This run seemed fun, cheap, and was close to home. I was sold from the get go. SO easy to check in. Seriously, if all the other races were like this, I would be willing to do more! Free lights and an actual tech shirt, in addition to an awesome backdrop?! My only complaints were some of the congestion as we went through the stadium — seriously, we’re here to run, not stare at a field! Ugh. And of course, the little trail was so over saturated with people that I had to run in the bushes. Glad to know AFTER the race that there’s rattlesnakes in those bushes! Also, would have loved to see more lights and music along the track. Loved that I was able to wiggle my way through to run the whole race and finish with a decent time. My only suggestion for the next one would be to have corrals, or at least pace people finishing so you wouldn’t have to deal with so much congestion and many, many walkers who had to walk all in a row when there were runners behind them. Running through the stadium, along the actual track and through the running trail were awesome though. Same event, same venue and a few upgrades would make this run awesome. All in all, a great event and I don’t regret a second of it.

Hey everybody, it’s a rave race!!! This was my first 5K, and it was soooooo much FUNNNN!!! You get to dressed up as cracked out as you want, run/frolic through the Home Depot sports center At Night, all while listening to upbeat music??? YES!!! This event was super organized, and you could tell the volunteers were in it to help you win it. There was a dude running through the race with a portable speaker so you could still hear the DJ, even though you were across the block. The costumes ranged from ‘serious racers’ to ‘hey, is that an oompa loompa???’(Seriously, there was a dude dressed as an oompa loompa, complete with body paint– it was awesome) If you’re a newbie to races, this is a great first experience. Go, dress up, enjoy the positive energy, and run/walk your little neon heart out!

Got this run through zozi. thanks for the active life and cheaper runs. No fee for parking. Score!!! Pretty easy packet pickup. Look up your number sign and go. Was able to exchange my tech shirt for a smaller size. The ‘packet’ pickup was a breeze. So cool!!! :) Can’t wait for tonight. 3.1 miles of glowing madness, a huge screen, and edc like type of music? Sign me up again! The only thing is that — if you’re a walker — can we stay in a single file so people can pass through? There were places where it was easy to pass and not have to say excuse me, then there were the trail parts where walkers were blocking people. AND there should be a wave for runners, joggers, woggers(walk/jog) and walkers. There were people who were just walkers, which is fine. :) Just be courteous of those behind ya that want to jog :)

What a fun way to gather a group of friends and RUN for 3.1 miles! The Firefly Run is truly unique in the sense that it’s occurs at night, there’s fun & motivating electronic music playing all night, and runners are dressed like fireflies! No really… there are runners that are dressed in wings, glow-in-the-dark necklaces, bracelets, wigs, neon this and neon that. It’s a party run!!! Hosted at the Home Depot Center in the city of Carson, for my first 5K, this was very exciting! The entire event was extremely organized. From the parking attendants, to finding your name, filling out waivers, getting your bib number, free t-shirt, and all other materials that you may have bought. There were plenty of visible volunteers that were more than eager to help you out in case you were blinded by all the neon lights and giant LED screen… Anyways…Pre-Registration occurred online but if you wanted to register that night, there was an area designated for that. The course starts in the parking lot and guides you all around the Home Depot Center. The highlight of it all was being able to run through the stadium where the LA Galaxy play. The light shines down on the field and kind of created this magical ambience. Many runners stopped to take Instagram selfies. After all the runners cross the finish line, the fun doesn’t stop there. There’s a costume contest that’s actually pretty cool because you get to see all the creative and kooky things that people come up with. Prize was a Go Pro!!! What am I going to dress up as next Firefly Run??? The ONLY thing that sucked was the food vendors ripping you off after the run. TENDOLLARS for 3 tacos and a soda??? TENDOLLARS for a small tray of carne asada fries??? I’d rather load up on 10 bananas that they pass out for free after you cross the finish line!!! Other than that, I had the most fun running with my Team Scrambled Legs. I got the best of everything… a good run, good music, good company. A great way to spend a Friday night. When’s the next 5K? Sign me up!!!

The Firefly Run in Los Angeles(technically Carson) occurs at the Home Depot Center. It was my first time going to the Home Depot Center. I was very impressed by how smoothly things went at this race. I have been to other 5K’s that have been a disaster. I was able to pick up my race packet hours in advance before the race. However, when I got there an hour before the race, there was still no line so I would imagine that most people heeded the warning to go pick up their bib, reflective lights, and t-shirt in advance. The best part was that the parking was free and it was really well organized in terms of entry and exit. The course was really nice especially with the way that they illuminated the stadium with a purple haze. I got to see the tennis courts as well as the soccer field where the LA Galaxy plays. I felt like I was in some video game having free reign over the Home Depot Center. It was great. Also, all the various costumes and lights made it quite a memorable night. In many ways, I felt as though I was at a rave. I love that they played EDC music throughout the 5K route. The only thing I didn’t like, which I am willing to overlook is the«main performer» that they had afterwards. I was not impressed with Marquese Scott’s dance performance.
