It’s just cheap meat cooked in oil. No seasonings or flavor to speak of. And the food took a long time to arrive for fast food.

Best Steak & Sub is my favorite cheesesteak place in the Triangle. I read the review where the owner talked smack about the lady for asking questions. I’ve never had an issue with any of the employees. They are all super friendly and nice. Their prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. It doesn’t look like much from the outside(or inside), but the food is great. Try it and you won’t be disappointed.

Was with my super hungry, low sugar, kiddos at crossroads. Don’t usually go to the food court but we did today. Was glad to see this place, seemed like it would hit the spot. So I ordered the cheesesteak and wanted large fries. So the place was clean. Bathrooms also which is a big deal for me. Outdoor seating, nice option with busy kids. The cheesesteak & fries where great! Hit the spot. So did I mention I’ve never been here before. Would’ve gone back since I shop at the crossroads often. So prior to leaving, I go back in And asked the older gentleman(maybe owner or owners dad, think the owner was cooking on the grill don’t know) Do you offer refills? That’s all. He seemed kind of short with his yes. Did dr think anything of it, until I heard complain about me to the other workers. «Yeah! You know that lady I gave the free upgrade too!!! Now she’s back asking for free refills???» 1) I asked for large fries. Didn’t know you gave me a «free upgrade» Didn’t ask for a free upgrade 2) since I know I’ve never been there before I asked if you«offered» refills ? All you needed to say was no. Not talk about me, when you gave me free extra fries. And refill on drink. I’m in the restaurant business. It’s very very very tough. Food cost is very high and things happen. But don’t give me an upgrade that I didn’t know about, then say yes to a refill if it’s should be a no. The worst is this is a mature person. Who was dressed and seemed to have class and distinction. When I let him know I could hear him, he had the guts to tell me I wasn’t supposed to hear that!!! He Apologized. Don’t think it was sincere not one bit. He only apologized because he got caught. Oh!!! He even asked«why? You’re going to pay for your drink?!?» I said yes, he didn’t take it. Customers are tough. I’d like to think I’m not one of them. But made a choice to walk threw your doors & spend my money with you, at your establishment. I wish I wouldn’t have been treated so poorly. I was so upset, I lost my cool. Can’t imagine if a customer really was mean; how’d he be. I didn’t deserve that. Ps come to think about it, what I got on my plate even with the free upgrade of fries. And ½ a sub it was expensive. I offer a full sun & fries for lunch for the same price. Guess that’s Cary for you. Very disappointed, a mature person like him should’ve known better. Don’t know what I did to him to receive a personal attack like that

Best Steak and Subs is perfectly named! They truly do have the best Philly steak sandwiches! The bread is wonderful, soft on the inside and yet just the right crustiness on the outside. The steak has a great flavor to it and just the right texture. The fries are excellent too. This should be everyone’s go to place for a cheesesteak– hands down!

saw this place after finishing up some shopping in the area… And my family and I decided to try them out. Boy! Were we pleasantly surprised! Their steak and cheese subs are delish! Not to mention their fries. Their fries are natural cut with their own blend of special seasoning and they were cooked perfectly. The only reason I’m giving this place four stars instead of five is because our food took forever, and the amount of steak didn’t seem sufficient for amount of bread there was. I actually ended up pulling off some of the bread. But I would seriously go back just to have those fries!

Arguably the most underrated restaurant in Cary. Every time I come here the food is perfect and the customer service is outstanding. I’ve seen the owner here every time I’ve come and he’s always so friendly and helpful. For about $ 10 for a combo you’ll have more food than you can finish. If you like spicy I recommend the Habanero!

Great local joint that sells well made subs. I had trouble choosing from the massive list of options but finally settled on the Montréal and was pleased with it. The fries were really really good and the staff/manager was extremely nice from start to finish. I would eat here over the Subway and Greek Fiesta if shopping at Cary Crossroads and of course to support a small local business! However the seating is very limited inside but plentiful outside, so I’d recommend coming here to get some sun and a sandwich. A perfect place for a quick weekend lunch or early dinner in in a hurry. The only upgrade I would recommend is having whole wheat bread as an option.

One amazing cheese steak. I got the New Jersey and was pleasantly surprised. Seasoned meat and perfectly cooked. The bread, very important to any sandwich, was really delicious also. A must try!!! Me and my husband’s favorite new sub shop.

First time here, the chef made a few suggestions and was very friendly. Takes pride in his food — bread baked daily and veggies from farmer’s market — and proud of their high ratings. Also pleased they have cheerwine

Wow, takes a lot to impress me. The steak and cheese here is legit. Did take out, sub n fries traveled pretty well for a 15 minute trip. Bread was soft n fresh, real steak(no fatty stringiness!) with awesome flavor, fries were seasoned so well — no salt necessary. Fries were a little soggy from the styrofoam packaging. There was no lunch special as their facebook page states. Kinda pricey but worth it.

This place does a mean cheese steak and i cant believe i haven’t found out about it sooner. the place is small but clean and they staff are super fast and friendly. They have a wall sized menu to help you make the important decision of what sub am i going to «put away today«and if im not mistaken they also have cheer wine as a drink selection which is a must for southern fast food scarffing. lol
I think they do a pretty good job here and im probably going to be getting my cheese stake fix here from now on.

We had a very bad experience here. We came in at 7:55pm(they close after 9pm), we were in a great mood, and we ordered two steak sub combos. At 8:20pm we were advised that our food would take a while(as if it hadn’t already!) and offered free mozzarella sticks. At 8:30pm we were handed our subs(no mozz sticks yet) and my husband’s was wrong(chicken instead of steak). We asked what happened and they said that a customer after us had complained about the wait so they made their subs first??? At 8:40pm we got a refund and left. I have never experienced such poor service!

Unfortunately, not the best cheesesteak I have ever had. I was hoping this would be great. It was just ok. The staff is friendly! So I can say that. I did really like the hogie roll. it was soft and warm with a slight crisp crusty outside. Great bread! The lettuce needed to be shredded to stay on the roll. It all fell off. It would help if the steak was chopped more as well. I think with a few improvements the cheesesteak could be decent.

was hoping this place was going to knock my socks off based on the reviews. Not sure I went to the same place as all these reviews. One, I knew I was in trouble when I got my sandwhich and they use shredded cheese instead of cheese slices on the sandwhich… The good thing, they have fries to go with your sandwhich… The bad thing, they use so much seasoning salt on them that you can barely eat them. Not sure I got a bad batch or what. The thing is, there was not a sole in the place… My next thing that should have set off the alarm bells… If you are looking for a Steak/Chicken sandwhich, give them a shot, but don’t have high expectations…

Greasy cheesesteaks, is there any other way to have ‘em?! I was floating through Cary Crossroads when I saw this place on Unilocal mobile. Given I’ve had the feedbag on since late November, figured Best Steak and Sub was worth a try. I love my cheesesteaks and once spent nearly an hour driving through Philadelphia trying to find Pat’s and Geno’s but haven’t had much luck around here! Inside it’s all sub shop, spartan, bare and simple. I ordered up the standard Philly cheesesteak with peppers, grilled onions and cheese. It came out quick and was a good looking sandwich: large, soft roll with plenty of meat. Biting into this bad-boy I could easily taste the black pepper, green peppers and cheese. A good sandwich cooked with care but I could have used a bit more grease! So while Best Steak puts out a good sandwich, I’d personally like a bit less steak, more cheese and grill those peppers! Felt as if the steak wasn’t chopped up enough and there wasn’t enough balance between the bread, cheese and steak. But if you’re at Crossroads and have got a craving for some meat, Best Steak is a great choice for lunch! It’s tucked away next to China King and Coffee & Crepes as a point of reference, enjoy!
