Sadly, we just went through this ordeal 2 weeks ago. First timers with a high schooler who miraculously survived unscathed through her elementary years. Apparently, I did something right because when Nina came, the child in question, who had a ton of newly hatched lice, no new eggs yet(awfully disgusting!) was completely lice-free and it had only been 4 days. Unfortunately, our third child had been«infected» and I had missed it. I was so completely engrossed in containing the damage and relying on verbal checks only-duh!(«are you itchy?»), that I completely missed the obvious fact that it spreads easily AND it takes about 3 weeks to develop the so-called itch. I had been wishful-thinking, is what it is! Being it was our first time, I had no real idea what I was doing and relying on all kinds of misinformation and anecdotal entries online. So that’s why I took the plunge and in order to save my sanity and schedule, I hired Lice Happens to educate me and eradicate the plague once and for all, all the while crossing fingers that we were all lice-free. I’m so glad I hired her because she showed me what to do from now on to catch this nuisance early on, checked us all and found out our son had them ready to hatch(quintuple yuk!). Had we relied on my approach(infested-child-clean-and everyone-else-seems-ok-so-let’s-move-on) we would’ve been back to square one in a few days. Nina’s amazing. I hope you don’t ever need her services but if you find yourself down that path and want to get on with your life, pay her for her time. It was worth every nickel, even though it’s not cheap. She’s calm, knowledgable, professional, sweet and kind. Just what you need at a time like this!
