We had a great stay at the Villas at Cave Creek during our recent trip to AZ. Cave Creek is a very small town. The villas are within walking distance to the main strip, but far enough removed that you get absolute quiet(not that the town is very loud itself). If you’re into hiking, the villas are also situated right next to the main hiking trail in Cave Creek — up Black Mountain. We did it twice during our stay. It can be tiring(bring water!), but the thrill of the climb and the views you’ll get are worth it. Many a domestic dog passed me, too, so I had to keep going. Our two-bedroom villa was very spacious. In fact, it was more like a three-bedroom villa because the loft room has a sofabed, closet, and a closeable door. The only challenge was moving the furniture out of the room so we could pull out the sofabed. The chair doesn’t fit through the door, so you have to hoist it up and over the loft wall. The master bedroom was HUGE. It also had its own bathroom, vanity area, chair, widescreen flat TV, and a huge closet. Off the master was a sliding glass door that led to the outdoor washer/dryer closet and hot tub. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing under the stars before heading to the very comfortable king-size master bed. The full kitchen was a good size, too, but they also crammed the dining room/table in there, too. When it’s pulled out, you can’t really walk around the kitchen. Luckily, we didn’t use it much. The living room was very spacious and came with a widescreen, flat TV as well, along with DVD player and CD player. Free Wi-Fi is also available in the unit. They’re also big on recycling, providing a recycling bin for your cans, plastic, paper, etc. We filled up the recycling bin more than the garbage can. We also tried out the fitness room one morning. It’s got a few machines, but it was still more exhilarating to climb Black Mountain in the open air for exercise than be stuck in a small room. There are two small side-by-side pools in the center of the resort complex. One of them gets more sunlight than the other, so that one was warmer, but still not as warm as I would have liked it. Needless to say, we didn’t stay in too long.
