Best park in Cayce/West Columbia. Great river views, access to the Congaree, and great place to exercise. Dog Friendly(leashed dogs). Great place for a picnic(go to the right of Gervais St. bridge if it is warm as the chicken factory can stink.

Great spot to relax after a nice Sunday brunch and wind down on one of the nice park benches. Rarely have I never been to not park and get into the river walk. The best thing about it is it’s free to the public!

This review is specifically for the Amphitheater, I went to an evening production of Dracula the weekend before Halloween. It was my first time to this Amphitheater. The tiers are set up so that you can bring folding chairs and have plenty of room. The scenery of the river behind the stage was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately the city planners got this one wrong. The actual amphitheater is sandwiched between a large road(378) and a large riverfront restaurant. There are no noise buffers. Obviously this is a problem for hearing dialog and the noise keeps you from getting lost in the production. I wanted to like this place more but would have a hard time paying for a nice production here due to the noise issues.

This is from Cayce’s website and then I will add my own experiences below this. The Cayce Riverwalk opens the Congaree River for walking, jogging, bicycling, and just gazing at the natural beauty. Its bridges, boardwalks, overlooks, and lighted central path will accommodate all levels of physical access. Its design evokes the natural quality and echoes the first riverfront settlement of 1750’s Granby. You can fish for Striped Bass in the Congaree or watch for eagles in the towering pines. It is a place of wonder in the heart of Cayce. You can walk the two and a half miles to old Cayce or linger in the over 46 acres of river park. Historical markers have been placed throughout the park to provide visitors with the background of the area. 2.5 miles of lighted, paved pathways and wooden boardwalks Scenic overlooks on the river and waterfalls Seating and picnic areas Covered picnic shelters* 24-hour security Emergency call boxes Restroom facilities Convenient Parking …and, the entire park is ADA accessible My take: The Riverwalk in Cayce holds multiple meanings to me that I will share in hopes that others will want to make their own beautiful memories there. One, the AWESOME amphitheater, the amphitheater is where the Gervais Bridge starts on the(West Columbia side) and where I attend a community Easter Sunrise service each year with several different churches/denominations in the area … verbally hearing God’s word, knowing that He died on the cross for me, listening and watching the water flow down the river, waiting for the sun to appear over the horizon, and the movement of all God’s creatures … it is «BREATHTAKING». Two, it is a peaceful place to take a stroll by yourself or with someone, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. The view from the Riverwalk to down town Columbia is awesome. Columbia is not a «big» city by any stretch of the imagination, but on a beautiful clear day, I just find myself just viewing the skyline, admiring some of the old buildings, new buildings, and all the sights and sounds that grab my attention. If you are ever in the area, it is worth a few minutes of your time to just walk, explore, and enjoy.
