Went to go see The Martian and the employee in the box office told me I couldn’t bring in my Nalgene water bottle. I offered to dump out the water and refill it at the water fountain, but she said I wasn’t allowed to bring it in anyway. Insurance purposes she said. Two stars because I asked for a refund and got it. Anyone who doesn’t let someone bring their own empty water bottle into their theatre doesn’t deserve my business. Next time I’ll go to Hudson.

This is definitely my favorite movie theater in New York, and possibly the best theater I have ever been to. Generally very small, quiet audiences* and very nice prices. Lovely big antique feel to it, with balconies and a stage and carvings. The only thing I could complain about is that there are only two screens. *except when we went to see«New Moon» the day it came out! OMG I hate screaming teenage girls!!! Some of us actually want to hear what the actors are saying!

I just realized that I give too many 5 star reviews and I was hoping to find some mediocre places to give lower reviews and improve the bell curve, but the Community Theatre is very worthy of 5 stars. The building itself is an old theater on Main Street and Catskill and the balcony has been converted to be a second theater. I took my daughter tonight to see a movie and the theater is a throwback to another place and time… one adult, one child, small popcorn, large soda and a kit kat for less than $ 20? You can’t beat that.
