Had a great experience here. I’m a sushi novice and there was no intimidating feeling of not knowing what to order or the process of ordering or anything like that. The staff was friendly and patient as I stumbled through the menu. We went at happy hour too, which meant the beer and many of the rolls were discounted. We had 5 different rolls in all and saved about $ 6.50 due to the HH discount. We tried the followings rolls and really enjoyed them all: tiger, daichi, crunchy, King and new dragon. The king roll was my favorite roll of the night. We also enjoyed the spicy tatsuta age, which is fried chicken pieces in a great spicy sauce. That was really tasty. They serve $ 3 Kirin and Sapporo during HH, which made the meal even better. We will definitely be returning to try some of the other rolls. I have been converted to a sushi fan.

This place has really creative and delicious rolls and its in a strip mall right by our house. It’s small and unassuming but truly delivers on experience. They have really great attentive service and its kid friendly! They have a cute character kids meal that my daughter loved. Our favorite rolls were kiss of fire and red eye.

Came here because of the reviews… Bad idea. Was very empty and service was slow. Sushi was not very good and didn’t taste fresh. I do not recommend it and careful with fake reviews.

Ok so I’m speaking on this review for my BF as well Bc he’s the true real sushi lover who’s now made me love it too!(Thank You baby:) Wow this is by far the best tasting fresh fish around. It’s not a fancy place but who cares if you’re coming here for the sushi right… very good sushi, very fresh, very tasty, very Frkn awesome, is all I/we have to say. We mostly got nigiri & sashimi. We got the OMG roll which had a little kick of spicy to it & a fabulous cucumber roll. The cucumber roll is very good for someone who is avoiding the extra carbs. With no rice I’ve gotta say my BF absolutely loved this one a lot, we got two of those! It was my fav too! I can’t wait to come back again. The price is about average $ 3 – 4 for a piece of Sushi & about $ 15 for the rolls, so why not try it all like we almost did, u won’t regret coming here.

One-line review: Very authentic, very good food. Being from Japan, I love to go to all the Japanese restaurants in the Austin area, as it’s my favorite type of food. Daichi was recommended to me by a Japanese friend for its authenticity. After visiting, I could not agree more! The service and staff are great(though sometimes may be hard for English speakers to understand), the food is probably the closest I’ve had to fresh sashimi in Austin. Even their unagi don — where the quality of the eel makes or breaks the dish, was delicious! They also have Japanese imported beer and daily specials that rotate.

Hands down, the best sushi in the Cedar Park Area. The owner is very nice and since they are Japanese, the food is authentic as you can get. Excellent sushi and Japanese food. Try the Chirashi, it is fantastic.

Hands down best sushi experience in Austin! Sit at the sushi bar and let the chef/owner Keto work his magic. He’ll surprise you with a delectable pairing of sushi!

Seriously the BEST sushi dining experience I’ve ever had(better than the majority of the fine dining sushi restaurants on the Las Vegas strip). The owner Kato(spelling) was an incredible host, who crafts the most delectable sushi and sashimi I’ve ever eaten. We’ve returned multiple times, and is our go-to spot we love treating our«out of town guest» to. If I could give it 10 stars I would! Bravo!

Wow! This was a beautiful marriage of flavor and atmosphere! Mike created a roll for me that was to die for. Tomo is just simply lovely and accommodating. I felt like we were guests in their home. Edgy atmosphere with traditional tastes. It’s a must try!

Man who would have though Cedar park would have a good sushi place!!! I had the lunch combo C and it was pretty good for Cedar Park TX. Fish was fresh portions were fair and the price was also nice. The service was ok and it was a comfortable enough place for a easy work lunch. I would recommend as a good safe bet for sushi

Wonderful authentic Japanese restaurant. The menu has western Japanese food but they also have authentic dishes so there is something for everyone. The woman who owns the place cares a lot of having the freshest ingredients and watches you to see whether you are enjoying it and have everything you need, not to mention she’s very nice. Lunches come with a bowl of Miso, fresh little salad with very tasty dressing, and a big bowl of rice with pork or chicken with some egg on it for 8 bucks. It’s delicious and cheap. You can’t go wrong. I keep going back until I can try the whole menu. So far, everything has been outstanding. The Sashimi is so fresh that even my 4 year old daughter was chowing down all the raw fish she could fit in her little belly.

This in only«Japanese» restaurant to hear Japanese. I love Chirachi, fish is very flash. I highly recommend to eat sashimi with fresh wasabi. It tastes so good! That is the reason I come here time to time even this place is little bit far from me. :)

My husband and I have been here twice; once on a Wednesday and another time on a Saturday. Both times we arrived at 6ish, the restaurant was half full. By the time we ordered the restaurant was full. One very friendly woman handling about 10 tables of 2 – 4 people. Both times the food was awesome! Happy hour prices before 7 are super! Very fresh, tasty, and such fast service. I really appreciate the small mom and pop shops especially when the food is fantastic quality. We can’t wait to go back for our regular date nights. Thank!

Came back again after couple months. Food is still as good. Tempura Udon is my favorite as the soup is very close to the taste I had in Osaka. Will come back again soon, as I thought trying their yakitori(skewers) and Hokke(broiled mackeral)

Been wanting to go for a long time considering all the solid reviews. The smell of fish hit me when I first walked in – red flag for a sushi place. I went for it anyway. Service was OK, but pricing structure was really messed up. I wanted yellowtail sashimi and spider rolls. No problem getting the sashimi, but the ONLY way to get the spider rolls was to order their Happy Lunch. It worked out because one of my friends took the extra lunch stuff I didn’t want. Still, not being able to just order rolls straight up is kinda stupid. Anyway, the spider rolls were good. Not spectacular, but perfectly fine — I would get them again. The yellow tail was very meh. Didn’t get sick, but if I had never had good hamachi before, this version would not have inspired me to want it again.

You know, there are moments now when I’m seeing signs of my own Unilocal menopause. I could probably come up with a dozen reasons to criticize Daichi, but they all strike me as idle whining. Let’s set some new standards of Unilocal criteria: Did I like this place enough to come back? You bet. And bring you along with me? Bet those rice balls, Bro. If you seriously want me to compare Daichi to Soto or Uchiko, I’ll respond this way: UT is a wonderful institution, but if you’re accepted at Harvard or Yale, pack your bags & wave that skinny ass goodbye. I’m first to admit our sea bass sashimi was an unexpected treat of taste & texture, and for no particular reason, I was getting down on that Asian tartare thing of chopped tuna & quail egg. I’m starting to believe the key to Daichi is not to approach them as another sushi place, but as a genuine mom & pop Japanese restaurant that happens to offer sushi, because they’re expected to. Hey, I enjoy sashimi & nigiri & maki with sexist names as much as the next guy, but as I was slowly eating an amazing bowl of rice, and reminiscing with Tomo & Keita about our favorite donburi, yakitori, & tataki dishes we had growing up, I started wondering, why aren’t we eating that? And apparently that’s a major part of the entire lunch menu here. Well Oppan Nippon style homey, what time we meeting for lunch? Save those pretty fish pieces for the tourists.

Came here based on the solid Unilocal reviews. I was staying up north for a whole week so I decided to give this place a try for lunch. Service was great! The owner(I believe he is) was very attentive, friendly and provided prompt service. The establishment left a pleasant experience for me. There is a huge selection of lunch specials. You can pick and choose what to fill your bento boxes etc. And there are many sushi rolls to choose from. The lunch specials include miso soup and/or a salad. I had the tempura soba noodles. Tasted pretty authentic(can’t get anything similar down south). Definitely will come back again if I happen to be in the area. A gem in Austin. Well since I can’t get decent sushi anywhere near downtown austin except for uchi or uchiko.

Love this place! Since moving to north Austin, I’ve been looking for a good restaurant to have sushi. Although Daichi is not as fancy as nearby Soto, it is owned and managed by Japanese people who know what they are serving. The restaurant reminds me of the small cafes one finds in neighborhoods surrounding Tokyo. The sushi is fresh and although the rolls are heavy on fried shrimp and sauces(not uncommon in Austin), they are well made and generally delicious. I love the Spicy Chicken Tatsuta-age(but ask for the sauce on the side if you are sensitive to spice), the gyoza are good, and the grilled asparagus and bacon skewers are awesome. Love the garlic tuna and the hamachi nigiri. Daichi serves some interesting Japanese craft beers, has a nice selection of sakes, and offers a couple of OK selections for wine. There is a happy hour during the week where much of the sushi is offered at a discounted price, too. This place is worth a try if you are in the area. And there is a frozen custard place in the parking lot of the strip center for dessert afterwards(!). Recommended.
