If you like home town parades with lots of music, horses, clowns, cars, etc., this is the best. It’s well organized and managed. The Sheriff Officers, Highway Patrol and Fire Department help keep it clean and safe for families & kids. It’s the one chance during the year for local organizations, schools, etc. to let community see what they do & what is going on. If your bored by parades or not into community spirit, then find something else to for a few hours. If you do, this is the place to be.

Hmmm what to say about this? Both the other reviews are dead on. Here’s my take. If you don’t have small children, or a relative participating in the parade, stay away, far away. You’ll be bored to tears. If on the other hand, you have a small child who likes horses, you won’t find another parade where you can get closer to them than this one. You will probably still be bored to tears, but your kid will be thrilled. I can’t decide if I’m going to tell my kids about it this year or not… I give it 2 stars, only cause of the kids.

I spent the better half of the day on a walking adventure to this annual parade. There were horses(lots of them), clowns, and tons of businesses that catered to kid’s activities. My son was in awe(it’s always great to find entertainment that captures his imagination and spirit). I love Castro Valley because they always have awesome family-orientated events(because they are unincorporated and thus can afford such). While this great mother’s day/Cinco de Mayo event only happens once a year, I encourage anyone that has young children to definitely attend!
