Clean and quiet(maybe a little too quiet without music) place with lots of choices for sandwiches. My bagel sandwich was filling and delicious except for the un-peeled cucumber that was kinda bitter. Drip coffee was good, but latte was too hot to taste. I could hear the lady ‘boil’ milk, like a train rolling… Just a note this place does not have wifi.

Not only is this a great place to get a cup of coffee — the service is amazing! This is a great neighborhood gem. Support local and inpedent and you will enjoy a beautiful cup of coffee with the most excellent service. This is a must frequent.

Java Bob’s is right next to Castro Valley Bart, has a full parking lot and, well, is an independent coffee shop. The woman who I always see working is so kind, and they carry Semifreddis pastries. I do wish they had a wheat or whole grain option for a bagel/bread because I would then be more inclined to try one of their veggie sandwiches. The cappuccino is decent at best but that’s not a deal breaker when I’m on the go and need my caffeine fix.

Great little coffee shop. Usually don’t find myself in Castro Valley very often, so I stopped in here on a whim while I was in the city this morning to get something warm, to chase away the freezing chill. The owner is a super nice lady and she got my order ready really quickly. For two bagels with cream cheese, a Snapple, and a medium cup of hot tea, the total came out to eight bucks — pretty good! Small, quaint, and quiet. Seems like the perfect place to go to avoid a crowd and get some work done, if you want to get out of the house.

My daughter and I love this place. We are always greeted with a sincere smile, and the owner is a wonderful woman who has amazing multitasking skills. In addition to really delicious coffee(the yemeni sunani is super yummy), and fresh high quality food, the service conveys a great attention to detail that is reminiscent of ‘the good olé days’. She observes everything, and if she sees that you have a need, she’ll be on it before you even ask. I love to support mom and pop businesses, and this one’s a gem.

My plan is to go to Starbucks and get my cup of cappuccino there. I walk by at this place all the time and have really been ignoring it. Today, I finally gave it shot. Got some cappuccino and roasted beef sandwich. It was just alright.

This is a real coffee joint. Not like Starbucks. Go here if you really like the flavor of coffee. Not the«foo foo» stuff you get everywhere else. Not really my desired style but the lady running the place was super friendly and the coffee was good.

Java Bob’s is on a corner and is easy to spot. not much parking in front. lots of parking in back. not much seats inside either. menu: expressos, sammies, pastries, coffee. pour: yemeni …(m.1.80) –smooth, not bold, last thermo standing in early afternoon. –2 hours later falling asleep at the wheel. coffee not rich enough. coffee drips: –very friendly service –would repeat if i could come earlier to get more variety.

My third favorite coffee shop in Castro Valley but they still offer a solid coffee. Places like Java Bob’s still beats out the commercialized coffee places like Starbucks any day of the week, especially when the service is so genuine and nice.

Java Bob’s can be described in one word: chill. The rich coffee is self-serve, the barista is friendly, there are newspapers strewn about, and there is almost nobody around. The perfect place to get some work done.

I missed Java Bob’s! Use to come here all the time in high school but since I’ve moved away a few years ago I haven’t seen much of the place. Still basically the same from what I remember it. Awesome service, great selection of drinks, good food available, decent prices. Blended chai latte is one of my favorites. All in all, don’t bother with Starbucks… you can find one of those in any 3 mi parameter of the world. Java B’s is the spot.

Great service, always with a smile — no matter how early or late in the day. Their espresso has a unique flavor you won’t find at all those chain cafes. The pastries are always fresh and delicious.

I go to this place all the time and i prefer it over any of the other coffee chains. The new owner and barista’s are always helpful. When you go there you should order the chai tea latte with a shot of mint– trust me you’ll love it!

Love it… for a small independent coffee house, Java Bob’s has held its own for a few years now… I especially enjoy the breakfast bagel sammiches…

Located conveniently near BART and the freeway, this is a great little coffee shop to grab something to go. It does have seating but the shop is small so take-out would probably be best. They have baked goods, sandwiches, smoothies and coffee. I had the chai latte with soy milk, which was delicious. So sweet, rich and cinnamony… it hit the spot. And for only $ 3.50. I definitely will be going there again.

Located at the corner of the busy Redwood Road, to the left of the Taco Bell plaza, resides a tiny coffee shop serving up a small, but good variety of coffees and baked goods. One can hardly tell how friendly this place is from the outside alone. I passed by on the way to BART one day to pick up a cup of almond mocha joy and a blueberry bagel. I was greeted warmly, served attentively and quickly. Service/Food/Prices/Environment: a convenient place for a quick coffee/breakfast run. They have a small, private parking lot in the back if street spaces(or taco bell parking) are unavailable.

3.5 stars… Definitely a great spot for a coffee shop! On the way to the 238 ramp, sits this quaint and quiet shop. Whenever I am in a rush, I stop on in to grab a cup of joe. The women working here are super friendly and there are lots of options when it comes to your drink. The prices are good and the sizes are larger than the bucks. I will definitely return when I need a fix before I hit the freeway!

FINALLY… I pass by this place all the time but they are always closed so when I passed by and it was open I stopped in. Good coffee, reasonable prices and fast service. trying to get back out on to Redwood Road is frustrating so I ended up having to roll down my window and do the girl thing… it works. So I’ll keep going to Peet’s which is just a block down and has a better quality of coffee.

Amazingly… average =/ The service is great and very friendly! I ordered a small cup but I spilled my coffee as soon as I left the shop. The lady was kind enough to refill it for me. Unfortunately, the coffee was painfully mediocre. I really wanted to like Java Bob’s because it is so close to the Bart Station, and because it is organic and fair trade. Too bad, no dice. Organic it may be, but it tastes no different from Peets or Starbucks. I love me a good cup of coffee, and this was not it. Wasn’t very rich, and the consistancy was not smooth. I guess I’ll have to stick ot my well loved Eon’s Coffee at Hayward.

On my way to trying to find the on ramp to Oakland and also trying to keep an eye out for a coffee shop I spot this place and swerved right into the parking lot. Nice parking with many spots. You wouldn’t expect it from the looks of it on the corner. It wasn’t busy when I went around 10:45 am. The woman, who I think is the owner, was super helpful and really nice. I ordered the largest size they had iced coffee. She gave me plenty of ice due to the melt factor. All of the coffee and half and half conveniently located and all together. Not enough Splenda, Sweet n’ Low was fine though. When I was tasting to make sure if it was sweet enough, the owner asked if I needed more ice. Very attentive and a great multi tasker if you ask me. I really liked the vibe of the place and will definitely come back the next time I’m over there. Seriously screw Starbucks, go here.
