Just found out about this store and stopped by on a Saturday. Smaller than your typical thrift store, but the prices are better. For example, t-shirts are $.75; I get frustrated with other thrift stores when they try to charge 3.49 for a faded out t-shirt. They were also having a bag sale, fill a 30 gal trash bag for 10 bucks, which I think they do every Saturday. Will definitely come back often now that I know this exists.

The Cary VFW Thrift store is a nice store, packed with a lot of things, but not so overcrowded that it makes it difficult to find anything. The clothes are average, nothing high-end, but solid everyday wear. They’re sorted by size within the men’s, women’s and kids sections, but there isn’t a lot of adult clothing. I’m almost glad of that because it made me spend more time looking at the perimeter of the store with the home décor items. The VFW carries the usual small collectibles, lamps, artwork, and glassware, along with a small book section, shoes, and women’s handbags and belts. Most of the handbags were smaller, woven, and dark colors, but that may be more a factor of the season and post-holiday remnants. I did, however, find a small holiday statute that matches a set I currently have. That was a pleasant surprise. The prices are very reasonable, and seemed to be much less than at similar places. The thrift store is a small building at the end of a short gravel driveway behind the VFW. Although I didn’t find a lot on this visit, I like that this store supports veterans and active military and their families. That makes it worth a visit.
