DCS Montessori Charter

Please think twice about this school! Although it is structurally set up for greatness, it is run by a joke of a person, backed by a parent board that is incapable of creating change or addressing any real issues. I had both of my children in here, both in primary classrooms, and it was awful! One teacher was so mentally and emotionally abusive to the kids that several of us pulled our children out of the class. She has now only been demoted to an assistant role, but still has access to the kids and with her personality, she will continue her pattern. Another primary teacher expressed suicidal thoughts to another parent, he is still responsible for precious little people 5 days/​wk. And then my son was neglected in his class. I would walk in and see him bent over a counter staring at a wall for LONG periods of time (at least 20 minutes before I stepped in). Teacher told him it was ok to do nothing so long as he wasn’t interfering with the rest of the class. !!! She just resigned after too many parents complained about her. The school has wonderful «specials» but they pile them on the kindergartners, running them all over the school in one fell swoop, and my daughter paid the price. No snacks or recess on those days because «there was no time» so a dozen exhausted 5 year olds given back to their parents every 4^th day. Teachers are not held accountable to the HOS or parents. They run their roost and the kids are at their mercy. I could go on and on. This school won’t be worth the money, and it will damage these little spirits, until they get a new HOS and hold all teachers to a higher standard. Such a shame. They’re awful!
