Almost don’t want to review because all the delicious tamales and carnitas will go fast ! So I’ve said enough…

La Gaviota is a friendly and lively little family owned grocery store that has fresh produce, meat, cheese and the nicest little restaurant in the back of the store. If you don’t feel like cooking, their homemade burritos, tacos, soups, tamales, and salsas are excellent. The prices are very reasonable, too. Highly recommended!

Great friendly store and restaurant. Great foods and produce. Has become a weekly stop. Definitely worth fighting the road construction. Restaurant food is good and priced right! Take-out or eat in.

Excellent market and always a friendly staff! Definitely worth fighting the construction traffic to get there. Lots of great groceries for the Mexican Food DIY’ers. Everything is always fresh. Home made salsas are the best. I tried copying and I can’t compare to theirs. Best place for any Mexican food needs whether you’re cooking or you want them to cook for you.

I’ve been looking for a Mexican store since I moved to the area. I was extremely excited when I saw their advertisement in a local calendar. Stopped by this weekend and wasn’t disappointing. They store is small, clean, and inviting. It’s no packed to the ceiling like other small stores, which I hate. The owner overheard my wife and I talking about how nice everything was and she talked to us for a little while and explain about the fresh food, tamales, carnitas, etc. Extremely pleasing. Once the holidays are over I’ll be back to try all of that stuff that looked delicious. Also, I’m a fan of Goya products. I was surprised on how this smaller store had more Goya products than Mexican places 3 times their size.

This place is phenomenal!!! Went there for lunch and came out extremely satisfied. I had the tacos and I must say their arrachera tacos are unique. They are made with rice and beans in the tortilla topped off with the skirt steak and jalapeños. The pork stew tacos were also delicious! The staff is very friendly and I would highly recommend this little gem in Cedar Lake.

where else can u get Carnitas and barbacoa. Excellant chorizo and some of the best civiche around. Rib-eyes are a little small but for the price of under $ 4.50 a # you cant go wrong. They don’t try and rip you off with their prices. Krakus ham is always $ 3.99 a #. Unlike Stacks who has it for $ 6.99 a # on sale. Homemade salsa and guac is just as good as I would make. Its about time cedar lake got a real mexican grocery store. Cactus is always fresh

Wonderful little gem. Family owned mercado with all of the essentials: homemade salsa and guacamole, tamales and other prepared goods, along with the typical grocery items. There is a nice-sized selection of meats –try the fajita mix and the chorizo! The prices are always fair, the people are friendly, and the food goes above and beyond expectations. Whether you’re getting a meal to-go, or bringing something home to cook, you will not be disappointed!

Great Mexican grocer. I love going for their Pico de Gallo and guacamole, then to top it off with a coke made with real sugar. They have a great meat counter which is relatively inexpensive. The best veggies for Mexican cooking, plus all the other niceties that remind me of a good mercado in the city. To top it off, they have great food to go!
