Have you ever wondered if you could paint? Visit: October 29 I’ve had this thought once in a blue moon since the last time I remember painting, which was in elementary school art class(a VERY long time ago!). But it was only a fleeting thought quickly dismissed because my painting from art class wasn’t even worthy of the refrigerator(of course my mom hung it on the refrigerator but even at that young age I knew I had NO talent). Last year, my friends dragged me to a painting class at Wine and Design. It was such a surprise to me that it was a ton of fun and my painting turned out much better than I would ever have imagined. So when I saw the Living Social coupon for Polka Dot Palette, I was very excited to try another art class. I registered for the Cezanne Pear class held last night. My husband is an easy-going guy so I was able to coax him into joining me. We sat next to a nice couple that was also on a «date night» and there was a mother and daughter sitting across from us. However, the majority of participants were women. Hey single guys, this may be a place to meet artistic women. Ya never know… It was a little difficult finding Polka Dot Palette in the shopping plaza because the parking lot is very chopped up and crazy and the lighting was insufficient. I think it would be easy to locate during the day. The entrance is located around the corner from the main parking area. However, there was a sign pointing us in the right direction. When we arrived, we were quickly checked in receiving general directions for picking a spot and the location of the aprons and bathroom. Each seat had a blank canvas on an easel, 3 paint brushes, a napkin, a cup of water, and a plate of various paints. Very efficient. This painting studio does not encourage wine drinking as with Wine and Design but they do not discourage it either. In fact, Brandon, the owner and art teacher, offered to help a woman open the bottle of wine she brought with her. Brandon is a very charismatic, friendly person who came around to introduce himself prior to the class starting. He is enthusiastic about painting and helping you with your painting. Once we started to paint, Brandon offered many painting tips such as how to hold the paint brush, the proper method for mixing the water on the brush with the paint, and placing the paint on the canvas. I was very impressed with the level of instruction. Brandon walked around the room periodically providing more individualized instruction and pointers as well as encouragement. I would call him a good coach and cheerleader. As Brandon predicted, we like our paintings even more the next day… my husband and I are quite pleased with our paintings. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Give your artistic side a chance to shine at Polka Dot Palette.
