attention and overall, the dim sum was good! Saying it’s the best dim sum I’ve ever had is a stretch, and it’s certainly a small selection, but I think overall it was good enough and definitely bonus points for the great service!
