I must take my imaginary beret off to Arianne Hemlein, because I’m the least visually-creative person I know, and she helped me make a pretty awesome painting! Sociable Art is a fantastic concept, and judging by the number of people gathered on the Ruckus Pizza patio(in Cary), on a Monday night, INTHEBITTERCOLD, this art class business has a lot of local fans. Sociable Art offers a variety of painting classes at a bunch of different locations around the Triangle; just go to the website, find a painting you’d like to recreate on your own — and sign up! Bring a friend! For $ 35-$ 40, you get all the supplies you need(paint, canvas, brushes, water-cup, cheat sheets, etc.), instruction from Arianne, and $ 10 of the registration fee goes toward food and drink at whatever location you choose to paint at. Arianne displays examples of the final product AND paints along with you; she makes it pretty easy to follow along and helps you to be your most successful. I can barely draw a stick figure(No, really. Challenge me to «Draw Something» on the iPhone sometime. You’ll see.), but Arianne walks you through every step of the painting, for about 2 hours, until your masterpiece is done! One of Arianne’s classes would be perfect for a girl’s night out, a Mother’s Day gift, date night(there were men there!), or just a random Monday evening. Sociable Art even offers classes for kids and private painting parties. You WILL have fun creating your own work of art(even if you’re a tad challenged, like me) — promise!
