We loved staying at this B&B. The restaurant is fantastic too. Very charming place to stay in a quiet little town in Maine. Stop by on your way to Bar Harbor. :)

The room is appropriately sized considering when the inn was built(1894). We had room 3 which was special as it is the second floor room just beneath the Inn’s name on the exterior. It has a spacious bathroom with a ball in claw tub and quite charming floral patterned surround curtain. Pedestal sink with medicine cabinet & geometric green & grey tiles in addition to a small wooden table to hold your incidentals along with soap & very appealing fragranced shampoo & conditioner. The room is decorated & designed with the period in mind. Tasteful & quite comfortable with the thoughtful inclusion of TWO luggage folding luggage stands instead of the conventional one. The room also features a very small deck attached to the bathroom that has two cushioned rayan chairs & a small table. We enjoyed a bottle of wine while reading outside here. The sounds of jazz drifted up to us from the sitting room in the early evening which was quite pleasant. One MAJOR flaw was the lack of air conditioning. There is a ceiling fan & an additional box fan in the room, but it was still quite warm during the night. I awoke a couple times to shed sheets ultimately eschewing them altogether. Breakfasts here are buffet with some excellent hot, fresh made offerings as well. We enjoyed the extraordinarily light, eggy French toast with a blueberry compote served(unnecessarily in my opinion) with warm maple syrup. My wife enjoyed a bowl of hot oatmeal with sautéed peaches & cinnamon. Quite satisfying & enjoyable. The server was pleasant & efficient. The coffee was quite good too. Overall, I’d recommend the Pentagoet Inn as an example of what life was like in a mostly forgotten past…

Wow! We loved this inn. After a grueling three-week trip up and down the east coast, we came to rest at this lovely place. Unfortunately, it was just for one night. Our room was very clean, the bed was the best we slept in our entire trip, the restaurant was amazing, loved the quaint bar, and our host, Jack, was charming. What a beautiful town to explore. I NEVER eat pancakes out, but their blueberry pancakes were to die for! We can’t wait to come back for a longer visit and I hope it’s sooner, rather than later.

My husband and I stayed at the Pentagoet Inn for 2 nights during our trip in Maine. Jack and Julie are wonderful, interesting and energetic hosts. Dinner at their restaurant is a treat. We ate in the«pub» which was cozy, artistic and a lot of fun. There is lots to look at on the walls which represent Jacks extensive travels and it’s even more enjoyable to discuss all of this with Jack. But the food is what is outstanding here. Fresh ingredients combined to make our entrees truly delicious. Wonderful drinks from the bar and yummy desserts topped off a most memorable dining experience.

Don’t trust that you have a reservation– even with a confirmation email and number! These folks don’t know how to run a business. I had made a reservation, had the confirmation, and a couple weeks later they emailed me to say they couldn’t honor that reservation(but was I interested in staying 2 nights instead. because that they could honor!). Rude, disrespectful, and didn’t even have the courtesy to call me back– just sent an email.

We just went to the«Propaganda Bar» for a drink before dinner at another restaurant. What a wonderful atomsphere — friendly, had a great conversation with the owner about all the photographs — you have to see it and experience it. We were sorry we weren’t staying for dinner.

Pentagoet has been on my bucket list for years after being highly recommended by an acquaintance, and I finally made it. I had high expectations and it did not disappoint. If you want a quiet and peaceful getaway, this is the place. We drove up from our home in Southern Maine. It was a rainy and overcast day, so we took our time and got there in time to have a great dinner in their wonderful restaurant. The food was excellent, especially the salad made from the garden fresh greens. All of the food was local, and as fresh as you can get it. After dinner we retired to our room. It was a fairly large room, with an antique headboard, and a wonderfully comfortable bed. In the morning there was coffee outside of our room, and a fabulous breakfast in the dining room. The muffins were homemade, and we had our choice of entrees freshly prepared in the kitchen. As wonderful as that was, I think the best part of the visit was the conversation with Jack, one of the owners(the other being his wife Julie) who has pretty much traveled the world and has a wealth of general knowledge about anything you want to talk about. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and look forward to going back.

Food is very good and the chef obviously takes pride in the menu. The prices are a little high, but when in Maine …
