Vivint Solar

Couldn’t be happier. Basically I shopped around and vivint had the best deal where you buy the power and they took care of everything else. Process was simple and easy. From the time we spoke about solar until the system was turned on and I was saving money was three months. Not sure about all the reviews about shadiness; its pretty straightforward.
You pay a cheaper rate for your power and vivint takes care of everything else. it costs nothing to do it so I’m waiting to hear the catch and there just isn’t one. I am a big supporter of this company as they seem to be genuienly interested in helping the homeowner and saving our environment from dirty fossil fuels

I thought about going solar for many years. Last spring there was an extensive article in out local Desert Sun newspaper that listed a number of solar companies that operate in our valley. It told how many employees, how many installations etc. I picked three companies from that list and made contact with each of them. After Presentations from all of them I was most impressed with Sean and Vivint. I really liked the power purchase plan with no lease or money out of pocket. Everyone from this company has been honest, straightforward and did what they said they would do. I am a commercial HVAC technician with 40 years of experience and am very happy with the quality of the work and installation. We put the system online in August during the hottest most humid weather we have had in years. My bill from Edison would normally be in the $ 225 to $ 300 range. But with my Vivint system it was $ 129. I still got an Edison bill of $ 1.68. Since the summer ended it has been even better. I am more than pleased that I went ahead and had this system installed. My brother in law also went with Vivint and is very happy with his system.
It feels really good to look up and see the panels on my roof collecting clean energy.

Very shady company. I caught Sales Rep named Dan Maynard in multiple lies. As someone else mentioned, this rep also said he did my meter and works with SCE. After having nothing but problems and lies from this guy we decided to not go through with this company for solar.

Two weeks in a row a guy in a VIVINT shirt came by. Despite my no soliciting sign. I had a polite conversation the first time and told him I was not interested.
Today the same guy came around. I told him again I didn’t change my mind and kindly leave. He said he wasn’t selling anything so the sign didnt apply to him. Bizarre interpretation of his job!!!
I made it clear not to come back. I wasnt interested and he was harassing me. I work nights by the way. He said he was «licensed» to be here. I found that interesting. So i check my security system. Turns out he was loitering at my Electric meter.
The company better start informing employees about harassment and illegal activities.

These guys are horrible…2 guys in Vivent shirts came to my door tonight to tell me they were authorized by SCE to check my meter. Really? Since when does the electric company work with a solar company to have people check meters at 7:00 pm at night? They didn’t pay attention to my roof to see that I already have Sunpower panels up there? I’m calling SCE to report them. Shady business tactics! Weak, illegal and I wonder how many people fall for their lame attempts?

After looking at multiple options for putting solar panels on my home, a Vivint rep came to my door. Thinking that I knew all I possibly could, I was surprised to hear a different take on installing solar panels from a company.
This is not a lease, and not a purchase. Vivint owns the system, so they maintain every part of it, including replacing inverters. They simply sell me the power that the panels produce, which saves me about $ 70 a month in comparison to what I paid Edison. Basically its like switching to a MUCH less expensive utility provider. The solar panels produce most of my energy. They own the system, I save money.
Its the most logical way to save money and use solar for most people. Vivint wants the system to work amazing because if it doesn’t produce energy they don’t get paid. I want that because the more the system produces, the less I have to pay Edison.
PROS: I save money. They maintain the system and replace things that need it from their own dime. No out-​of-​pocket expense, or additional initial cost at any point. The rep was great. They are located full-​time locally in Cathedral City. The price for power can’t increase like Edison has done. You don’t have to worry about when you will «break even» because you are saving right away, not paying for the panels.
CONS: Long contract to buy energy from the panels (not that much different from having to use Edison). The design and licensing can take a while to complete. you don’t receive the tax credit for installing solar.
I would recommend just making sure you LOOK at the option, and then choose one the method of getting solar that will work best for you.
