Smog World

I had my car smog-​tested here on Saturday afternoon. I was referred to Smog World from another smog station because my car needed a special test (I have an old car). Smog World has a very fair price, quick and generous testing (my car didn’t pass the first try, so they gave it a second round figuring it wasn’t heated up enough in the first place, and then it passed), and great customer service!!! I plan on coming back when I need another smog check. Thanks guys!!! I really appreciate you!

We’ve used the services at Smog World several times over the past few years. Prices are competitive and service is very quick. We’ve never had to wait other than the time to perform the test and complete the paperwork.

Closed Sundays.
Fast service; however, it is unclear when arriving that you should get out of your car and go into the office, rather than remaining in your car, or heading to the open window facing the front. Multiple people who arrived at the same time were equally confused.
Smog check was satisfactory. I may come again. All employees were polite and friendly. They were the best part of the operation. Thank you!

Last choice. Service was provided. Did not accept other coupons as stated. Did not accept credit card. I hope to never return.

Wasn’t my first choice, went to another station after reading rave reviews but when I arrived there one of the employees came out and said the smog guy wouldn’t be in until an hour. Go figure.
I drove down the street and found this place.
I got helped right away, quoted 10 minutes and low and behold I was done and my car passed! Price was reasonable.
Definitely recommend this place, will come back again for sure!

Sadly I only can review on them not being to work on time. Says they open at 8am, well I got there at 7:55 am and no one showed. I stayed until 8:10, left and came next door, dropped the car off, walked to get coffee and they still wasn’t open. When I came out it was 8:17 and they were opening up. Smh… Bad for business. People have things to do.

Showed up first thing in the 8am on Saturday to get a smog check. Employee showed up late to open the shop. Price seemed a little higher than normal (41.95) but good thing they accept competitors coupons! Tried to use a coupon from nearby Castro valley competitor but was told he couldn’t accept it because it was on my phone instead of a printed copy. They should probably specify that on their sign.
After coupon was rejected I asked how much he could give me off and he said $ 5. Didn’t feel like arguing, Other places charge $ 29.95 without all this coupon hassle so I took my business elsewhere.

Such wonderful & friendly people working there! They honored the other guy’s coupon. Also it was done within 30 mins. Fast and friendly!

Great and quick service! In and out in less than half an hour! It is conveniently right across the street from a gas station and Burger King if you need to get a snack or food!

There are lots of smog shops on Castro Valley Blvd., but I highly recommend Smog World across the street from Arco gas station. They are a family run struggling company, inexpensive, accept others coupons, super nice and often have coupons in the Castro Valley Forum weekly paper. Please take your smog check business to these awesome folks and help them stay in business. I am going to recommend them to all of my friends in the area.

These guys were great. They accepted a smog coupon I had from another shop and I was out of there in 20 minutes.

Ripped off on my oil change!
Told me my car needed a special oil filter for an extra $ 10. No such thing! looked at my previous bills for oil change and I have ever been charged for that. Should have gone somewhere else.
Highly recommend staying away for oil change!

The dealer I tried to go to couldn’t smog our vehicle because their guy was out on disability. Then another dealer we tried to go to couldn’t do it because their smog machine was down. A good friend of mine recommended this place and told me it’s quick and inexpensive. These guys performed the smog while we waited and the price was a lot less than what dealers charge. I highly recommend these guys!

I called them before going to do my smog. They said that no one was there and they can have it done within 15 minutes. Well to my surprised, they did just that. I was in and out with in 15 to 20 minute. Thanks for doing such a great speedy job.

Nice local smog station that is Star Certified if your vehicle requires it. Service is no nonsense and straight to the point. Prices are competitive and they offer to match competitor prices as well as accept competitor coupons. It’s test only station so if you don’t pass, you have a free retest within 30 days like other stations. Plenty of parking at this station so if you drive something nice, you don’t have to worry too much about who or what park next to your vehicle. I’m not giving them 4 stars because my car passed, but because it failed and the tech at least offered some insight as to what might be the cause. This place really does try to get your vehicle to pass and not try to stiff you to make a buck. Some days, the staff is more friendly than other days, hence the 4-​stars.

I this place still open. I went to get my car smoged and they have not been open.

It’s a smog place. So why 5 stars? These guys are fast and helpful. Price is standard. Wait is minimal. I’ve used them a number of times over the years for our cars. The last time I had a problem due to a code reset that occurred a few weeks before the car was brought in for smog. It failed. To make a long story short– I had to bring the car back 3 times until it passed. I went a week past their 30-​day retest policy, but they were very accommodating and did not charge me again.

Great local smog checking business. Even though we all are required to get them done, it’s always so much better when you know your car will pass and it is easy and quick and not too expensive. I highly recommend this place over Jiffy Lube or some other corporate entity who just want to take your money. At Smog World, if they notice your car might not pass they will let you know so that you can fill ‘er up with gas or go change the oil, but they are only trying to be helpful and make sure that our cars pass the dang smog test!
