I have been here a couple times! When I usually go out for drinks I just end up eating a burger. The first time I received my burger I asked for it well done and it was only medium. It was still good and the food tastes very fresh. Every other time I have been my food has been perfectly made nothing wrong with it at all. If you are going for the drinks. Which you must. They have incredibly priced drinks, and it’s always a great pour as well. This would be the spot for a food/cheap drinks. As for the atmosphere it can be crowded but everyone is so friendly at this location. You can see that the waitresses have regulars that come in, they talk and chat it’s really nice to see that at such a crowded place. Now this isn’t like crazy crowded at least the times I have gone. I would give this place a try if you are looking for reasonably priced food and cheap good drinks!

I love the hopper! I came here with three other people and our bill came out to $ 46. Where can four people go for quality homemade food for a little over $ 10 a person? The staff is very professional and will check up on you as needed. The bartenders give a generous pour on mixed drinks and even the drinks were rather cheap. Great food, drinks, staff! What more can you ask for? If you want a relaxing, not too pricey night out, try The Grasshopper!

The service was slow. The food was mediocre. I finished my shepherds pie only because i was hungry. It did not taste homemade or not fresh. Very greasy not good. It wasnt expensive but I’d rather pay more money for quality food. Once was enough.

Been a customer for 30 years. I have yet to be served a less than above average meal. Family owned and operated, so courtesy is always a given. If you are a sports fan, there is always«your» game on! And don’t even get me started on the drinks! Always a healthy pour! Last but not least, try the wings!!! Brunch is also a plus!

Service is slow, even if the place is almost empty and if you’re not a regular they really don’t seem to treat you with the same attentiveness. Been there a few times and it’s always the same. Haven’t had any of the food but, based on what I’ve seem from what friends have ordered it doesn’t look like anything special. If friends didn’t go there, I certainly wouldn’t.

Everyone has a bar that they call home and this one is mine. Local, family bar where everyone knows your name and you know theirs. It’s a safe place to escape the everyday drab that traps so many. Grab a beer and a stool at the bar, pick up some good conversation and enjoy the rest of your night.

The brunch, the chili, the soda bread… everything we’ve had at The ‘hopper in the past few months since we’ve moved the the area has been great. Sometimes when they’re busy the service can be a bit slow, but their food makes up for it. Still want to check out their trivia night and have a sold night drinking so we can stumble home :)

I haven’t been there in years but I’ll be back. Saturday night, decent sized crowd good service behind the bar and probably some of the best chicken wings I’ve had in a long time. Plenty of TV’s’s to watch the games as well.

Best hamburger in town, among other things. Real«family feel» here. True staple in Cedar Grove. The entire staff took off one day during their shift to attend my father’s wake and also sent beautiful flowers… owners and staff are true class act.

Two friends and I went to The Grasshopper for Sunday lunch today and enjoyed our meal. Each lady each had a different sandwich from the extensive menu and they were tasty and well-served. The waitress was attentive and pleasant and stopped to chat with us. The comfortable atmosphere is tavern/pub-style, neat and pleasant. The menu has a wide choice and the prices are very good. We will definitely be returning.

Great simple Irish and American food. Hamburger came properly cooked with the right amount of grilled flavor on a decent bun. Cold slaw was fresh and tasty. Great cold beer. Service was prompt and friendly.

One word«sigh»…I can remember when this place was«the place to go». Now it just feels like they want this place to close down. We first sat at the bar, and then after 5 minutes with not even acknowledgement from the bartender, we decided to get a table in the dining room. We got our Yuengling pints pretty quickly, but the beer tasted like the tap-lines hadn’t been cleaned in years. To order our appetizer and entrees we had to flag down our waitress everytime. Apparently because we were not«regulars» at this place, we didn’t deserve her time. We ordered some«broccoli bites» which was always a winner, but this time, they were burnt and tasted like fish. My guess is that they cook their fish and chips in the same oil. When our entrees came out, we ordered another beer, but it never came(more on that later). I had a burger which was ok, but again the fries tasted like fish. When we realized the beer that we ordered with our food wasn’t going to come, we asked for the check and figured no harm, no foul. My guess is that when our waitress added up the check she realized that she never brought the beer. She arrived with the check and the missing beer in which we said, «no thanks» to the beer. She walked away with the beer and removed it from our tab. It would’ve been nice if she said, «Sorry about the beer, you know what? This one’s on me» Its not like they can re-serve it. Like I said before we watched tables with«regulars» get far better service than us. It really is a shame, this place used to be good. As another reviewer said, there’s plenty of other local pubs in the area. The Grasshopper in Morristown is still awesome… I just wouldn’t go back to the one in Cedar Grove.

This place is my Cheers. Its my go to bar when I just need to relax and have a beer. The staff is super friendly, they usually hook me up with a drink on the house everytime I’m there. The food is you’re regular bar type of food, nothing special, but tastes great. They have a bunch of big-screen HD t.v.s for all your sport games and what not. If you’re in the area and just don’t feel like going home right away to the wife and kids, stop in at the hopper and kick back with your favorite beverage.

Great pint of Guiness. Good basic food and some very special, specials. Don’t come here looking for trendy food, this is your place to go on a regular basis.

It’s fine. Nothing to write home about but clearly a standard worth trying out if you are in the area. I’d go back but the food is average. I really liked the waitress… but I can’t remember her name. She was sassy. It’s a simple old school joint. You have eaten«here» before I’m sure. I’m sure if you are local it’s a better experience because it seems like a local place.

Unimpressive and uninspired. This is a place that time forgot. While an old school Jersey institution, The Grasshopper felt just that – old. Aside from a sprinkling of young customers, the average age was north of 60. The menu may just be as old and is in definite need of a facelift. Even the«specials» on a xerox insert felt like part of a regular rotation. Feeling hesitant, I went with a burger. The meat was cooked to order, though served on a bun too large, and without the basic accoutrements of lettuce and tomato. The fries looked crisp and well done but were greasy and obviously left under a heat lamp. The server was certainly friendly. Unfortunately she forgot my soup and brought it late. This led to my burger being brought out mid-soup, which is a definite no-no. NEVER bring out the mains before you’ve cleared the aps. That’s just standard procedure and is never tolerable. I don’t see a need to return, with several pubs in the area doing the exact same thing with a far superior result.

Great local bar, the original of four Grasshopper locations, that has a long and storied history. The food is great and the atmosphere is very warm and relaxing. I’ve been coming here with my family for my entire life and I’ve never been disappointed. The tuna melts, burgers, and Irish soda bread are amazing.

I am definitely a fan of the Grasshopper. I love this place for lunch. A great menu with a wide variety of dishes from Irish-American to italian-American to traditional American Pub food. The burgers are great and the buffalo chicken fingers are awesome. I love the waitress here! They are a great bunch of ladies!

The Grasshopper is a popular tavern, always has a crowd(never had to wait for a table), and is a great place to either sit at the bar and watch a game or two(they have several televisions). It’s also swimming with barracuda-like MILFs and assorted pilot fish. The food here is excellent, whether it be fish and chips, shepherds pie or one of the specials — the lobster tails with penne vodka sauce and scallops is tremendous. They serve Guinness in imperial pints, just like Winston Churchill used to drink. Cedar Grove is a forgotten borough outside of West Orange, and I think they want to keep it that way.
