Marmalade Skies Frozen Yogurt

This place has gone way down hill. I was there this week and just got the chocolate. It was clearly bad. I didn’t taste it before I purchased it cause I was just getting chocolate. Went back in after I found that it was bad but the young guy working there eventually tasted it and said it was good. He said I could get another one at ½ price. Now that is good service. Mine is bad and I could pay more and replace the bad one. Come on. And what is up with all the fruit flies in that place?
The health dept. should shut it down.

This place used to be amazing a few years ago and would be one of the few frozen yogurt shops I would go to, but the last few times I been there I get stomach troubles. Not to mention it has started to smell like sour milk in there. My boyfriend thought the yogurt was strangely sour and didn’t taste right. I don’t know what is going on with this place, but I’m afraid I will have to find a new fro yo shop that doesn’t hurt my stomach every time.

Marmalade Skies opened at the peak of fro-​yo mania in the Triangle… and yet it failed to impress me even then.
Walking up to the store I can recall pasted on its windows and its walls were proud proclamations of «gluten-​free!», «sugar-​free!», «fat-​free!», etc. etc. They may have included flavor-​free too. Watered down fro-​yo at best, not my favorite. There’s plenty of fish in the fro-​yo seas and unfortunately Marmalade Skies was not the one for me.

To me summer is the perfect time to start trying all the fro-​yo places that have popped up everywhere in the last couple years. Marmalade Skies is one of the better places I’ve been to (my favorite has no locations in NC sadly!).
Setup is pretty typical where you get your own yogurt and toppings. Marmalade Skies probably has some of the greatest variety in toppings that I’ve ever seen, although I would take higher-​quality fruit (the berries were mushy & didn’t have as much fresh fruit variety) for quantity of toppings and is one of the reasons I didn’t give them a 4-​star rating.
The flavors themselves:
Tart: excellent; like actual yogurt that has been frozen and perfect with fruit on a hot day (or night)!
Marshmallow: sweet but good
Pecan Praline: too sweet for my taste
Vegan Cran-​Raspberry: essentially a sorbet (not surprising) but good flavor
The only other reason I didn’t rate them higher is there were only 2 small tables outside and to me the whole point of eating fro-​yo in the heat is for it to help cool you down!
Overall good flavor and would definitely go back again!

It’s almost getting hard to write reviews of frozen yogurt shops, because the major points I’d normally cover are pretty consistent across the board. Minimal staff interaction, enormous cups that encourage you to load up more yogurt and toppings than you can actually eat, cheery «kid in a candy shop» colors and décor, fruit and candy and syrups all enticingly displayed, pay-​by-​weight pricing.
We’ve been visiting all the new froyo places popping up due to the ridiculously high March temps we’ve been enjoying, and while the kids could go to the same place every time and not care, I’ve started viewing this as a quest to find my favorite. It’s hard, because in a lot of ways they are all quite similar, so a lot of it comes down to personal preference like location, kids-​to-​adults ratio, patio seating, etc.
Please forgive the lack of enthusiasm for writing the review, because Marmalade Skies is a pretty sweet place. I’d rate it as one of the more child-​friendly yogurt shops we’ve visited, with the fun wall murals and the chalkboard wall. It seemed like they had a healthy portion of «sweets» flavors (red velvet, chocolate, etc) vs. fruit flavored yogurt available.
On the negative side, it’s less convenient to my home & kids’ school than some other shops, and the cups really are enormous. I wish they offered a much smaller sizing option. I understand the huge cups from the business owner’s standpoint, but I feel guilty about the amount of unnecessary trash it creates. Last, the yogurts here are a bit sweet, including the «tart» flavor, which didn’t live up to its name as much as I’d have liked.
Overall I feel completely comfy giving this place 4 stars and deeming it the «best» in Cary. Top 3 for the shops we have tried. Maybe I will update these reviews when (if??) I finally manage to visit them all…

This frozen yogurt is delicious! I love the self-​serve options for the flavors and toppings. As a health-​concious eater, I enjoy being able to control my portion sizes but still indulge my sweet tooth. This place is right near my house, and it’s delicious. Highly reccomemded.

Maybe I made my own sundae too often as a kid because any time I go in here I try to make the good decision and not over-​load my frozen treat with more sweets than I can handle.
With that said, they offer plenty of fruit options instead of candy and sprinkles to add to your frozen yogurt. The staff is friendly and it’s always clean regardless of how many people are there.
For kids they have a chalk board wall and a smaller table :)

I stopped into Marmalade skies last weekend on my continued quest to try all of the frozen yogurt places in the area. As soon as I walked in, I was asked if I wanted some sample cups. YES, of course I want some sample cups. I got to sample 3 different flavors before deciding what I wanted. The other nice thing here that I don’t remember at the other places I’ve been is that you can do the 2 flavor twist. There was a wild cherry flavor that I would’ve avoided if it hadn’t been for the sample cup, since it was vegan and all kinds of things that made it sound not very good. Wrong, it was great! I ended up with the wild cherry twisted with original tart. This was a great combination!
They had the typical toppings along with some extra things that I hadn’t seen before. Something called explosions, that were different fruit flavors but looked like those little bath oil beads… I decided not to be adventurous there. I had my typical fresh fruit toppings — kiwi, strawberry, mango. My only complaint there was that the mango was in really large pieces and was hard as a rock. Other than that, it was great!

Excellent frozen yogurt with great toppings, including pound cake! Flavors are appealing as well, with names such as Caramel Custard and Key Lime Tart. Compared to other popular froyo places, such as Tutti Fruitti, Local Yogurt, The Skinny Dip, and Yopop, this place is definitely on the sweeter side. I prefer more tartness and less sweet, but I have to say that the flavors are more creative than the average froyo place.
Favorites: Tart, Peanut Butter, and Mounds.
Definitely give it a try, since the lovely thing about having so many different froyo places in the Triangle is that you’ll eventually find one that fits your taste best.

Our friends took us here as it’s one of their favorite dessert places… and it didn’t disappoint! I rocked my chocolate and peanut butter twist yogurt with granola and peanut butter sauce and I could have eaten a gallon of it, but thankfully I only had a very small serving. (Be forewarned that it’s all done by weight, so it’s better to start with a small serving of yogurt lest you end up with eyes bigger than your stomach.)
They could use a bit more 4-​top seating, as most of the tables are meant for two – but they do have a kid’s table which is nice. The service was nice, too, though all the girl did was weigh our cups and ring us up.
We’d definitely go back if we were in the area.

I went here this last weekend, with my husband and son, for the first time after some friends said how good it was. I had the peanut butter frozen yogurt and so did my husband and WOW was it amazing! My son had the Red Velvet Cake flavor and he loved it too. I snuck some from him and it was very delicious as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice, clean dessert shop for after dinner. Also, much healthier option than ice cream or custard!

Wow, suuuuuper decadent. You could really go nuts in here with all the options. And we did! The soft serve flavors are amazing (red velvet cake was AWESOME!). The mix-​ins and toppings were abundant, I’ve never seen so many in one place! The price was fair, the staff was nice, and the whole place was very clean.

Ok, so you grab a cup, walk up to the Frozen Yogurt wall, and fill that cup up as high as you want. You then take this cup to the toppings bar, load up as many toppings as you find reasonable from their massive selection, then cover it in any kind of sauce you want.
Then, you pay by weight and eat it with no regard at all for your long-​term health.
Everything is high quality, everything tastes good, and you can eat as much as you want. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this business model. Thank you, Marmalade Skies.

I generally judge the quality of the froyo by the taste of the standard flavor… tart. Marmalade skies has the better if not the best tart flavor in the area (and their other flavors rock also! when they have the mint and the chocolate flavors, it truly tastes like and andes chocolate mint… mmmmm delish!). I also love the fact that they have mochi in different flavors. good toppings, awesome froyo, i give this place two thumbs up.
I have tried some of the other froyo places around, even the big chain ones, and this place is much better than those. I am definitely a return customer. Good job guys!

Well you know what it is fat free, sugar free you can not resist when it tastes this good. OK, here is the point. Low fat, sugar free Yogurt, yahhhh ! but I can not resist the toppings, the carob chips, heath bar shreds, peanut butter cup pieces, Oh My ! Yes the hot fudge just before you pay, I always put a pound of Hot fudge on !
Now they do have a Loyalty Card here. For every $ 3.00 you spend you get a check mark on the card. you get 10 check marks and wallah ! $ 5.00 bucks off on your next purchase.
When I get to ten I will rate it 5 stars.

Marmalade Skies is incredible. The toppings are wonderful and diverse. They have plenty of low fat and sugar free options and the price is fantastic. The non-​fruit flavors are better than the fruit flavors — red velvet, pound cake, cookie dough and the rest are wonderful. I am not a fan of peach and the other fruit flavors — in that one area it doesn’t stack up to Pinkberry which is my standard.
Even with that strike I rate it five stars and encourage you to go.

I like froyo. I like coupons. I had a coupon for froyo at Marmalade sky so I went.
The kind served here is pretty decent but nothing super memorable. I really like that they put out the nutritional guidelines by every yogurt type but it’s almost defeated by the fact that they only provide super large bowls for there yogurt… making it practically impossible to get a small yogurt. The prices are a little expensive but they have a nice selection of toppings and yogurt. I’ll probably be back again if I get another coupon and a hankering for frozen yogurt.

Living Social helped to make this an inexpensive way to try a new place. The concept is «self serve» frozen Yogurt, and if you understand serving sizes you know exactly how many calories, fat grams, protein grams and a whole lot more information about what you’re eating is getting put into your body.
I splurged on chocolate and blueberry cream, added some blackberries, dried cranberries and some other toppings and finished it off with some reddi whip. I was good to go… YUMMM! My bride and little girl go their stuff as well and it was all good. It all looked very healthy.
The only problem here is knowing the weight of what you’re putting in the cup. A serving size is 4oz but at the end of the day, if you’re a math nerd like me, you figure you what you had and it turned out to be about 15 oz each between the 3 of us. I don’t carry a scale around with me but I’m thinking maybe I should so I can stick to the serving size information provided. Then again, when one is going out for ice cream (or Fro Yo), nutritional information is usually thown out the window.

I tried the chocolate and the red velvet. I was impressed with the quality of both flavors. The chocolate was dark and rich. The red velvet actually tasted kind of like red velvet cake. The toppings I tried were all pretty good, although the kit-​kat pieces and cake bits were stale. I tried some of the fruit flavors as well, and they were very good. My top pick for self-​serve in the triangle right now.

Yum! I’m a frozen yogurt addict! I usually end up at Local Yogurt because it’s near my house but my husband came across this location online. I found out they have a facebook and was able to see their flavors. Once I saw Red Velvet I knew I had to go! When we finally made the trek to Cary I think I had been obsessing and dreaming of the Red Velvet goodness for like 4 days. That’s a lot of pressure to put on frozen yogurt and… it lived up to my expectations! This is a pay by the ounce, serve yourself kind of place which I actually like a lot better than the full-​service fro yo joints. When we stopped by they had Red Velvet, Dutch Chocolate, Pom/​Raspberry, Blueberry Crème, Tart, and one that I can’t remember. I grabbed a gigantic cup (only one size) and loaded up half with Red Velvet and a few pound cake pieces and the other half with Blueberry and Mochi. This place does not disappoint. Yummy fro yo and a ton of candy toppings as well as fruit, brownies, cake, etc. I’m definitely going to find a reason to head to Cary more often so I can get my Marmalade Skies fix.
