I’ve passed by the unassuming Tennis Exxon station many times on my trips to Charlottesville. Despite the low prices for Exxon gas, I’ve never stopped in because they can often be busy and the pumps are usually full. But passing through this weekend, we spotted good prices and open spots and dropped in. We were a bit disappointed that they were out of 87 gas, but the price of 89 was still reasonable, so the wife filled her up while I went inside for snacks. And snacks they have. Tennis reminds me of the rural Virginia convenience stores I grew up with as a kid, where you can get anything from a corndog to chicken and«taters» to a sausage biscuit. And they have Hunt Brothers Pizza. Breakfast pizza, I will try you one day — but we were just here for light snacks and drinks and just got a couple of bags of pork rinds and drinks. And I don’t think I’ve ever seem more options for pork rinds/cracklins in my life. Salt ‘n Vinegar — very nice. I was a little annoyed that they ripped the«Out of 87» stickers off all the pumps just after we left, but thems the breaks sometimes. I wouldn’t hesitate to stop here again on one of our C’ville day trips.

Why pay a buck for air, when you can fill your tires for free at Trenis. No matter how many tires you have, free air, complimentary, what a deal!

I’m being generous with stars here. So yeah. I travel toward Opal sometimes to do odd jobs for extra cash. Don’t get me wrong. I like this place. And a full star for being open at 4am. But. Why don’t you have any cheese pizza? I was hungry on my way home from doing some wood chopping and i had seen the sign for pizza. I adore Hunt Brothers but pepperoni upsets my stomach. This is the first Exxon that hasn’t offered to cook a slice for me while i waited.(see ither Exxon review) still. I can get over this. The lady that works early in the morning is super nice. Just don’t come sniffing for gooey cheese pizza here.

Your standard country version of an outlet for a major gas chain. Appears to be run by the same folks who run the Trenis Hardware store next door. You can pay at the pump and gas up(which is what I did). There is also your standard Tiger Food Mart or whatever Exxon is calling it these days — for sandwiches, snacks, bottled water, soda, coffee, toiletries and such.
