The best little burger shack in the world. It’s simple, homemade, and delicious. Double pig and bull with everything that’s all you need to know. Trust me it’s an experience you won’t forget.

I don’t understand why anyone would go for a fast food burger when Whisler’s is open. Fresh made burgers, great staff, fun location. It doesn’t get better.

The food is great, fresh and cheap. We will for sure be back. The burgers are cooked right there and so yummy. We have even used this place for catering lunches.

Stopped here as we were heading out of town. Heard it was good. We got there at perfect time. They cooked too many burgers so gave us the extras! Ladies were great. Burgers are like large sliders. Meat is very tasty. You get pickle, onion, & mustard! Very small walkin spot. Give it a try

This is a classic simple burger joint. The«everything» is pickles, onions & mustard. You can get ketchup if you ask. They are small burgers but packed full of flavor. My husband picked the double cheeseburger meal that included chips and a drink. I ordered the sow and cow(bacon and hamburger) with cheese and catsup and was definitely not disappointed. Next time we will order the 5 for $ 7 special.

I am so glad this place is still in business. It is a local neighborhood burger joint that has very good greasy burgers. If that is what you are in the mood for, this is the place to go. Take cash.

Small town burger joint. Best burger I’ve had in a long time. Get two, they are pretty small. They’ve been around for 60 years. Hidden gem.

A classic, genuine hamburger stand — since 1953! If you’re driving I-44 through Joplin, Missouri area, avoid the franchise traps and find this place. It’s a few blocks north from the town square of Carthage, Missouri, which looks like the movie set for«Back to the Future.» If you’re an honest hamburger lover, the mere sight of it will bring a smile to your face: humble little white drive-up with hand painted sign, picnic tables, friendly cashier and cook, delightfully simple menu. In addition to a single, double and triple cheeseburger, they offer the«Cow’n’Sow»(hamburger topped with bacon), the«Pig’n’Bull»(hamburger topped with slices of ham) and the«Farm»(hamburger with ham AND bacon). They are all tasty. I don’t really care for the gimmick of giant burgers that are hard to pick up and get your jaws around. Whisler’s burgers are right-sized, very affordable, and deilcious. If you just need a little snack to fill the cracks, then a single hamburger is perfect. If you’re starving, then order a sack. I had missed breakfast on my visit, so I ate four. Not sure why, but somehow it’s more fun and rewarding to eat two or three(or four) burgers instead of one giant burger.

Fantastic burgers. I knew about this place since I was a kid, but having moved to CA years ago, I wanted to try it again. My wife and I had been to Carthage on several occasions but hadn’t quite made the stop to Whisler’s. We finally did last month. The burgers were as good as ever — just like when I was a kid even though the establishment has changed hands. My wife said that these tasted like the burgers at Southern CA chain In-N-Out’s. Keep it up Whisler’s!

Hands down the best burgers in Carthage! A simple menu with just the right stuff for the perfect burger shack. Love the bag of burgers with extra onions and pickles. Perfect grab and go to make the whole family happy!

Yes this is essentially fast food but look it’s a classic place in a really quaint Route 66 town and your money is going to a local family and not some huge corporate conglomerate. They have some unique options not available any place else as well. I had the Pig n Bull which is a hamburger with ham on it. Very tasty. I encourage anyone traveling the area to check this place out. It’s a true piece of Americana which sadly the big boys have caused a lot of these places to close.

Great burger joint — a real dive — walk up counter. No seating other than one picnic table outside and it’s Cash Only. Still, I’ll stop in there every time I’m driving down Hwy 71. Great, made to order, as you wait burgers. As others have said, they’re small burgers so get a couple — they’re cheap. That’s about all they do – burgers. No fries, no onion rings, no sides at all but chips and canned soft drinks. This is the kind of place that probably has odd hours so you might call ahead to be sure they’re open. Last time we were on Hwy 71, it was a Sunday so we called to see if they were open — got no answer so we kept on driving. While this isn’t proof, my guess is that they’re not open on Sunday’s.

Great burgers, better than the fast food chains! Good prices and good service. If your going at lunch time you might plan on calling in your order, because they are going to be busy.

Great burgers; very simple menu. No inside seating, fries, nor bathroom. The burgers run on the smaller side so order a double patty or get a pair o’ burgers to fill the gap. Match your burger with chips and canned soda. They were out of milk the day we stopped so no ability to try the shakes. Busy when we stopped in over lunch. Burgers are cooked-to-order so from order-to-bag it was about 15 minutes. I noticed many people calling in advance for pickup to avoid the wait. I’d visit again when in the area.

Nothing fancy, but a simple, great, old fashioned hamburger. And not old fashioned like Wendy’s claims, this is the real deal. Some of the names are a bit cooky, like the Pig & Bull(burger with ham), but my personal favorite is the Sow & Cow with Cheese(bacon cheeseburger). Whistler’s is legendary around here and for good reason.

So what if we don’t have In-n-Outs in South West Missouri? So what if you order something Animal Style you’ll just get funny looks? No place else in America has Whisler’s. Local meat, cheap ass delicious burgers on Sarah Lee buns and cold cans of Dr Pepper or a milkshake. Try a Sow and Cow. Or get a frigging bag full of cheeseburgers for under a tenner. Cash only, closes kind of early. Still, this place justifies the existence of Carthage.

Yum! Yum! These hamburgers are absolutely the best in the area. What makes these guys stand out from McDonald’s, Burger King, or Wendy’s? It’s the fact that they use organic beef from cows not pumped up with growth hormones. I am shocked that it makes that much of a difference in taste. They get their beef from Cloud’s Meats, which is a local meat processing plant in Carthage. Cloud’s Meats in general is pretty popular in the area for it’s meats being used in the local restaurants. What makes this even better is that it’s real cheap! You can either go to McDonald’s and get that kind of hamburger or you can go get yourself a cheap healthy hamburger at Whislers.

Whisler’s has had, and will always have, the best fucking burgers you will ever eat. ever. anywhere. in the entire country. What an awesome, family owned restaurant, where food is fast & amazingly tasty. Also, affordable. If I could have one restaurant with me in California, that I miss the most, it would be Whisler’s. If they ever close down Whisler’s, I’ll mourn.
