We had our honeymoon there, it was so beautiful. The room was impeccably clean and decorated, it was quiet and romantic. The view is amazing and the animals on the property give you such a happy and lovely experience. The only thing that was slightly disappointing was the water, the rooms have this large soaking tub that my husband and I just wanted to relax in. But the sulfur smell is so bad there is just no way, I’m sure it’s because it’s natural well water; but it’s just so strong we didn’t get to enjoy it. Other than that, this was one of the best places I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. I recommend it 100% you will be happy you stayed here!

The Kaaterskill is a really beautiful place to have an outdoor wedding. The venue is literally on a farm with a pretty lake. The cocktail hour and ceremony took place on the grass overlooking the lake and the reception took place in large party tents. It was certainly a gorgeous place to get wedding but my only complaints were that it is pretty buggy, walking on grass during the first half of the party wasn’t the easiest thing to do, and there wasn’t any seating options for the elderly during the cocktail hour. This is a perfect location for couples who are outdoorsy and fun.

I adored this place. The décor was impeccable! Like walking into an artsy aunt’s beautiful bohemian flat, but not in Greenwich village, and rather in the Hudson Valley. There were llamas and they looked they might also be in love. I would return in a second if I had the chance. They even set up a bonfire down by their lake during the reception. Highly recommended. I photographed a wedding here, as I am a professional wedding photographer with Hazelphoto do tcom.

This farm is beautiful. It has a magic pig named Victoria. My wife and I have visited here and liked it so much we decided to get married there too. It’s a bit hidden but I think that’s what we liked about it. A good place to get away from the city.

My cousin just had her wedding at the Kaaterskill, and I have almost nothing but good things to say. I’ll start with the two negatives, though, just to get them out of the way: 1. The water in the guest rooms and kitchen smells like sulfur/farts/rotten eggs. I mean, it’s extreme. Very, very extreme. All of the rooms have Jacuzzi’s, and I just can’t imagine submerging myself in one of those tubs with the smell of the water. Peeee-yew! 2. The venue is beautiful, but it’s really up to the renters to make it what they want it. It takes a *lot* of work to set things up(benches for the ceremony, room for the reception, etc.), so you have to be prepared to put some sweat into the space. That being said, it was totally worth it to work hard. My cousin’s wedding ended up being the most beautiful wedding I’ve been to in my life. It was also great to be able to rent out all of the guest rooms for the wedding party so we were all together. There’s a giant/modern kitchen so you can cook or keep things cold in the fridge. All of the other living spaces are so totally kitschy. There are artifacts and knickknacks and weird things all over the place. I can’t even begin to describe some of the things you’ll find in the guest spaces… that’s really part of the fun of staying here! Anyway, the landscaping is beautiful. And there are fainting goats! And a pig named Victoria! And chickens! And bunnies running everywhere. And you can have firewood delivered so you can make a bonfire and cook s’mores. Really I can’t say enough about what a nice space this is. Hopefully one day everyone can rent out the rooms again and we can celebrate one of their anniversaries!

My husband and I got married upstate a week ago, and we decided to have our wedding party stay at the Kaaterskill. We were thrilled with the accommodations and the service. The setting is beautiful, and very peaceful– out every window you have a view of the pond and hills in the distance. When you open your sliding door, you can hear ducks quacking by the pond and a rooster crowing in the distance– it’s a total country experience. The rooms are fairly simple, but each one has a working fireplace, flat screen tv, kitchenette, and large jacuzzi tub. We loved going back each night to relax with a bottle of wine. If you decide to rent out the entire inn, there is a large kitchen and tv room that you will gain access to upstairs. It has a very cool«old school» rustic lodge feel to it– bear skins on the floor, a pool table, and lots of random knick knacks that give the place character. Our family often stayed up late playing pool and hanging out in that room together. Management is very friendly and accommodating. They were quick to answer all of my inquiries when I made the booking, and worked closely with me all year to make sure my guests were all able to book their rooms appropriately. Two of my guests traveled with small children, and the staff kindly set up playpens in their rooms prior to them arriving. During our stay, management contacted me twice to make sure I was happy and to see if there was anything more we needed. It is important to note that the Kaaterskill is not a bed & breakfast– they do not service meals at this inn. However, the kitchenette allows you to make/keep your own food in the room, and there is a cute farmer’s market down the road. Also, the staff does not come in to do housekeeping during your stay unless you request it ahead of time or are staying for more than three nights. However, we didn’t mind any of this. We liked the privacy, and appreciated that the inn isn’t wasteful. Also, we knew that if we needed anything we could ask the staff members who were always nearby. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay at the Kaaterskill! We look forward to returning this winter.
