First timer … I got the 3piece fish fillet sole with 10 medium shrimp, 5jumbo shrimp with fries, 7 wings with fries and a cheesecake … I felt the fish, shrimp n wings needed more seasoning … That cheesecake tho!!! Is beyond amazing if anything I’d be back for the cheesecake but not the fish, shrimp or wings

I generally get my southern style fried fish from Louisiana Hometown Seafood, but a couple of days ago I checked Unilocal and found that Ann’s Fish Market with comparable reviews was closer to me so I decided to give it a try. Ann’s Fish Market is located in the same lot as Wal-Mart’s neighborhood market so location and parking are pretty easy. At lunch time the place was empty and when I walked in I was promptly greeted. While perusing the menu I was given a recommendation of the daily special which comes with 3 pieces of fish and 10 shrimp along with two sides and a dinner roll for $ 8.99. When asked what fish I wanted I went with catfish and got yams and greens as my two sides. I gave my card to pay but noticed that the total was close to $ 12 which just did not seem right to me so I stopped the transaction and asked. It seems that there is an addition 50c for catfish and 75c for using cards. Now I don’t mind if a business has some up-charge and\or service charges, but I’d like to be told about them upfront not when paying. Anyway I changed my selection of fish to sole which is another mild fish and paid by cash. Next it was a 10 minute wait to get the food another 10 minutes to get home and start eating(there are a couple of tables there to eat but essentially this is a to-go place). The first thing that struck me was the tiny fillets of fish but as long as they tasted good I would be fine. Unfortunately that was not the case. The fish was soggy and limp. It felt almost stale. The batter used was bland and tasteless. I mean this is southern style fish fry with batter that is generally used for Japanese tempura so to me it was a complete waste. The shrimp were small butterfly shrimp but were a lot better than the fillet of sole, again the same batter was used so it was a let down. The sides in one word were terrible. The collard greens had a bitter taste which means they were not cooked through. The yams felt starchy and did not have a hint of sweetness. Both the sides were confined to the trash after a couple of bites each. These were the worst southern style sides that I had ever had. My recommendation would be to stick to french fries and coleslaw if you plan to come here. Tiny fish fillet’s in bland batter, terrible sides, horrible policies at expensive prices is how I would sum this place up. My return here is completely ruled out. I’m sticking with Louisiana Hometown Seafood.

Although I’m still not pleased with the $.50 up change for catfish(hidden signage) both my wife and I are so very pleased with the food and we will definitely be returning.

Oooooooooooooooooooooh my goodness I have been craaaaving fried fish for the last 5 days and HOTDIGGITYDOG I have been satisfied! The gentleman who worked the counter was very kind and made me immediately feel welcomed The fish was delicious and HOT! I drove it to my job(and munched some on the way there :-)) which is about 5 – 7 minutes away opened the box then had to do something in the other room for another 5 minutes and the fish was STILL Burn-your-tongue-if-you-don’t-blow-on-it-first HOT! I love that! They have different daily specials and I caught a good one! 9.99(11 after tax) 4 peices of fish and 10 shrimp! and 2 sides I loved the seafood the hush puppies were great! I like my greens with a hint of sweet and these had a more vinigar kick to them So they were good, but not my preference if you like tangy greens then these are right up your alley! The roll was the perfect mix of soft, a lil’ sweet and thick! I loved my meal! Ann my friend, You fry some good fish! I suggest you give them a try!

Glad I Unilocaled this place. I was at work craving fish. I ordered over the phone and 10 mins later I picked up some piping hot buffalo fish today. It kinda tasted like they’d fried alot of oysters today but good for me I like oysters. I’ll most definitely be back.

I was craving fried oysters today. Since I was across the street at Carson Mall, I decided to check this place out. When I called, they were really friendly. Another reason I decided to try them. My meal came with a jar of fried oysters, collard greens, coleslaw and a roll. Everything was great. I especially liked the the sweet and tangy coleslaw. The two guys that helped me were really nice too.

There are too many fish places in Carson for your customer service to suck. I got the shrimp since I was craving something fried and seafoody. I got there around closing, and when the guy handed me my order I was going to do a quick eat in. As soon as I crack open the bucket the lady literally screams at me saying«WE’RECLOSED!» I quickly got my food and got the hell out of there. Then as I sat in my car eating I watched them stay open a full 15 minutes after I left taking orders. And no, it isn’t cultural. Get it together Ann’s.

This was a pleasant surprise. I drive by this place all of the time when I’m on the way to the gym. I’ve always seen these fish fry places but didn’t know what to think. I Unilocaled and saw good stuff so I figured why not? I do love all things fried anyway. I ordered the lunch special which was 3 – 4 pieces of fried sole, fries, bread, and I forgot what else to be honest. The fries are typical fries. The sides were just blah, nothing to write home about. The fish however, was pretty darn good. It’s more of a southern style fry with some corn meal, ranther than an english pub/beer battered style. The fish is fresh and the fry was done well. It wasn’t overly oily and it wasn’t dry. Perfect. I don’t care for fries here so from now on I just buy a lb or two of sole. I’m kicking myself for not trying it earlier. The only advice is call ahead to save you the wait. There isn’t much room to sit and eat either. Also, the owner(Korean guy) is super friendly and nice and even gave me about an extra lb of fish one day because it was the last of it.

When Ikea shopping sucked the life out of me, DG used his handy Unilocal app to find this place just around the corner. My dangerously low blood sugar levels were brought back up just in the nick of time — whew! Within 15-ish minutes of ordering from this little fish market/fast food eatery, our number was called and we were digging in to some fried goodness. We both got the weekly special, but with different fish choices and sides: Me: 5 pcs catfish &10 pieces of shrimp, with a roll, potato salad and coleslaw. DG: 5 pcs red snapper &10 pieces of shrimp, with a roll, greens and macaroni salad. It was all very fresh fish, cornmeal breaded, cooked perfectly, and blazing hot. The soft and tender catfish and somewhat denser snapper were very good, as were the butterflied shrimp. The potato salad and greens were good, but the coleslaw and stiff packaged rolls weren’t my fave. I didn’t try the macaroni salad. A watery tartar sauce and hot wing sauce came on the side, and were good condiments for the fried bites. There were only a few tables here, and while I scarfed my food, I noticed several people picking up orders to go. A couple of the other sides(fries and hush puppies) looked good — as did the red velvet cake slices I spied in the soda cooler. While not the healthiest, this fried fish was definitely fresh and made to order. A couple hours later, I needed a ton of water however — so it was on the salty side. If I’m in the area and fried fish is what I want, I’d come back here for more.

This place ROCKS! A little place in the corner of a shopping center. This little hole in the wall brings FRESHFISH and seafood and chicken wings that quality and quantity is definitely a 5 star! Their Chicken Wings are yummy too. Huge sizes and portions! And Prices is so cheap! cheap! cheap! starts at $ 5.99 for their combo. FRESH fish for this cheap of price. You pay nearly $ 15 bucks for frozen fish and chips dish in a regular restaurant! You walk in to the shop and you think they sell fresh fish because they have a refrigerated Fish counter like in the market. They have great Customer service too! The owner and the employees shows you that they appreciate your businesses. every time! Most people take Togo because they only have like 3 small tables inside. I usually get their 3 pieces of fish, sole fillet-, and 3 pieces of Chicken Wings with 2 sides, and a dinner roll. $ 7.99… mmm! Yummy, I’m hungry just thinking of it. LOL

This is an «you buy, they fry» joint. They fry the fish in a well seasoned corn meal and it is tasty. I have eaten here for a couple of years and i tend to compare other fish fry places to this one. The shop is small and there isn’t any décor but you go for the good food.
