After searching for a long time, I found Dr. Wigginton. I had great experience with her the first time. The next year, I tried to make an appointment with her again and I was told to see her assistant Sarah Lindahl. I thought her assistant should be good as the doctor was very good. Unfortunately, I had bad experience with her. She was nervous and even stuttered for a couple times.
I went there for annual health check, but I got a surprise medical bill afterwards. I contacted my insurance company, and I was told the code was not preventive but diagnostic. Then I tried to find the reason for it as the doctor assistant did not tell me about it when I was seeing her. After making many phone calls, I still could not access to the doctor assistant or the doctor herself, or some reliable information from the hospital. On the contrary, I have been constantly getting the paper mails and automatic phone calls from shutter easy bay foundation for the payment of the medical bill. I called back, they just told me to wait for a result. Bad coordination!
Patients need CARE but not HARASSMENT. That realy bothers me and I thought just pay for that in order to stop the constantly mails and automatic phone calls from Sutter Easy Bay foundation. However, I think I have the right to know the written explanation from the assistant doctor herself.

The good thing — during my first and only visit there was no waiting time.
The bad things :
My first appointment was cancelled a day before, without any advanced notice.
A couple of months later I needed an urgent prescription. My doctor was away for 2 weeks and I was asked by the office to wait for her return. It took a lot of effort to have them ask another physician to write that prescription for me.
A couple of days ago I had my second appointment that I had scheduled a while ago. Again, the evening before they called me to cancel. The explanation that I received was that they «didn’t realize that my doctor is nor working on that day»
So 2 out of two canceled appointments with less than 24 hours notice and refused to help me with an urgent prescription

Had my baby this past summer (June 2015). I already knew I did not want to deliver at St. Rose due to the cleanliness and age of the facility. So I switched my OB/​GYN from Tri-​city health center to Bay Valley. BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE!!! It was a night and day difference in care and hospitality. I received my ultrasounds here with no problem and also took the child birth preparation classes as well. the cafeteria food is not bad! The chocolate pudding was my favorite but hey who can mess up chocolate pudding right?
The hospital called me a few days before my due date to register me for my stay which I thought was great and helpful since the last thing you want to do when your in labor is check in and register. The staff, nurses were very comforting, understanding and so kind! Before my labor I heard all these horror stories but in the end I had such an AMAZING experience! Every mother deserves that and even though labor is always a great experience some women do not get that privilege and I truly have the labor and delivery department to thank for that because I might not have had the same experience at another hospital. I was in labor for over 24 hours and even though I did not have a natural labor like I had intended, this hospital does emphasis and encourage that a natural labor is best if it is something the mother desires. The staff DID NOT PRESSURE ME INTO DOING ANYTHING I DID NOT WANT TO! I Even though my ob/​gny was not able to make it to my delivery I could not have asked for a better doctor and could not thank this particular gentleman enough (Michael MCGLYNN). this man was personable and honest with us, not to mention highly knowledgeable. My spouse and I are very skeptical when it comes to the medical field and prefer a holistic approach, so you could understand our concern for having a doctor come in whom we did not previously meet.
As for the nurses ELLEN K, SUSAN, NATALIE, CINDY, ALLISON, and DEBRA are only a few to name that I could not thank enough. These women made me feel so beloved nor could I believe the immense compassion they all showed me. like I had said before, you always hear the bad things that go along with labor but this is far from that. The nurses and doctors are so gracious that I refuse to have another baby anywhere else and I pray that if I do, that doctor McGlynn will be the one to deliver.
As for the actual hospital stay and presentation… A+!
the hospital is almost brand new, and super clean. I don’t know if this was on purpose but our room was quite large and the bathroom was as well. It was as though we were staying at a 4 star hotel. Room service three times a day. I cannot stand hospitals but all in all my spouse and I left and agreed we would miss that experience and never forget what a lovely one it was. I truly wish and hope that all mother have the same experience I did. So if you are reading this and are considering delivering at Eden then I hope then reaches you well and you make the right decision forward by registering with this particular hospital.

I have only been a patient for several months and up until recently they seemed to be ok. I did have a few problems and had to change doctors but once that was done everything seemed ok. I am currently being treated for an illness that causes me pain. I normally do not get ill over the weekend however this time I did. I started calling on a Saturday morning and after 3 calls I finally received a call back telling me to go to urgent care. I arrived at urgent care waited for an hour and a half only to be told by the doctor that he wanted to send me to emergency because my temperature was 99 degrees. I informed him that it was warm in the building and asked if he could please examine me. He agreed however he was clearly unprepared. He refused to review my chart after I told him several times that I was a regular patient there. He told me at least two times that I could leave if I wanted to and when I asked him if he was refusing to give me medical treatment he did not answer only said lets do the examination. The exam consisted of him taking a flash light looking at me never actually doing any kind of exam. He even asked me to show him something that was very personal as if I was lying to him. This was very degrading. He then took the time to review my chart and informed me of why I was in pain which is what I told him. He instructed me to take medication that my regular doctor told me not to take even though I told him I was instructed not to take it. Needless to say I remained in pain having to stay in the bed the entire weekend. On Monday morning I began calling the office to see if I could get an appointment with my doctor or another doctor. I was told my doctor would not be back until the next day and there weren’t any available appointments. At 9:37am I received a call from my doctors office telling me that they were sending me a prescription over to my pharmacy on file. By 11:30am I hadn’t heard anything so I called and they said they hadn’t done it yet. at 3:45pm I received a call letting me know the prescription had been sent. at 4:13pm I called my pharmacy and was told nothing had been received. At 4:45pm my pharmacy informed me that they had called the office twice having been put on hold both times where they could hear people talking in the background. They even went as far as to try yelling into the phone to try and get someone’s attention but it did not work so the pharmacy faxed over a form. At that time it was already 5pm and the office was closed. It has now been 3days that I have not only been in pain but yet to receive any treatment. I have never ever been through anything like this before and would say as long as your not seriously ill and you don’t need medical attention «After Hours» then Sutter East Bay Castro Valley maybe for you.

I’ve been going here to see Dr. Anna for 16 years now. Great service, she’s very friendly I highly recommend her.
The facility is brand new and SUPER clean. I suggest every woman come to her as their Ob-​gyn.

Called to make an appointment, was told I can only see Sarah Lindahl. I told them I didn’t want to see her due to several previous Bad experiences with her and how she would make my experience not a great one due to being horrible at feedback, follow through and communication. So I kept wanting a different, better doctor and they told me I couldn’t. California law states I have a RIGHT to see who I want to and who I want for my doctor but whatever. Went in for my Appointment and just as I suspected, my experience with Sarah Lindahl was horrible. I wad told she would give me my results in a few days by calling me herself. No call. I called the location. They told me she will call me at certain times. No calls. It has been over a week and still no call back. I am very disappointed and unhappy with her and this is not the first time which makes me wonder why she is still working there. A great doctor is attentive and caring and is for the patients and sticks to their word on things and is professional all around. I do not get that from her.
Also, Every time I see her, my Annuals are abnormal which causes and costs me to do another test to remove it… but when I have seen the other doctors, that same Annual Exam is normal. Something doesn’t add up there… How is it normal when I see other doctors and with her it is not each time… Odd Coincidence.
So word of advice:
Don’t see Sarah Lindahl. Very unprofessional, made my experience horrible, I even called and told them I was not happy with the service she provided and her as a doctor. They acted like they didn’t care much. If someone wants another doctor other than her, they have a Right! Noone should be told they can only see her. Maybe people do not wanna see her because of how she is and how unprofessional and not great of a doctor she is. NEVER again. Save yourself the trouble and head ache and don’t see her.
I am switching to someone else and a different OBGYN location in the bay area because now this location is saying they do not support and have messed up my insurance… and then, the receptionist, when called about them messing up my Insurance (which causes you to pay them OUT OF POCKET, instead of billing your insurance) has told me that this issue with the insurance has happened MANY of times and that this is not the first time this location has done this…
On top of that since I left it seems as a revenge factor for not coming to her, I Have been charged an arm and a leg for her awful services and they will continue to come after you or maybe she does. Glad I left… What an awful place and so unprofessional of a doctor. Definitely disgusted with how she handles her services, practice and treats people by sending unnecessary bills.
After hearing that, I am going to a new location. That is unfortunate… How frustrating…

I have a very bad experience with this hospital from the very first time. I called to make an appointment and should wait for it with Dr Wigginton for TWO MONTHS…
And they asked me to make an appointment with Sarah Lindhal just in three weeks, and this is the closest date they had. So ok. I made them both in three weeks with Sarah and in two months with Nancy. I didn’t like Sarah during appointment at all. She was acting like a robot. Any advise, any joke, any useful information. I didn’t feel comfortable at all. And I was very surprised when I called a day before my appointment with Dr Nancy to specify the time and was very surprised when I’ve been told that my appointment was cancelled.(oh, really???) When I ask to make a new appointment with Dr Nancy, I’ve been told that I can only see Dr Sarah. You know, this is not a way I want to be treated.

We just had our baby delivered yesterday at this hospital. Let me just say this hospital is the best hospital I ever visited. New building, new equipment, excellent customer service, very short wait time and very experienced staff. It has to be five star hospital

I recently switched over to Sutter Health from Kaiser due to change of insurance. I chose Dr. Nancy Wigginton and the staff at Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation because of the convenience (located right next to Eden Hospital), the great things that I’ve heard about Dr. Wigginton and the super high-​tech new office.
I am 8 months into my pregnancy and the experience couldn’t have been better. The staff at this brand new office is incredible and attentive. Everything is very extremely efficient. They have an online medical system that allows you to review your lab results, medical records, email your doctors, schedule appts, etc. all in just one click. I love the convenience!
Similar to what other reviewers said, Dr. WIgginton is busy. I often have to wait for her at least 20 – 30 minutes at every appt. I would say that is probably the only downfall of my experience so far. But when you meet Dr. Wigginton, you can understand why she runs late. She’s extremely patient with you, thorough and really does answer all your concerns and questions. Not to mention, I have heard NOTHING but great things about her from the nurses at Eden. That says something right?!
I am a big fan!

I was a little hesitant at first when they booked me to see a PA instead of an MD, just because when it come to an OBGYN I have had bad experiences in the past with PAs and nurses. However, I went and I was thrilled with the service that I received from Sarah Lindhal. She listened, she was knowledgeable, and she was gentle, lol.
I will probably ask for her by name next time.

So far, so good for my first visit to Sutter Health center. Quick check-​in at counter, superb customer service. It took less than 5 mins to see Dr. Welsh who was taken of me. Pretty kind and gave me details what happened to my illness. Thank you much!

Although they still have some kinks work our with their check in process, the layout of their new medical offices combined with the new technologies and methods they use to attend to you is a huge improvement that clearly shows with how efficient and effective my appointment went.
My first visit at their new building (20 101 Lake Chabot Rd.) was drastically different from my other appointments at their old office. The wait time was minimal and it felt nice to wait in the actual (and spacious) exam room rather than out in the lobby. Once you are in your room, pretty much everything comes to you. The nurse takes your vitals, weight and height all in the room. I didn’t even have to get up to be weighed as the exam table I was sitting on also acted as a scale! It was so high tech we even joked with the nurse that the only thing that table was missing was a massage feature! When it came time to get some blood work done, I thought I would have to go down to the lab but surprisingly I just had to wait in the room for the phlebotomist (hehe learned a new word while I was there) to come to me and take my blood from the room. Overall it was really convenient!
What’s even better is that the move doesn’t seem to phase the (as always) awesome mood of all the staff. I still have yet to encounter one nurse here that is not friendly or great to talk to. Two thumbs way up for Sarah Lindahl, who is such a compassionate physician’s assistant. I’ve had bad experiences with an OB whose bedside manner was horrible but that’s never the case with Sarah; every time I go in to see Sarah she genuinely makes me feel like she remembers me and my history and that I’m not just another patient. With Dr. Sapugay being fully booked and busy, I’ve had to see Sarah instead but I’m more than glad to because I know I’m in equally as good care when seeing her.
I can’t rave enough about how great this place is. If they’d only been there a week since and everything went so smoothly, I can only imagine it will get better. Fingers crossed that this new setup doesn’t make the staff overworked but they all had nothing but good things to say about the move too.
Oh and I’m really loving the new building that they have moved to! It’s modern, clean and just overall looks great while also having a purpose.

i would give negative stars if i could!!! NOT ONLY MESSED THINGS UP WITH ME BUT WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY!!!
this is more for her office then her as a doctor since i have never even gotten the chance to meet her. i’m 21 weeks pregnant. I started going to her office from the beginning of my pregnancy. i would make appointments 2 months in advance (never with her since she was too busy, only the other available doctor whom i didn’t like how he talked to me at all) but it wasn’t ever good enough.
my first appointment was 9 weeks and everything went well. i saw the nurses which i was told would happen the first time. and loved them! they did an ultrasound as well. I then made an appointment for 13 weeks and 17 weeks. both with another doctor since she wasn’t available at all apparently for 2 months.
the week before my 13 week appointment i get a phone call saying that the doctor i was suppose to see wasn’t available that day either! so they put me for the next day, ok w. e, only a little annoyed since that makes it harder for my husband to get time off without being given 2 weeks notice. but it all worked out. at the appointment the doctor talked to me like a was a little kid. okay, i know im young (22) but i am not dumb. you can say parents without calling them mommies and daddies… He then proceeded to tell me that if they found out my baby had down syndrome that i can abort the baby since most parents do. well thank you for giving me that only decision. i was very insulted by this since he didn’t talk about my other options. fyi, i would never abort a baby at 22 weeks (or ever)!
again a week before my 17 week appointment they called to say that the day my appointment was made for was open by mistake and that the doctor I was suppose to see (the same one from my 13 week appointment mind you) wasn’t even in the office… okay, you had 2 MONTHS to tell me this… why did you wait a week until the appointment?!? i then told the woman don’t bother to reschedule because i was going to look for a new office.
a few weeks later i found a new doctor but to get my file sent to the new office i needed to fill out some paperwork. so i did and faxed it. a waited a week and heard nothing back. so i called. they said they never received it. THE NURSE HAD ACTUALLY NO IDEA I WAS EVEN Dr. WIGGINTONS PATIENT! IT WASNT IN MY FILE!!! i wrote down the fax number again and sent it right after i got off the phone. I called a little while later and they again said they never received it. They then proceeded to give me another fax number to send it to so i did and never heard back from them.
THE WORST PART OF ALL OF THIS!!!:
i get a phone call from my insurance company informing me that the doctors office filled out some papers incorrectly and never informed them who my doctor actually was (this was soooo suspicious to me, no one even the nurses knew i was suppose to be dr wiggintons patient!!!). they had called over and over again the office never replied. so the insurance company said they’re not getting paid the $ 600+ for my first appointment… sucks for them!
I am currently 21 weeks and have not been able to see a doctor for 2 months thanks to them… because i cant seem to get my file sent to my new office!!!
THIS IS THE MOST LAZY, UNORGANIZED, UN-​CARING DOCTORS OFFICE I HAVE EVER GONE TO!!! I WOULD NEVER WISH UPON ANYONE TO HAVE TO GO HERE!

I had a really bad experience with this place today.
I was supposed to have a 20-​week ultrasound and went to my appointment with my husband all excited. But when we got there, a lady at the office told us that the ultrasound place moved to another location over a year ago and they sent the notice to all the Dr. s office and dont understand why they kept sending people to the wrong place. Schocked and disspoainted, we immediatly called the new location to see if they can wait for us to get there, but they coundlnt since they are all booked today. So I called my dr.‘s office and asked to refer us to another place, but they didnt. They were very rude and didnt even admit that they made a mistake.
Mistakes can happen, i am not angry about it. But they way treats patients is horrible and very disrespectful. I never really felt comfortable asking questions or calling even when i have problems. When I called, I always had to wait for hours to get a call back from a nurse or PA.
I do not recommend this office to anyone. They may end up ruinning your most special moment in your life.

Dr. Anna Maria Sapugay is great, we just had our 1^st baby and she was superb. Being young adults my wife was looking for a doctor whom was not lets say dated… She is very attentive, supportive and encouraging. She is a type of person who you can feel comfortable with and open up to. We never once felt uncomfortable in any situation with her. The only reason I have to give 4 stars not 5 is due to her/​office timing. Don’t anticipate being seen in a timely fashion because 9 out of 10 times she will be running late. Other than that I have nothing but high regards to her and her office.

I decided I had to take off one star for the fact that I can no longer reach the office directly during business hours. All my calls get routed to a call center in Sacramento and I have to leave message and wait to have the office staff or doctor call me back (sometimes timely sometimes not). Also, I do not like it that they can’t even transfer me to the office — i have to explain my medical situation to people who have no idea how to help me anyway first before I can talk to anyone.

I see Dr Wiggington here and she is wonderful! I went to her even though I was not 100% covered for having my son because I love her so much. She is very caring and takes her time with you; so much that your wait could be as long as an hour just to be seen, so be prepared. All in all, it’s worth it. I highly recommed her and the staff at CVWH are all truely wonderful!

I visit the office infrequently due to my busy schedule. However, when I finally get around to thinking about my health I visit Dr. Leslie Hardy-​Hood. She’s not only knowledgeable, she’s friendly and easy to talk to (which helps when you’re not comfortable about discussing your health issues with strangers). I look forward to my visits because it’s like seeing an old friend.
I went to the office recently with unspecific complaints of pain. She immediately discussed all the possible issues and ordered all applicable tests. I’ve been complaining about the same symptoms for 6 months to other physicians to no avail! One visit with Dr. Hardy Hood and I hope to be on my way to a speedy recovery.
I’ve had issues in the past with female gynecologists and Dr. Hardy Hood is by far my best experience with a female doctor and one of my greatest experiences with a physician in general.

I wish I could write a better review, and I’m surprised and a little saddened that I was the only reviewer on here to have a bad experience with Dr. Hardy Hood. I am 13 weeks pregnant, and only went to the office twice. The first time I went, I met with Karen, a friendly and knowledgeable nurse, and then I met with the P.A. named Sarah (I forget her last name). Although she was knowledgeable, she wasn’t especially friendly and seemed even a little annoyed at our excitement of seeing our little bean on the ultrasound (we were 8 weeks at the time). But, at the time, I didn’t care because she wasn’t the main doctor and I was given a photo of my future baby.
I finally met with Dr. Hardy Hood at my 12 week appointment. She helped me to find my baby’s heartbeat on the doppler, which was cool. However, when that was over, she basically tried to run out the door. I was like, «Woah, lady! Wait! This is my first pregnancy, and I have questions!» She stayed to answer them, but seemed like I was holding her up or something, and would not give me details about how I can get the H1N1 vaccine or about a rare pain condition I have and how it relates to future birthing plans. I know that I’m not so knowledgeable about this process, but with this being my first pregnancy, is it too much to expect a doctor to appreciate your first timers’ concerns and need to feel special, not just like I’m a bump in the road or something.
Now I have to go all the way up to San Ramon to see a good doctor.

Castro Valley Women’s Health is a local office within the Palo Alto Medical Foundation group. My office switched insurance coverage and I was looking for local care. I really like Palo Alto Medical Foundation because all of my physicians are on the same page. I love how all information is stored electronically (securely), and my dermatologist in Fremont can view my primary care physician’s notes during a visit. Leslie Hardy Hood, M.D., FACOG is the absolute best doctor ever! She’s extremely knowledgeable and caring. Dr. Hardy-​Hood takes time with her patients, getting to know you, and remembers who you are and what was discussed at your last visit. She’s great!
