Up Town Nails

I really didn’t like this place. My pedicure was fine, and the women were nice enough. But my manicure was awful! I wanted gel for my fingernails and I wanted very specific colors, but this place had such a limited number of colors that I ended up picking colors that I really don’t care for. Pairing that with the fact that the gel is already peeling less than a week later guarantees that I won’t be back. And the price I paid for their services is what it typically cost at a much nicer place with more colors, better technicians, more services, and complementary drinks

The lady that does the pedicures is good. The nail tech on the other hand is not that great. I have had acrylic nails for well over 15 years and this is by far the worst job ever done. I typically go to Skyline Nails in Arlington but just did not have time today — what a mistake! The lengths all different, as well as, the shapes — wanted oval but some are oval and the other squared with rounded edges. I prefer a thin nail and the right hand was done that way, however; the left is way too thick. Half way I said I was not happy with them which she said she would fix later but I think she gave up and just wanted to get rid of me. When I got home I was able to fix most of the issues myself, but will have to go get some of them redone at my regular salon.
Concerning the place itself, there was a TV going but turned to a soap opera channel. These places has not been open that long, maybe 5 years, but the chairs look like then have been there for 20 –very worn.
Bottom line, if you want a nice pedicure — great place, however; if you want acrylic nails go somewhere else too expensive for what you get.

The place is too quiet, they don’t have music or tv so its awkward even talking to anyone because the whole room can hear your conversation. The ladies are mean and when I asked where their list of services and prices was, they said they didn’t have one but that they would explain it to you once you were sitting in the chair. Too many unknowns make me wonder if the place is even clean, and that’s not something I am willing to guess about and risk my health.

Great service! I usually get Shellac nails and they do an excellent job! They will even do repairs if needed for a minimal cost between appointments if needed. I am a therapist working with kids and sometimes this is necessary.
