Eat here!!! My truck broke down so I started walking, low and behold like a ray of light here was this shop. These people made my day. The food was fantastic, and the people here were friendly and nice. They even showed me the perfect constancy for masa. I hope to return to this spot again.

Honestly I was actually hesitant to go in as it’s not the most appealing location. However, this is the best Mexican food I have found in the 10 years of living here. I will drive the 35 miles from my house to eat here. Authentic, fresh and delicious!

Truly authentic Mexican food. I stopped to get gas and next, attached to the gas station is this little kind a hole in the wall restaurant. Unilocal showed good reviews and I was hungry so why not. The service was prompt even though it was already at capacity. Ended up sharing a table. The food was AWESOME, very fresh and full of flavor. Much better than expecting. For the burrito, they give it to you and you dress it up with what you want from salad bar, same for the taco. I will be here again.

We found this place while visiting the area and craving Mexican food. Tucked away right next to a gas station — Food was soo fresh and authentic! I had carne asada tacos and my husband had a carne asada burrito. Delicious!

Totally worth every penny! I love street tacos(meat, onion, cilatro, sour cream) and this place hit the spot! It was a little odd that they give you your item with just meat and you fill up at the toppings bar before you pay. I got the 3 beef tacos with beans and rice. All for about 8 bucks. I was very full. It took about 5 minutes of waiting so great for lunch too. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Just to show you guys, I don’t always just go to high end fancy eateries, I’m here at Taqueria Fuentes which is out in eastern Carson City(the not fancy side). It’s a little hole in the wall type Mexican food taqueria connected to a run down gas station. Look for the gas station, Country Store I think it’s called. Coming here I think I’m in East Oakland… except for the surrounding desert that is. A friend told me about this place so here we are. Being from Oakland, this place isn’t really all that scary. Entering we see a menu of all the normal stuff you see, like different meats and burritos, meat plates, enchilada plates and tacos. The taco’s are really cheap, like a buck or so each. This way of serving tacos surprised me a bit when I first ran into the dollar taco. I was used to, well, the American way, where you get a taco and it comes with meat lettuce cheese and salsa already assembled. Yeah, like Taco Bell! Many Mexican places serve tacos, I suppose it’s more authentic, the local way here, with just 2 soft flour tortillas topped with a bit of meat. Cheese is extra I guess. When I first got that, I’m lookin’ at it and thinkin’ WTF? Where;s the rest? Well, you are suppose to top it from the salsa bar and then eat it. The salsa bar here at Taqueria Fuentes is pretty extensive. You can load on all you want! There is a sign telling you not to get too carried away to be fair and keep prices low. So I get 4 tacos and my BF gets the steak burrito. I like beef in my tacos, so that’s what I got. The burritos are reasonably priced, $ 5 to $ 7. That sure beats the $ 10 burritos in the Bay Area! The odd thing is the burrito is served with the meat, flour tortilla unrolled, then you go to the salsa bar and add everything you want, onions, cilantro, salsa, sour cream or anything else. Then bring it back to the guy and he will roll it for you. We decided to just load up at the salsa bar and forget the rolling. I think you can pile in more stuff that way … I garnish my taco with everything that looks good, cilantro, onions and sour cream. I love sour cream in my taco! The burrito returns from the salsa bar like a huge dome of food on a flour tortilla. We eat inside. There’s not a lot of seating and looking around, you know this is a pretty authentic place. The food tastes delicious! My little soft taco was juicy with all the salsa dripping out. My BF’s burrito was generous with the amount of meat and looked all huge with all the stuff from the salsa bar. After eating 4 tacos, I was filled and happy. My BF barely finished the burrito. The flavors here are distinct and fresh, way better than some chain Qudoba or Chipotle place. The chairs might be cleaner at Chipotle, but the food is better here! If you get to Carson City, check this place out. Inexpensive, authentic and good!

I love this place! Its a hole in the wall, but the food is fantastic and has been great every time. This is not your gringoized version of Mexican food but the authentic way of being done. Prices are very good and the portions are big. If you really love Mexican food done right this is the place to go. If your looking for taco bell style stay away.

This is attached to a gas station and I wasn’t expecting much. Kinda strange setup, order your burrito, they hand it to you and you put toppings on it and hand it back to them and they roll it for you. I had ordered a pastor burrito and it was good. Slightly greasy. I do like that you can top it the way you want. Good prices.
