First of all, let me say that I love this store for it’s size and selection. When they have a sale on something, it’s a damn good one — a lot of buy one, get one free — and their packaged cheese often goes on sale for buy two, get three free(yep you read that right). I also like their Asian food bar in the deli — it’s not great Chinese, but it’s as good as most places these days and yes, it’s pricey, but you can load up with chicken dishes and keep the rice to a minimum, if you so desire. Another thing I like is that I can go here very early in the morning on weekends and their donuts and bagels are already in the case. I was an avid Lowes Food shopper for years and sometimes even at 7:30 on a Saturday or Sunday morning, they had NO donuts or bagels out. But the not-so-good and why I gave it two stars is the checkout situation and being FORCED to use the self-checkout even with a full grocery cart on a weekend morning. This morning for instance I had a small cart that was full — and three young women were standing by the checkout aisles gossiping — but I was still forced at 7:30 a.m. to check myself out. They can stand around and talk but can’t open a register? Yeah — this looks real good to a paying customer. This is what I don’t get: ever since grocery stores started this self-checkout thing a few years back, I have tried to understand the idea behind it, but what started out as maybe a convenience for the SHOPPER who has a few items and does not have to wait behind people with a cart full, it has now turned into a MAJORCONVENIENCE for the STORE. If I am not getting the checkout service, WHY do I have to pay full price for my food? Especially on weekends when it’s hot and people have plans — a lot of people go to the grocery store early to get the shopping over with — and even at 7:30 a.m. they can have what I saw was at least seven different employees near the front store registers but not one of them could check me out? I would rather drive the 3 extra miles to Lowes Foods and pass on the bagels, because on weekends, they always have at least one checkout person available if you buy a lot and don’t want to use self checkout. It should ALWAYS be the customer’s choice — NOT the store’s. So even though I like this Harris Teeter store and it’s only a couple of miles from home, I’m pretty fed up with the lack of customer service here. In fact, it seems to be a common practice at ALL Harris Teeters now to force all customers to use the self-checkout until they feel like providing someone at the register. I am an early shopper and always have been, and this complete lack of customer service on weekend mornings is pushing me away from shopping at Harris Teeter all together. Oh — and the ONETIME I bought a couple of slices of pizza here in their deli, one of the slices was burned black on the bottom — I mean BLACK — and the kid who was dishing it out knew it was inedible slop but sold it anyway. The manager did refund my money, but she did kind of give me a hard time because it was a couple of days later when I returned. Luckily, I took pictures of the pizza and showed them to her, in THEIR pizza box, so she couldn’t say I was making it up — and why would someone make that up anyway for a $ 2.50 refund?

This is quite a large Harris Teeter, with a varied selection of grocery items. It’s relatively new, so it’s clean, and the produce seems pretty standard. Nothing that stands out, but nothing overtly bad, either. I typically go to a closer HT from my house, but if I’m in the area, this HT isn’t a bad place to shop.

I have to downgrade them because for the past two weeks I’ve gotten fruit from them, taken it home, and it was moldy and rotten on the inside. I can’t trust them, and I’m never buying fruit from them again. I also wish seafood counter would open earlier. 10 am is a lite ridiculous. Otherwise still a great grocery store.

Big and Beautiful. Great staff and fresh quality products. Love the pizza bar, bread and sushi stations. Their Subs can’t be beat especially on Friday’s when they are $ 4.99. We save $$$ when they have their super double coupons. Great addition to the HT Family.

Just opened 28-Oct. It is definitely nice and fully stocked; however, I’m sticking with Publix.

So bright inside that I will never go back to this Harris teeter again. I shouldn’t have to go to the eye doctor after visiting a grocery store. Put normal lights in
