My boyfriend and I are on a mini vacation from LA. We found this place by looking on Unilocal and we were not let down, they had the most amazing rocky road malt!!!

I love these little olé timey burger and malt shops. They screem history and good food. This place is no different, big juicy burgers, fries, shakes and malts make for a great mountain meal no matter what the weather’s like. After a great snowboarding session, bike ride, hike or after relaxing in a cabin there’s no better way to finish your day then a burger and ice cream shake.

Had a burger and onion rings tonight. I was pretty unimpressed. My husband liked the burger. He said it wasn’t the best, but wasn’t the worst. We’ll probably just stick with The Cottage burgers from now on.

Can’t give any starts because when we got there at 7:45 pm they were closed saw someone inside but not open. Disappointed because we went out of our way, but might still try again based on reviews… better call first in winter I guess…

If you ever on the way to Big Bear make sure to stop at the Old Cedar Glen Malt Shop and try my favorite Low Rider Burger…

Great burgers, great fries, and great shakes! This place has it all! Burgers remind me of good ol’ fashioned backyard bbq style burgers. The fries are fresh cut from potatoes(little bit like in-n-out but thicker) and shakes are nice and thick. The prices are very fair($ 8.50 for most burgers with fries) and customer service was attentive and friendly. I definitely will be back soon!

This place most likely has the best burgers on the mountain. I used to live right up the street and we could walk there. The shakes are great too. They give you a lot of food.

Good burger /Great Shakes on the Mountain! So friends of ours invited us up to Lake Arrowhead for a short weekend trip and they suggested we go to Cedar Glen Malt Shop on the way home. A 50 s diner throw back with Marilyn and Elvis on the bathroom doors and burgers named for classic cars. It’s a fun little place that has a good variety of burgers and great shakes. LOCATION and AMBIANCE(Rating 4) It’s a small place with very little parking on a busy 2 lane highway. It’s probably been there since the 50’s so the décor makes sense. The only thing that looks updated is a concrete front porch step.(good thing because many have tripped taking the Big step out previously including our friend). SERVICE(Rating 3) The waitress was somewhat friendly enough but not helpful in our selection of burgers. All I asked for was the most popular and she couldn’t tell me. She did come back for re-fills however and it’s a burger joint so expectations were not high. DODGEDESOTO(Rating 4.25) A Pastrami Cheeseburger that is pretty darn good. They claim 1⁄3 lb burgers, but they cook down it appeared to me. They are well seasoned so taste before you even think about putting more on. The pastrami is a great addition and the American cheese was a good combination. I ordered mine with«Frings», which worked out great! It’s a mixture of french fries and onion rings for those of us who can’t decide. VANILLAMALT(Rating 4.75) Served in a traditional malt glass and the stainless steel mixing cup with the left-overs, it brings you back to the way it’s supposed to be done. They’re not skimpy on the malt and the flavor of the vanilla ice cream was heavy on vanilla and tasted great. It was extremely rich and creamy and warranted a drink to wash it down afterwards.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Love the chili. Love the Burger. Too cold to try the malts, but just right to have a nice cup of hot chocolate. Thank You for a pleasant experience.

I hadn’t been here in 11 years and the food used to be much, much better. I ordered the club sandwich and it wasn’t even cut into four squares, as club sandwiches are supposed to be prepared. The sourdough bread was stale, under-toasted and tasteless. In fact, the entire sandwich was really quite bad. The fries were better, but nothing special. The chocolate shake was good, but McDonalds shakes are still superior. Service was good. All in all, I would never return for the food, it was just bland and poorly prepared. Tasteless. But the shakes were pretty good.

Whether you are a longtime resident or casual passerby, this little gem is worthy of a ten minute detour. Located a hop, skip and a jump from Lake Arrowhead, this nondescript little pink building houses some of the best shakes and malts that can be found on the mountain. Inside, the décor attempts to capture the era of the always popular 50’s diner, yet something about the sparse collection of ramshackle autographed photos and news clippings smack of days that left decades ago rather than days gone gently by. A non-functioning jukebox and aging booths further the wistful deliciousness of yesteryear… until the food arrives to snap you and your taste buds back to the present. All items we have tried earn a hardy thumbs up from my crew of enthusiastic eaters, but we especially love: — the Nash Metro, a vegetarian burger that boasts it is voted«best on the mountain». With the generous overload of Swiss, super fresh veggies, and simple but tried and true prep, it is hard to argue the title is justified. — the Tijuana Taxi — a chicken patty with Swiss, grilled onions, tomatoes, ranch, and Ortega chilis. Whether eating the chicken or subbing a veggie patty, this one deserves a moment of silence… as in all are silent as they constantly take giant bites. — the Grilled Chicken Caesar salad — generous almost to a fault… almost. — Onion rings and fries — heaping helpings, and the fries for the kids come out in a little cardboard car for toddlers, a big hit in our family! Watch out, they are piping hot. Speaking of kids, the Mac and cheese… looks like straight-from-the-box Kraft mac and cheese pasta with homemade cheese sauce… but my daughter can’t rave enough about it. Again, served super hot, so watch out for your little ones burning their fingers or tongues. And, last but not least, everyone who comes does themselves a disservice if they don’t try at least one malt or shake. A good sized menu filled with classics, but our favorites are: Root Beer Float Hot Butterscotch Orange Freeze …of course, what flavor all depends on your mood. You can’t really go wrong with anything here, so bring your appetite and adventurous spirit and take a little detour to this little hidden gem in Cedar Glen forest. You won’t be disappointed you did.

The shakes are really good here. You can mix any variety for the same price(about $ 4). We tried the Chocolate with PB and the chocolate, PB and strawberry. Both were very good. Hubby and I both ordered veggie burgers but definitely not my favorite burger. They were okay, just not my cup of tea. We upgraded to onion rings and those were okay. Overall good wasn’t very good. Service could have been better. Staff did not seem happy to be at work. Parking is a nuisance. Nearby businesses have«no parking» signs on the street and the restaurant’s parking is very limited. It’s a very small diner. We circled around for a bit. When we finally got parked we had to wait for a table because it was so packed. It’s hot inside and they have a fan that doesn’t provide much airflow. I would not come here for food. Instead I’d come for a shake or an ice cream Sundae. Prob won’t be back though.

This cute diner is worth a stop if you’re in the area. We rode ATVs next door and dropped by for a quick meal before heading out of town. It’s got«malt shop» in its name, so how can you not order a malt? They’re $ 3.95, there’s a couple dozen flavors, and it’s fulfilling as hell. Throw out the diet and just order it.

VEGETARIANREVIEW: Amazing veggie burger! Incredible onion rings! If you’re vegetarian or have one in your group, this place satisfies everyone, and deserves credit for doing it right. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating every time I’ve been; I have read it’s family owned and operated… And it definitely has that feel(along with paying tribute to the 50’s era diner). As for the burger itself, it’s a garden burger patty, and I suspect it’s deep fried for maximum crispiness. Forget about calories for this meal, because it’s worth it! The burger comes stacked with cheese(I prefer American), lettuce, tomato, special sauce, and both fried and raw onions. And a regular white bun(which I prefer over wheat any day when I’m eating out). The fries are made from whole potatoes(like In N Out, but a bit thicker); however, the onion rings are the real deal! Worth whatever nominal fee for the upgrade. Then there’s the malts, shakes, banana splits, and floats! I personally don’t enjoy ice cream, but my children do. One prefers the root beer float, the other likes the maraschino cherry shake(which I thought was tasty). The banana split is huge and needs at least 3 people to attack it. Price’s are completely reasonable for the nice portions. They also offer«Junior» sizes on shakes and floats, which is helpful with little ones. This place is definitely worth the extra 10 – 20 minute drive to the back of Lake Arrowhead!

Food was delicious! Had the big double cheeseburger, and it comes with double cheese and bacon, an lemme tell you they don’t skimp on the bacon and cheese… everything was fresh from the grill

Would be more, food is good but Soccer moms with kids running around inside and front staff conversing in Spanish while a jug of milk sat out for 20 minutes easy with nobody using it took away from the normally good dining experience here. Staff should be more attentive to customers, customers noisy children and less interested in their cell phones and conversation at the cash register.

Historical place to visit since 1947. Malt shake and burgers! A historical place tucked in Cedar Glenn where you can look around and see antiques and collectables, this is an iconic place for its rich history and very tasty malt shakes they have been making since 1947 with rustic décor bring you back in time.
