I was really hoping this location would have been better than the Reno/​Sparks locations but that wasn’t the case on my last visit. The main reason I went here this time around was because Blake, the normal rep I deal with in Reno was transferred here. I’m not giving 3 stars because of his service, but just basing it on my complete experience.
Blake has always been friendly and was when I went in to place my tire order. He was professional and even recommended a tire I hadn’t considered which was of similar performance but was a different brand which ended up saving me money.
I was disappointed when it came to the rest of the service experience. I never received a call when my tires arrived, I had to call them to see if they were in. A different rep had told me they were in and that they could have had a wrong phone # to contact me at. I verified on my receipt that they did have the right number and this was likely just a standard excuse.
The next issue was the time it took to complete the mount and balance of my 4 new tires. Their standard is to have a car in and out in about 40 mins or so they tell their customers. I had an hour lunch and work 5 minutes away so I thought that would work out great, however, it did not. I had an appointment for 1 pm and arrived a few mins early. They didn’t physically start working on the car until after 1:30, which left me leaving at after 2pm once the work was complete. I guess I’m stuck going back to the Reno store on a saturday.

Giving 2 stars because of how much I USED to love this place, they had good deals and great service but now they are useless and just about sales. They Tried to up sell me on tires I didn’t need and only presented me with the sales when I was about to walk out without purchasing any tires at all. Then a day or two after they put on brand new tires my tire pressure light came on, when I brought it in to be checked first they told me I had no tire pressure sensor, apparently my light is purely for decoration, when they finally found my sensor they assured me nothing was wrong with my tires or my sensor it just needed to be reset. Well a week later I got a flat because there was a screw in my tire! Apparently my tires were not ok and my sensor was working just fine, it was warning me just like it should be and had they actually looked at my tires instead of just telling me they did maybe it would have been fixed in the first place, then still instead of apologizing for their mistake they tried to blame my sensor again claiming it was not very accurate (literally never seen that light on before this incident) and it was just a coincidence the screw was in the tire now, what a strange coincidence! A tire pressure light on and then a screw that caused low tire pressure, yup that couldn’t possibly be related.

Do not go here unless you absolutely know exactly what you need, or you’re with someone that knows about tires and what to get for your vehicle also. They will try to sell you the most expensive tire, will tell you you absolutely need a new tire (instead of just fixing the hole in your tire like you asked). Their warranty doesn’t mean anything to them. unless they were just pulling a fast one over me. They also will try adding more to your bill without letting you know what they’re putting.
Try a smaller business before going to a bigger corporation like this. People that work for places like this just try to scam you out of your money. Especially if you show any trust in them, they will try to take advantage of you.
I don’t know if I’m just being crazy, but after my service here, my brakes didn’t feel as great as they were before taking it in. My break pads were brand new, I just got them done at a Big O’s a few days before. But now, since being at Discount Tires, it takes a lot longer to stop than before. I don’t know if they didn’t tighten my tires all the way, or if they accidentally messed with the brakes or what! But something is definitely different. I’d try someplace else before going here.
I only wish I could give them zero stars.

Had 2^nd thoughts on a purchase I made, went back in and Blake and Zach made it right! great service! in and out quickly! highly recommended!

This is my 3^rd purchase here. Pleased as punch all 3 times. This morning I tried Costco Tire Center & had a horrible experience after driving 45 miles in a scary snowstorm on bald tires only to be turned away by morons who gave me bad information over the phone the previous day. Costco really blew it, I was frozen & almost in tears when I decided to try Discount Tires and they saved the day!
Not only did they have the Bridgestones I wanted but the price was almost the same as Costco. Of course they were slammed with our first fall storm but remained courteous & polite to everyone keeping me informed of the progress of my car. Zak was my tire expert & I’m totally happy with the service & excellent product. Next time I’ll make an appointment then walk across the street to Applebees for a cocktail.

Never again.
48 hours after I but 4 new tires and one is already flat. I call to ask how they are going to fix it and apparently I have to get off work and change into a spare (mind you I am in a skirt and heals) then drive to them.
At least Less Schwab comes to me.
So disappointed. I guess you get what you pay for.
The only reason I am okay with any stars is the customer service (before flat) was good.
UPDATE– my tire was installed with a broken valve stem and my pressure sensor was floating around inside my tire. Almost 100 to fix cause I could not get back to Carson to have them look at it.
Side note… I told them I was leaving for a 700 mile trip to move my parents… Thank you for making sure I was safe.

I actually have had quite a few experiences with this location since they opened several years ago. All my experiences have been very positive. However I normally deal with Zach. He is a great guy and also strives to give great customer service and great prices. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and professional in person or on the phone when I am just inquiring on prices and information. I have ordered wheels and tires etc… on several occasions and every experience has been a good one. So if you are in need of tires and or wheels come see Zach for exceptional service.

Last night I purchased a set of tires for my Ford Raptor. The store was absolutely packed with customers and as usual Zach offered outstanding customer service to all. It seemed to be just another outstanding experience at Discount Tire. When I got home I noticed that 3 of my Fuel Trophy wheels had been slightly damaged upon de and remounting of the new tires. So I went back to the store the next morning knowing I was in for in for a heated discussion. I always praise the customer service at this store but now it was about to be tested. Without any hassles Zach said he was sorry for the problem and would take care of it. WOW, no hassles, no arguing no excuses just good old fashion customer service. It says allot for the integrity of Zach and the staff at Discount Tire in Carson City Nevada. Hands down the BEST customer service around !!!

The best customer service I’ve ever experienced at any car service center. Alan an Blake were the two men who helped us, although other people did the actual physical labor. Everyone was very friendly, and my tires we’re changed super quickly and efficiently. I live in LA but if I lived anywhere within realistic driving distance, I would definitely choose them to give my business to. Customer service, like the kind we experienced there, is hard to come by!

I had driven my car up to Carson last week and I had a little time to kill between activities. I passed this Discount Tire store on the main drag in Carson City. I bought my tires in CA at America’s Tire Store, which is the same company as Discount tires, just a different name in the west coast states due to trade name conflicts. So, it’s all the same. Anyhow, I needed a tire rotation, and if you buy tires here, they’re FREE, along with rebalancing the tires as well.
I pull in and a friendly fellow (all clean cut and smiling) comes out to greet me. I tell him just a rotation and balance. We go in and he takes my info and looks up my car on the computer, I have my receipt with me just in case. Not too many cars ahead of me, so it’s just 30 minutes and I’m all done! The waiting room is super clean and doesn’t smell all of tires … you know that new tire smell that men love to sniff? Weird, but OK, whatever. I actually saw a guy do that once, putting his nose to the treads!
One reason you should buy here, is the way they bolt up your wheels back to the car. Most tire shops will just use the air gun wrench thingy and bang back on the bolts or lug nuts to tighten them … wham wham wham … and done. Not here! Here, they only use the air wrench to put them on medium tight and finish by hand tightening with a torque wrench so proper tightness is applied. You might ask, so what the diff, the wheels are on? Those monkeys that just blast on the nuts with that air wrench will most likely OVER tighten your wheels, and then if you ever get a flat and need to undo them, they’ll be on so tight, you’ll never get them off with the hand wrench in the trunk, or they might even mess up the threads on the bolts, by not hand starting the threads before hitting with the air wrench. This place and Costco are the only places that I know that have a policy of hand tightening the bolts to your car. That alone is a real reason to come to Discount Tires.
I tell my BF I got rotated, so he takes his truck down there the next day. They always check your tires for wear and defects whenever you come in. They told him, the 4 year old Michlins he had were cracking with age already and Michlin has a 5 year warranty for aging. He still had half the tread left, so Discount Tires offered to do the warranty and give 50% cash back on his old tires to by a brand new set. Trade 4 year old tires, and get new ones for half off? Hell yeah! He got almost $ 320.00 off the new set! Now how’s that for service! No hassles and new tires! For service and long term coverage, Discount Tires is the place to go!

A: change your own damn tires, it’s really not that hard and it costs less time money and grief.
Q: How can you be smarter than I was without having to get your hands dirty?
A: Go to an independent tire shop instead!
Not only will you support a local business, but you’ll get the work done cheaper by someone with pride in their work and years of experience.
And best of all, in the off chance they strip or break one of your studs they are fully capable of fixing their own messes. In fact, when Discount Tire screws up they will send you to a local shop anyways since they lack the skills to fix their own problems (We were sent to Breaks and Alignment Plus in Carson City and I can definitely recommend them).
Q: How do you get accountability, apologies or compensation when you lose time and money due to Discount Tire’s mistakes?
A: I have absolutely no idea since all we got were excuses and empty promises of being called back.
20 days later we’re still waiting for a call from the manager whom we were promised a call from on two different occasions.
The closest thing we got to compensation was an offer to get $ 20 off the tire change that they had already screwed up once, great freakin deal. Even with a discount they wanted more money than what we ended up paying Breaks and Alignment Plus to fix their mistake as well as get the job done right.

Stay away! They are only interested in selling you as much as they can. While bringing up a quote on new tires my salesperson took a call and proceeded to start a quote for them while ignoring me!

I buy all my tires here. For my Jeep Wrangler and Honda Accord. Everyone has always been helpful but today I had to write a review because I just came to have my air pressure checked, and Allen noticed my front tires were wearing out. I listened to his recommendations and he listened to my situation, and we were able to get me back on the road for a super fair price. Even if I’m working with a different associate, Allen has always been around to say hi. I just really appreciate good service when it happens, and it happened today especially, and every time I’ve been here!

Fabulous lightning fast service for tire rotation. Friendly and professional staff. Clean waiting area and sanitary restrooms. i highly recommend this shop to customers!

Three months into our studded snow tires we got an u repairable flat. Of course at 3 pm on Saturday afternoon.
The guys put the spare and ordered a new tire, that arrived in four working days. The charge for a $ 350 tire. 38.50. I’m impressed and will be back for more

Great staff that’s willing to work with you. Got things done in a timely manner. The guys rush to open the door for you as soon as they see you walking towards them. Love that! Plus when they’re finished they call you by name instead of car. Very personal and will come back to get my tires rotated for free!

We had enough time to get the tires rotated. We are from out of state and purchased the tires at a sister company. No hassle for the complementary rotation… just typed in our phone number and pulled up our info.

Absolutely fantastic customer service! The store is neat and clean. The staff is well-​dressed, professional and friendly.
I came by for a complementary tire rotation (even though I had purchased my tires at a different location). As I got out of my truck, I was approached in the parking lot by one of the employees who took down my mileage and drove my truck into one of the service bays. After a brief friendly conversation with some of the guys behind the front desk, they pulled my truck up in front of the store, handed me my keys and I was on my way. Less than 10 minutes. Great job Carson City Discount Tire staff! I recommend this place to anyone. It’s not just about getting a good deal on your tires, but about the people that back up what they sell.

Traveling through town in our RV, we needed a tire changed out on our tow vehicle. Stopped in here and:
1. Two service people (one from the desk and one from service area) came out to meet us in the parking lot as we got out of the RV.
2. They took care of it right away in the parking lot with a smile.
3. They didn’t charge us a dime but we gave the tech $ 10.
THIS ALL OCCURRED IN THE POURING RAIN! Thank you, guys.

Made an appointment to get my tires rotated, balanced, and checked. Took about fifteen minutes.
Handed me back my keys and my locking lug nut thingie and said, «Everything is great! Have a nice day!»
Kinda weird walking away without having to pay.
