I do have a heart and it is fine. That was the good news I got from a last minute visit to Carson Tahoe Cardiology. I was scheduled for surgery when my pre-op EKG came back as «irregular». My orthopedic surgeon, cautious man that he is, wanted me to get checked by a cardiologist. Since the EKG results were not delivered to my surgeon by the imaging center until three days before the surgery, his office set up an appointment for me to get my heart checked. I was very happy with the service and treatment I got from Dr. Tann and the friendly staff here. I was, needless to say, a little stressed by the whole thing. Dr. Tann took a great deal of time to talk to me and took a very thorough history in a calm and reassuring manner. Since the imaging center did not send him the actual printout of the EKG, he had another one done at his office. He sat with me and went over the findings and showed me where the irregularity was, and then assured me that all was within normal limits and that I was not in imminent danger of having a heart attack or dying on the operating table. As I was leaving, the lady who checked me out smiled very kindly and said, «I hope we have no reason to ever see you again.» It was funny and very sweet. If I do have need of a cardiologist, hopefully in the very distant future, I will know exactly where to go.
