They let us arrive super-late at night, and actually answered the door when I buzzed. This is apparently a remarkable thing, as on the earlier leg of our trip, we had to go to 4 hotels in central New York before we could find one that picked up their phone, had rooms, or answered the door after 12 a.m. Pelokie’s was there and available, made quick work of getting us checked in, and served up a relatively clean and well-ventilated room in an easy-enough to find spot right off I-87. The downsides, well, mainly it is a little outdated, with carpets, and a heavily scented cleaning product in the room(we were putting our kid down on the carpet in her little baby tent, so I was worried the heavy smell might keep her up.) Also — it was hard to get information from the guy because of basically a language gap or my inability to explain myself well, but we were out of milk for the baby, and he told me I had to drive into town to get any grocery items(I swore I said milk and store, but no matter) — but we found out after breakfast that morning upon our return to the motel, that there was a little gas stop and convenience store right out front. Lastly, and this I don’t feel at all bad complaining about, one of our towels seriously had a like blood stain on it. Not horror movie, more like a shaving or cooking knife-cut stain, but still. Super duper gross to be wiping your kids face and find that on your towel. I told the hotelier and the maid and handed it to her but my apologies if you find it again. I should’ve trashed it. Cheap night in mid-August for like $ 70 plus tax(but that’s around midnight.) Worth returning and a great spot for budget travel and hikers/hunters/fishers. And there’s a pool that seems to be kept pretty clean!
