I’m not sure, but I think The Cakery is gone and this place is now Sugar Art Cakes & Bakery. Regarding The Cakery, this business was doomed from the start. The owner/baker treated this business like a hobby. From the beginning, their hours were totally inconsistent, their selection limited and the owner seemed not particularly happy to be there. Originally, they were closed on Sundays. Sundays, for many bakeries, is money day. The owner finally got a clue and opened Sundays and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. When you could get them, the donuts were good but no better than those available in the bakery department of the local grocery store for half the price. Let’s home the new business does a better job.

A neighbor friend loves this place, so I thought I’d give it a shot. Now, I’m not a donut fan, but I picked up a filled donut for my husband, a glazed one with sprinkles for my daughter, an apple fritter for my mom, and a plain for me. We all really loved them! And Mom’s apple fritter was huge… like the size of my head huge!

Went to this place this morning to pick up donuts for the kids. Supposed to be open at 8am, door was locked when I arrived at 8:05am, okay no big deal. Drove around and returned at about 8:15am, door was still locked! An example of how not to run a small business. Can someone please consider opening a Dunkin Donuts in Castle Rock!!!

I’m so bummed! My sister and I had some donuts and fritters back in 2012 and thought they were the best since we left NY. I just went to get some for my out of town guests and they are really very bad. Dry, stale, no apples in the fritters. And they’re not cheap! Just disappointed, I thought we had a place!
