This is probably the best BBQ around here. Really good meat — lean — no grizzle — well cooked — nice smoke. Sauce was good too. This is really good BBQ. Close to great.
It’s definitely a place that I would go back to when in the area.

This place is really really good. Been coming to Cashiers for years and always somehow managed to pull up when they’re closed or just forget to stop in. Never again!
Their Pork Cuban Sandwich was AWESOME! I’m from the Tampa area (wait, aren’t half the people in Cashiers) and know a great Cuban sandwich. This was the perfect blend of pulled pork and a Cuban. Amazing fusion there!
Everyone else in my family enjoyed their meals. Can’t wait to go back next season!

Deeeelish! I haven’t been in to the restaurant, but they catered a luncheon I attended this weekend and I’m definitely craving more… the pork was tender and had a great char on the outside, the sweet sauce was perfect, and the buns/​rolls nice and soft. I’m pretty picky about my potato salad, but theirs was magic! I’m also pretty picky about Brunswick stew and I fell asleep last night wishing I had another bowl…
We’ll be visiting Sapphire again next spring and you can bet that On The Side will be the first place we go!

Order the pork cuban sandwich! No lie, one of the best I’ve ever had. Big fan. This place just has good olé barbeque.
