Arbor Barbers

Arbor Barbers was the second company I called for an estimate and Mike set up an appointment and was able to get the job done a couple of days later. He seems very knowledgeable about trees and landscaping and walked my property with me to explain what work would need to be done and what we could do to maintain our yard. We have 4 younger live oak trees and a small grove of older trees that needed attending too. His quote was significantly more reasonable than the first company and explained that our job didn’t require a larger crew and hauling truck. The first quote I received was nearly double and I assume this is because it was a larger company and would be sending out a crew. I’d usually tend to go with larger companies in terms of liability but the company’s mention of a crew being sent out without arborist supervision of the entire job bothered me. With another helper Mike himself was able to get the job done quickly and were great about the clean up. We are very happy with their work and would call Arbor Barbers again.

I called and set up my appointment with Mike, who answered the phone right away. He met me at my house at the agreed upon day/​time and walked around the property with me, listening and letting me explain what I wanted/​needed. He was very knowledgeable and friendly, and I felt so good about him that I didn’t even call anyone else for an estimate, as his pricing seemed more than fair to me.
On the day of the work he was a little bit late, but was communicative when I checked in via text message. It wasn’t a big deal to me since I was just running errands that day and wasn’t on a set schedule, I’m just including it here for reference. Mike came by and personally trimmed the trees and bigger bushes himself, and when I got home from my errands everything was scaled down nicely and there was minimal debris. A little bit after he left, his guy came by and cleaned up the rest of the smaller debris and mowed/​edged my large, almost ¹⁄₃ acre lot (front and back yards). He was friendly and professional and did nice work as well (although I didn’t catch his name).
I like that Mike wasn’t pushy, and he didn’t try to sell me on a regular contract. He also didn’t refuse to work with me because my yards don’t have sprinklers, which I came across when I was making calls before I reached Arbor Barbers. Overall, I’m happy with the work and will call again the next time I need my yard done. Thank you!

Michael of Arbor Barbers offers a splendid service. He charges reasonable rates and his knowledge of matters botanical is unmatched. I first used his services in 2012 when I needed some work done on trees growing too close to my house. He did an excellent job and prevented further damage to my house. I am now a repeat customer.

This is the 2^nd time I’ve used Arbor Barbers and they are just as good, if not better, than the first time. We had a limb that fell on our house and we called Mike to come out and give us a bid. We had the choice of 1) just getting the limb off the house, 2) taking the limb off at the base where none of its brothers could do any damage, or 3) taking out the whole tree (potentially). The tree is close to the end of it’s life span. Mike inspected the tree and told us it was our choice, but that the tree was healthy and didn’t «need» to be removed. So, we opted to take the major offending branch at a very reasonable price.
When they came to take the limb, one of Mike’s guys noticed that a tree in the front yard had 2 HORRIFIC fractures in it, effecting 2 of the 3 major limbs. Mike came to the job (as he always does) and we discussed the options. Mike hates to take trees out but agreed that taking the offending trunks would leave an unbalanced and fragile tree left. (A tree that realistically only had a few years left before starting to decline.)
We said our farewells, and Mike and his crew carefully took care of not 1 but 2 trees for us, saving our roof from certain damage.
Mike also made recommendations for us on a pecan tree that spans over the back porch area. I’m fairly certain we’ll be using him to do preventative maintenance there so that we ensure the safety of our home, while keeping our beautiful trees intact.
I can’t recommend Mike McCaskill and his team enough. They do outstanding work at a more than reasonable price. They are dedicated to the health and wellbeing of your trees, and they clean up great too! No fuss — no muss.
Mike even made me a list of recommendations for trees we could plant in place of the one we lost. He’s just as good as they come!

These guys are great and I couldn’t believe how quickly they got the job done. More than just tree trimming, they know landscaping and they understand the aesthetics of making your yard look great.

I have used Michael for two different properties. He has been an excellent resource for trimming trees off the house as well as installing grass. I would recommend Michael and his team for any trimming or landscape work. I will be calling him again this fall to trim again. They always do a prompt job and clean up after the work. Anyone in cedar park should definitely call him before doing any tree work

I contacted Michael McCaskill at Arbor Barbers after finding his posting on Craigslist and noticing that he offered free estimates. During the gigantic storm on May 15, my neighbor’s tree had split in half, with half of it falling over the fence and into my yard. I wasn’t sure how to proceed, but thought I’d get an estimate. I got a call back from Michael within two hours and he showed up with his partner Ty to take a look exactly when promised.
After I showed the guys the tree and explained the situation, they offered to talk to my neighbor about splitting the cost of completely removing the hackberry, which I really appreciated since my relationship with the neighbor isn’t very good. Michael and Ty talked to the both of us and negotiated a very fair price with me for removing the part on my property (including hauling the debris) and offered to come back and take care of the neighbor’s side when a decision had been made about what they wanted to do. They got to work right away and were finished with the project in record time.
Super nice guys, reasonable prices, and great response time, even during a period of time where their services were in high demand.
