The owner really knows her stuff about dog nutrition and has great recommendations to keep your pet healthy. She’s also more than happy to share her knowledge and provide you the help you need. I’m so glad to have this place near me.

Came here for a very overdue nail clipping. Staff was very good with my dog and we had no issues. The trim was fast and I was a walking with no appointment. I was referred here by my sibling who comes with a much larger dog then my much smaller dog (so they work with all dogs well). I would recommend this location. Being my dog is a short hair I will not be able to experience the haircut. Will be back :)

Absolutely THE WORST experience I’ve ever had at a groomer. Hearing my sweet little dog Unilocal for a few seconds from the back of the grooming area was frightening and traumatic to say the least!
Here’s what happened: We walked in for a quick nail trimming. My dog and I are no stranger to nail trimming as I get her’s done regularly either at a groomers or at home by myself if I’m crunched for time. About a minute or less after my dog being taken into the back, I hear horribly painful Unilocaling from the back. It was distinctive of pain and I knew instantly it was my pup. Not to mention, it lasted for a few seconds and was not a quick Unilocal by any means. I try to go into the back to see what happened only to see the cashier holler nervously at the lady in the back to call for help. CALL FOR HELP!!! What did they do?! I try to go back but the cashier says it’s ok and that I don’t need to. I’m not comfortable with that so I ask again and am allowed to go back there. When I go in the back I see my poor girl on one of the tall tables, backed into the corner, being held by two ladies. One is trying to cut her nails with a dremel, the other is trying to pin her down. The lady pinning her down fails and my dog is now backed into the corner standing on her hind legs getting her paw pulled and twisted by the lady with the dremel. I briskly head over to assist and see what is happening and they just comment that my dog’s paws are ticklish. UM NO! I mention that the neck collar they placed on her is too tight and is chocking her, plus they cannot hold her in that manner and get a good result. The just told me to «get into her face and tell her it’s ok». I go to my dog and try to calm her, but the ladies do not stop pulling and prodding my dog with the dremel. I try to take my pup and go, saying that this is a bad experience and I don’t want it to continue; they told me to hold on and they will just do the front paws so at least I got something done. Then they proceed to harass me about whether or not I’ve been to a groomer, if my dog is ok with nail trims, if she’s always afraid of tables, etc. Thankfully the lady at the cashier station came in the back at this time and put a stop to everything. She told the two ladies that they were doing it all wrong and she was going to take control. She picks up my dog and takes her into another back room where there are multiple dogs running around and two others being groomed. I make sure to come along. This lady does a MUCH better job and my dog is finally back to being manageable and not scared out of her mind. I ask what happened and the lady said she has no idea; my dog might not do well at the groomers (ugh stop with that! she loves spa days!!!) or that her hair got cut in the dremel. I ask if we can use normal nail cutters, and the lady tells me they don’t have those and aren’t comfortable using anything but the dremel. As she’s doing the nail trim, she continues to ask if my dog is always scared like this and if we go to groomers. I have to keep defending us the entire time. When she’s almost done she mentions that my dog’s hair makes her uncomfortable, and starts to trim all of the hair on my dog’s paws… only to ask after she’s done the first one if that’s ok with me. After doing so she comments that her and the other people are a bit nervous today since it’s so busy and that my dog probably got scared at their being rushed and so on edge. No, sorry lady, that can’t be it. We are finally done with the nail cutting and I go to walk my dog out. When I get to the cash register I find the lady who first took my pup in and asked her what happened. She finally admits that as she started to trim my dog’s nails my dog turned around and she «accidentally got the dog with the dremel». It took a few follow-​up questions to get the truth out of her which ended up being that she got the dremel caught caught on the side of my dog (like the side of her belly) and got it caught up in the hair and possibly on her skin as well, and she didn’t know what to do. OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! Then she made me pay for their junky service. Well, as my mom and I drive home we discuss the events (my mom waited for me in the shipping area as I went in the back to assist) and I find out that the lady who met us at the cash register at the end of the event (the lady who made my dog get hurt) was being rude to my mom while she waited. This worker was condescending and rude when my mom replied she wasn’t sure how old my dog was or how long I had her, then continued to harass her about how my dog must just be scared and bad with groomers. Never, ever coming back here again!!!
TLDR: they hurt my dog and didn’t confess to what happened until afterward, got the dremel caught in my dog’s fur long enough for her to Unilocal for at least 3 seconds, and harassed us about not being familiar with groomers when all my dog loves to do is get pampered by groomers. NEGATIVE STARS!!!

I usually go here to get my dog’s nails done and I browse the toys and collars while I wait. They have an awesome selection of boutique type items that you just can’t find in big chain stores. Not to mention they have a delightful little glass case full of pup cakes and cookies. I recently started feeding my dog raw and was seriously taken aback by how many wonderful brands they have there for both cats and dogs! Not to mention that they are one of the only places around that ALWAYS carries tripe, and in multiple varieties! When I was browsing for raw cat food, the owner or manager, came and assisted me and even allowed me to go home with some samples to try! Quality service! Quality food! Quality toys! Quality treats! Quality people!!! The best!

I Love Pawsitive Karma! I brought my Bichon Snoopy there for a groom and it was great! The staff are professional and friendly. Our groomer Ms. Vivien was wonderful. I will definitely be referring PK to friends and family.

We live in LA, but visit The area a few times a year with our two danes. When we are on walks, they are so happy when we make a quick stop here. Knowledgeable staff, cute dog accessories, with toys and treats for dogs of any size. If you have big dogs, that are avid chewers, they even have a few Nyla-​Bone brand toys which will last through a year of daily hard chewing.
If we lived local, this would totally be our regular go to spot!

Finally had the chance to try this groomer and let me say how happy I am to find one I feel comfortable and trust with my dog. When I first got there the groomer came out took the time to ask questions about my dog such as allergies, if she’s good with grooming ect. She asked questions about style and helped me decide what to pick. Then when I came to pick up my pup she came out looking adorable with a report card and a Baggie with a few treats. The report card is great I found it very helpful to know what my dog did good with and what she can work on. Thank you Pawsitive Krama and Carly

Called this morning to make an appointment for my Bichon and a woman named Chelsea said that they can’t take new clients until the beginning of next year?! Wtf. How does that benefit anyone? I will not wait until next year I’ll continue to go to Top Dog, I only wanted to try this place because they’re the only place open on Sunday.

I found this place on Unilocal,and it was also really close to home. This was Remy’s first time at the groomers and I was scared he wasnt going to let the girl do her job. Last experience was awful because the place that I went to, they put the dogs in cages and totally scared my little Remy, to the point that I couldnt take him to any other place. Finally, I decided to try out Pawsitive because I couldnt cut my dog’s nails on my own anymore. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and helped right away. Chelsey took Remy in and did an amazing job. She was very gentle and Remy wasn’t as feisty ad he usually gets around other people. Im very satisfied with their service and will definitely keep bringing little Remy in for more grooming and other treatments. Thanks Pawsitive (Cage free grooming salon) :)

I moved to Castro Valley with my Maltese Max exactly a year ago. I am within throwing distance of Pawsitively Karma so when Max needed his first California cut, I made an appointment and got him in. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and attentive. Max was done within3 hours, he looked great and most importantly, he was in great spirits. Every time I’ve been back, the same experience. For as long as I am in Castro Valley and Max is with me, there is only one place where I will take him to be groomed.

I always see this place when I’m fartin’ around Castro Valley and never bothered to go in until one day, I noticed that my best friend was tappin’ louder than normal on our walk up Castro Valley Blvd. I wanted it fixed before we headed back and remembered there was a place nearby that could do it.
Upon walking in, I was greeted by the owner. The boutique is so cute and they offer a selection of things that you can’t find as readily at the chain pet stores. The owner is very knowledgable. I was a bit surprised about the raw diet knowledge. I’ve done an incredible amount of research on my own previously and was sort of testing her. Am happy to report that she knows her stuff!
I brought my girl up and asked to have her nails trimmed. She was very scared but the groomer was so friendly and showed her so much love. They took her back and were done in no time! Her nails were perfectly manicured. I ended up buying a few treats and some items for my cat as well here.
I’ve been back since to get my girl her very first spa treatment. It was a great experience again. She is normally such a scaredy cat but they show her so much love here that she seems to stay pretty calm.
Anyway, this place is a great find! Really personable and knowledgable people here and caring groomers from our experience. They offer raw food here and high quality dry foods. Food and treats can be a bit pricey but it’s all good quality. Grooming services are awesome!

Until she passed with old age. they care of my newest family my chihuahua kind courteous they care of customers and there pets and have great toys and supplies give thema try you will be happy.

Sure it’s a bit of a drive but they’re the best imo. Competitive prices, great animal loving owners and staff, my little girl always looks and smells perfect afterwards. Best of all, pets are NOT kept waiting in a kennel all day stressed out. When I drop my pup off for her appointment is when she goes in to get groomed. What’s not to like?

You know that awkward moment when you walk into a small shop? Well that’s not the feeling you will get at this welcoming pet shop. Thanks to Kathlena. I came to Pawsitive Karma to get my dog’s nails grinded as well as teeth cleaning. While I waited Kathlena did a great job showing me around and I was amazed by the amount of quality dog supplies (food, treats, toys, etc). This store carries nothing but the best for your companion: dehydrated dog food, cloth dog recovery cones (better than those annoying plastic ones), and full service grooming in the back. Nothing but «pawsitive» vibes from this place. This was my first visit and won’t be our last. Also thank you to Amanda for taking care of our dog Kipu.

Stopped in today to inquire about nail trims for my Great Dane and they seem lovely, one of the girls used to have a Dane!
It was also my boy’s first birthday today and we picked up a happy birthday cake which he absolutely loved! It was a bit expensive but it made him happy and that’s all I care about.

Love this place! Our little Eva was skiddish at first, but almost immediately became comfortable in the place. Great, welcoming group of people, who seem to truly love animals. Also, the fact that they don’t crate and\or cage the dogs makes it all the more a better experience. The session report card, along with treats seals the deal! Thanks Pawsitive Karma,

Groomer Katrina update!
I used to come here to get my dog’s haircut from Katrina but she is no longer with Pawsitivekarma, she went over to Top Dog in Hayward! She’s very talented, my only groomer I wish to request!

I’ve taken my dog to several big and small groomers with mixed results. Big places can be a little less attentive and miss details. Small places can be overpriced and sometimes a little creepy. Not so at Pawsitive Karma.
My doxie mix needed a bath and they were able to take him in right when I called (granted it was a Monday morning). I walked into an immaculate retail space and was met with a warm greeting for me and my dog. Very quick service — he was in the bath before I left the building, and finished within an hour! If you remember that scene from Jurassic Park where the raptors are clicking their giant claws on the ground, then you have an idea what my dog’s paws look like. The groomers did an AMAZING job grinding down his nails. They even got his dew claws, which have been overlooked at most other groomers I’ve been to. I’m very pleased to have found Pawsitive Karma!
