They expanded a little while back. More seats — yay! Can get a little smokey at times(but hey, its a BBQ joint so I guess that makes it authentic?). Love the cornbread and cranberry butter. And the sauces for the meat. Catfish tenders are a fave.

Ribs were cold-Not cold as is not hot, cold as in refrigerator cold. Also, there was so much smoke in there that it seemed the kitchen wasn’t even vented. Once the ribs were reheated, they were fair, A bit dry but ok. The fried chicken was good. I’ll go back and give it another chance someday.

Amazing pulled pork! Well, that’s my favorite. My daughter loves the brisket mac’ n cheese(and so does her dad!) Great atmosphere, nice place for the whole family. So glad to have such a nice, laid back place in town :)

How this place gets 3 stars is a true mystery to me. I’m not a expert on BBQ– but hear me out… It is just ok– at best. I have had Bbq all over and maybe the two times I went were just off days??? The prices for what you get are high. I don’t mind spending 120 $ or more on quality food-what they make just isn’t. It’s blah. The service is good, vibe is cool but I won’t be going back. I’d rather travel and try somewhere new and chance it.

Food was ok Service was great; the wait staff was really nice Biggest complaint is the smoke. I understand you’re a smokehouse but we had to take our food to go because the smoke was making our eyes water. Which was unfortunate because we did want to try the desserts. Not at all comfortable sitting in the smoke filled room

Still love this place, but the ventilation system needs some work, had to wait for a table the other night(which i dont mind doing) but it was too smokey to stand at bar(especially with kids) and have a drink. I realize that you are a smokehouse, but clearly there is an issue. I have left 3 times in the last couple of months just for that reason, and i love your food… Another family walked out in front of us for the same reason as well.

Food was decent, but dont plan on going to the bathroom during dinner. I had to go to the bathroom very badly and they decided to clean the bathrooms during rush hour dinner time. I kindly smiled at the lady who was on her cell phone cleaning the bathrooms and politely asked«Excuse me, can I please use the bathroom really quick? I have to go really bad.» And to that she replied with a bad look on her face«No you can wait like everyone else, now go sit back down and stop being a rude asshole» Im not kidding those were her exact words. Guess they didn’t think I was a Unilocal reviewer lowkey. Dont go here fam.

Eric M… your review is bogus. There was a plumbing issue in the men’s room and therefore you were not allowed to use the restroom at that time. The fact that you wrote a review and lied about what was said to you is infuriating! NOONESAIDTHATTOYOU! I was told from an early age that«patience is a virtue», obviously a virtue you do not know or practice. Enjoy being miserable. Patience and understanding goes a long way on this planet. The waitresses handled the situation with grace. You chose not to use the other restroom that was available at the time you were being rude and demanding. You also chose to write a horribly fabricated review about a small family run restaurant. Deceit and lies can be terribly damaging to small businesses. I hope you sleep well tonight knowing that you lied to thousands of people who use this site. Sincerely, a customer who was there!

If you want true Texas barbecue or either Smoked Barbecue this is not the place! I’m literally from Houston Texas and this is not even close to nothing I grew up eating. 1st of all The ribs tasted like they had been baked in an oven with liquid smoke added to it and they were wayyyyy too tender! It was like eating pot roast! In Texas your suppose to smoked the meat under a woodfire not in the oven. 2nd the barbecue sauce is a tomato based sauce and not a hint of barbecue flavor The Grocery store has way better barbecue sauce than that. 3rd I’ve never had collard greens in the south with tomatoes and no seasoning! Your suppose to use bacon or salt pork along with a Smoked Hock or Something Similar… Please take away Texas at your restaurant This was probably the worst barbecue I’ve had as long as I’ve lived and I’m 41! You’ve been warned by a native Texan who knows Real Barbecue!

The ribs that I got the Carolina Jumbo pork ribs, the St. Louis pork ribs and a Crispy Country Fried Chicken dinner. The sides that I got were cheesy grits, black beans and rice(mostly rice and a tablespoon of black beans), collard green that looked more like rainbow chards center not the leafs, and dirty rice(which I liked a lot along with the cheesy grits). The Carolina ribs were huge but undercooked, the St Louis ribs were Quite good. The Crispy Country Fried Chicken was cut up in a strange way that I had never seen before. There were pieces of chicken that I could not tell if it were white or dark meat. There was a round ball that wasn’t the leg. Really I don’t know how they cut up that chicken. There were two wings sections,… Like I said you couldn’t tell what was what, very confusing only in that when you know what your eating you can prepare and be aware of where the tiny bones are so that you can get them out. Also it wasn’t seasoned very well, I hate saying this but a little more salt wouldn’t hurt that chicken. So that is the food. The restaurant was Way Loud and they had a hockey game going in the bar, which is not really separated from the sit down and eat place. It was full but hard to have a conversation since half the place was screaming at the screen for one play or another. They seemed to have a bunch of beers on tap, only one cider for those wheat challenged like myself. I may go back for take out, order ahead as they had many other southern favorites that I love and would like to try like Catfish. finally the service was borderline okay as the person that was to greet me when I came in was more interested in the hockey game than they were in serving the customer that just came in. I had the bar person take my order. When I then sat down at the bar it took her about ten minutes before she asked me if I wanted a drink, Slow… Service and not real friendly. Thats my story and I’m sticking to it.

Great BBQ. Ive been all through the south and the Little Red Smokehouse gets it right. BBQ in a lot of places can be dry or just mushy and they do it well to keep it right where you want it. If you want a quiet place this aint it. If you want a reservation… no. Its down home the way it ought to be show up, grub up and enjoy A friend of mine from Mississippi goes here regularly and claims its as good as he remembers BBQ back home…

I came on a Saturday night at 7:30 pm. They don’t take reservations, so I had to wait about 35 minutes standing around in the bar, which looked like it had a lot of locals who had been there since happy hour. When I was seated, at a typical high top for 2, I was given time to decide on my dinner. I ordered brisket with a side of Carolina ribs(half-rack added $ 14.00 to the cost of the brisket dinner). The meal was served with a choice of two sides. I chose sweet potato fries and what they called Ranch Beans. The fries were kind of cool and greasy. My beans tasted good and we’re made with some black beans added. Different but good. My brisket was not particularly anything except small. I expected the main meat to take up more of the plate. It looked as if when a side of ribs is added, the brisket was a half portion. Good thing that it wasn’t particularly great. For someone who likes both meats, I’d suggest ordering two meals. The cost is not much more. My half-rack of ribs was supposed to be Carolina style. I’ve eaten ribs in the Carolinas. These might pass for them in Rochester Massachusetts. I think they’d be laughed at anywhere in the South. People take their barbecue very seriously down there. The first mistake were the ribs themselves. I can’t vouch that they were smoked in a smoker. What I can say is that my order tasted as if it was smoked earlier in the day and thrown on the grill to heat it up at dinner time. Good ribs should be smoky and moist. When they’re reheated hours later, they come out dry. An attempt was made to slather them in sauce before they went on the grill. All it did was burn the sauce, because of the sugars. I expected nice moist ribs, smoked low and slow with a good rub. The sauce should be on the side. Here, the«Carolina Sauce» at the table had way too much ketchup. It tasted like bottled sauce that was doctored up. Not disgusting but not anything like the real thing. Overall, it was probably the best barbecue I’ve eaten in Massachusetts. That’s not saying a lot. It’s like most of the Chinese food served in Southcoast Mass. When you don’t have better choices locally, you eat it. That doesn’t mean that it’s great. I have given it 3 stars for being an average attempt. I may even try it again and order different items. It was more of a lack of knowledge and demand for anything better.

This place has great potential. First time eater. The food seemed to have such great ingredients, but the flavors fell a bit short. I had a cup of chili. The worst part of the meal. The chili was overflowing with cheese. The meat was cooked well, but bland. I didn’t taste any spices at all, it tasted of blood from rare meat. Ironey. The second part of my meal was much better. I ordered the Smokehouse rueben. The brisket inside was delicous, as was the horseradish dressing. The Texas toast bread was the deal breaker. It was toasted perfectly and seasoned with seeds and pretzel salt. The large grains of salt are what unbalanced the sandwich for me. The saltiness overpowered all of the other awesome flavors. Without as much salt, the sandwich would have been perfect. I did see many people eating ribs, and other side dishes that looked very good. I will have to give this place another try, because I think they have something good going on.

Tried out the Smokehouse tonight with my wife. We found it crowded and quite noisy. It was Friday night and just about full. We were seated immediately and given menus. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. She took our drink order along with onion ring appetizer. We got our drinks, the onion rings came 10 mins. later. The rings looked good but did not taste right. The batter included something not typically used, possibly corn meal. I would not order again. It took over 45 minutes to get our meals. I had the Sloppy O, basically a pulled pork sandwich. It was tasty, I would order again. My wife had the fried chicken BLT. It was not very good, the chicken was dry and tasteless and poorly presented. The French fries was good, the coleslaw average. We decided to pay the bill and call it a night. I noticed most of the BBQ meals looked great… large portions with all the trimmings. All things considered 3 stars are a fair review.

3.5 stars really. Nice service, clean, not too smokey. Compared with other smoke houses I’ve tried, I want to LOVE this one, but I can’t. Its ok. Weak on flavor — both smoke and seasoning, which means you have to drench everything with sauce. Brisket is tender, and when you douse it with sauce, brings out great flavor. St Louis ribs are tender, fall off the bone succulent. Pulled pork, juicy and… bland. Son had burger with cheddar, bacon and onion rings — really great, freshly ground meat. Fries, Sweet Potato Fries and Onion rings were bland, but PERFECTLY fried and not greasy. Collards were not good at all. But my CRAVEWORTHYSTAR of the table was the moist corn bread loaf with a compound cranberry butter! I’d go back just to pig out on that corn bread(ok, and some ribs). Not a bad stop, food is ok, and service is ultra polite.

Long wait. Huge portions. Awesome wait staff! I stopped in here with a group for a birthday dinner. I saw the reviews about the long wait so I was prepared for worse. We only waited for about 20 minutes on a slow night. Our waitress was friendly and quick. I ordered the pulled pork and brisket combination. Along with the sides, this was enough food for a small family. The bbq was good, but not great. I’ve had a hard time finding great bbq in New England. Delicious corn bread! I’d definitely go back… but knowing that I’d have to wait up to an hour, might make this a second choice.
