We drove down from Wisconsin to surprise my son for his birthday dinner on Friday, Jan. 29th, awesome atmosphere, awesome food. We had the buffalo shrimp and the bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer, they were excellent. Three of us had the petite filets, came just the way we all like them, were tender and had a great flavor and one had the perch. Grandsons had the pasta and chicken strips. The beer was ice cold. A great meal, we will be back.

The lobster bisque soup is incredible. Florida grouper delicious! The holiday martinis alone are worth the trip. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing night out with great food and drink.

Love this place! Their portions are big and the food is great. Everyone raves about their steaks, but their fish is where it’s at in my opinion. The atmosphere is wonderful, the restaurant is always decorated for whatever season it happens to be. The only downside of this place is that they don’t have a dress code, while most people are dressed nicely I always see one or two people who are wearing pajamas or are dressed like thugs.

I was there for a wedding and all I can say is WOW!!! I am a wedding officiant and I am in all kinds of venues. The 2 people in charge of weddings did an amazing job with everything from checking the ceremony site, to making sure everything looked perfect in the reception site. The woman that runs the banquet department even helped the bride down the stairs for her special entrance. The food and service was outstanding. The décor was beautiful, the bartenders were fast and fantastic. I was so impressed with this venue. we had a slight rain starting at the start of the outside ceremony and the staff was amazing. They placed us in their clear enclosed patio and it was stunning! I was so impressed with everything. If I had to choose for my own children a down town Chicago wedding and a wedding at the Light house hands down the Lighthouse. Outstanding food and service, gorgeous venue, attention to detail, outstanding management. If this was a hotel I would rate it a 5 star venue(that is out of 5 starts the hardest rating to get!) I love this venue and ceremonies here are so sweet, romantic and special. Also I would highly recommend their gorgeous restaurant as a fantastic place to date and get engaged! Gosh, it feels good to get out and find some of Indiana’s local hot spots. When you get impulsive and hungry, that’s when you know that Unilocal is calling you to a higher purpose. I heard the calling this weekend. The Unilocal gods led me to the Lighthouse. Unfortunately, our trip to the region was to see my mom in the hospital. As we left, Rob and I decided to find a nice place for dinner rather than eat cafeteria food. We found this place on the Unilocal app and made our way over. Since I used to live in Cedar Lake as a kid, I was curious to see how my old stomping grounds has changed over the years. Wow. Definitely different than what I remember. This lakeshore retreat is decked out in nautical themed décor with country club vibe, minus the pretentiousness. The atmosphere is family friendly as well as romantic. The menu is a selection of seasonal and local finds that allow patrons to sample foods only available in the region. We were asked if we had ever dined here before, and the server showed us their menu and drink list. A taste of a pino gris got me off to a good start. We both started with a French onion soup and a fresh bread basket. The soup was very delicious, and the bread was beautiful. Crispy crust that was warm, soft and fluffy on the inside. Nothing gets my foodie heart a-flutterin’ like fresh, homemade bread. Dinner was another story altogether. Rob had his eye on the ribeye steak, and I opted for the lighter menu. The items on it were 750 calories and under. 6 oz filet mignon and steamed broccoli was quite enough for me, but you can bet your pants that I finished that baby! Rob took more than half of his dinner home in a box. You definitely get you money’s worth here. And because we’re such gluttons, we also had dessert. Tiramasu in a martini glass for yours truly, and a big ol’ honkin’ piece of chocolate cake with two scoops of vanilla ice cream for the hubby. Seriously, this piece of cake can feed four people. You have been warned. We left pretty fat and happy, considering the original purpose of our visit. All I could think of as we left was how much I wanted to take my lovely mama here for her birthday next month! She deserves it.

The gem of northwest Indiana. Being from the area originally, there are not a lot of nice restaurants to choose from. The Lighthouse, however, is the exception. I’ve been here multiple times and every experience has been amazing. If you come here during the summer, I highly recommend grabbing a seat on the patio so you can enjoy the views. Better yet, come on a night where they have live music as well! Even if you’re not wanting to spend a lot of money, this place is still an option. My mom and I have gone on a Wednesday night before, splitting a ½ off bottle of wine and ordering just appetizers. Or if you’re willing to go all out, get some seafood or steak and be prepared to be blown away!

Food is good to excellent, some of the service is indifferent, especially the younger kids they employ. Scenery is fantastic, and the sunset viewing veranda is a treat all it’s own. They tend to pay more attention to couples and families, single females not so much. Music when Jason is there will make the experience that much better… he has a huge range of cover songs that delight. All in all I would go back again, and would recommend to friends as an excellent place to go.

Great food and service! Had a wonderful experience and will return in the near future. The mash-potatoes are out of this world, and should be the only side you get!

My sister had her wedding there and the room was gorgeous and so picturesque. The food was so good too. Bathrooms were clean. I want to go back to the restaurant and try menu items.

Went here over the weekend and thought everything about this place was top notch. We arrived a little bit early and got a couple drinks from the bar even though it was a busy Saturday night the service was great. When we got seated we order the calamari for an appetizer and it was awesome! I really like that they served it with peppers probably some of the best calamari that I’ve had in awhile. For dinner I got a ribeye with a blue cheese crust ordered it medium rare. It was a great piece of meat and it was good to perfection it also came with two sides decided to get the garlic mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables they where both great. She decided to get the salmon that was also cooked and seasoned great. The food here is of good quality and I’m sure we will be back it was a great place for a date night.

The restaurant is located on Cedar Lake. The interior is nautical and the landscaping is beautiful. The menu selection is centered on fish and steaks but they do offer some sandwiches and pizza. I had the Portabella Mushroom sandwich on a ciabata roll. The mushroom had really great grilled flavor. My issue was with the roll which part way into the meal became a soggy mess. My friend had the Top Sirloin with fries and a salad. The salad had too much dressing and way too much sesame oil that over powered the salad. The steak was thick but very tough and not properly seasoned. Overall the steak was a disappointment.

We’re from Chicago so this was a good 2 hour drive away. I was skeptical that such a trek would be worth it, but she had been there before and swears by it so off we went. The view was fantastic, right on the banks of Cedar Lake. We had reservations for 5PM and already, the place was getting full. Not packed but tables were nearing capacity and a line was forming. Our reservation was for inside, but lucky for us, there was a patio table open on a beautiful day and they allowed us to switch. There’s a separate patio menu as they use a smaller kitchen outside, but still had a good selection. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and she had the Caesar Salad, both were great. The side of Cole Slaw I had was delicious and seemed homemade. Dinner and a couple of drinks each(they have decent house wines both red and white) ran us to just under $ 100 tip included. Our waitress was very attentive and checked in with us even though she had a large area to cover. The restaurant also has a west facing view on the lake for beautiful sunsets. It’s a nice break from the city and a great date spot!

Ordered a portobello mushroom burger that seemed like it was marinated with nothing. Very little flavor. Also very disappointed with the waiter, had to wait almost an hour to get our meals and when they came I got the order. The food was ok, but the service really killed it for me. The view is great though.

Attended a Golden Anniversary reception. I was amazed with everything about this place. The food(steak and chicken breast) were delicious… prepared and cooked to perfection. The dance floor is a good size and the view outside by the lake is a great compliment for pictures.

Great spot on the lake, beautiful views, great outdoor seating area. They have a pretty good menu although since we sat out in the outdoor seating area, we were given a different menu than inside because they cook it in the detached kitchen located outdoors. I ordered the ribeye and was a little disappointed. If you’re not going to season the steak, I’m expecting a tasty piece of meat. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Maybe it was just a fluke because everyone else in my party enjoyed their meals. I will be going back and sitting inside this time to enjoy the full menu. I’ve heard their pastas are delicious as well as the walleye. Both of which were unavailable in the outdoor area.

A great and elegant place to eat. Started coming here when they first opened. The quality has not changed with popularity. Of course, much louder and crowded.

I have to add to the accolades for this establishment. We were fortunate enough to be seated in the patio dining room, which was inside but overlooking the lake. The view was gorgeous, and we were able to enjoy the beauty without having to sit in the heat outside. We were so happy to be seated in this area as it was peaceful and calm, while the inside dining room was dark and somewhat noisy. Our service was exemplary; you couldn’t ask for better! Our server was friendly, professional, and spot-on without hovering-that’s a wonderful balancing act! Our party of six was able to relax and enjoy the ambiance and food. We also appreciated the fact that we never felt rushed, even though we were there on a busy Friday night. Our entire group ordered seafood. While the varied entrees were all delicious, the walleye and ahi tuna were a cacophony of taste! The smoked salmon appetizer was so good and so plentiful that it could pass as an entrée. And let’s talk about the chocolate cake… wow. Not only was the cake and its accompanying ice cream rich and gooey and decadent… it was enough for the entire group to share! Wonderful dinner, wonderful evening, wonderful place…
