I’m doing the review on their round rock location(on Sam Bass). So far, I’ve not tried their food yet, but they have the best home made salsa in town. I’m very pleased with their friendly staff. Everybody is so down to earth. Red Onion Market is a small private own market/food service. I don’t believe it’s designed to compete with big chain market on the pricing. It’s for the convenience of the surrounding neighborhood. From what I can see(I go in twice a week to buy their salsa. Did I already mention they have great salsa?), the customers are quite pleased with this place. Personally, I live about 8 – 10 miles away, but I still manage to pay them visits on the weekly basis. I’m always supporting small businesses. So far, they haven’t done anything to turn me away.

Like the previous poster, i was *very* excited to have a new, smaller market and café open in Cedar Park. However, the market has very limited selection and high prices. And as for the café, the service and quality have been downhill ever since the grand opening. On 7 out of 9 visits, my order has been incorrect, and the staff has been progressively less gracious about correcting the problems. On my last visit(which will *be* my last visit), my omelet was wonderful, but i didn’t receive the side of bacon i ordered, and the home fries were burned. Not just a little over done, but black. The waitress took my entire plate away to rectify the issue. They brought it back with the same, now cold, omelet after having new potatoes prepared. The bacon that came with it was barely cooked. No discount on the bill, and when the cook delivered the food, he was surly. Save your money and eat at a chain, or drive into town.

We tried this café for breakfast last weekend and had a good experience. When we arrived, there was only one person in the dining room, reading a paper and drinking coffee, so we were seated and waited on promptly. Food service was quick, as well. We both tried a veggie«scramble.» While the veggies were delicious, the eggs were brown and a little burned tasting. I think it was from overheated butter oil, or a griddle that was too hot, etc. It was edible, but I’ve had much better. Like the other reviewer, we did experience a minor mistake on our order, even though we were the only diners. It was remedied immediately. On our way out, one of the staff members began talking with our young son, so we chatted for a few minutes. I learned this was one of the owners. She was very warm and friendly. In fact, as we were about to leave, she asked if I could use some overripe bananas that she was about to remove from the shelf. I thought that was a really nice gesture. We’ll be back to try some other items on the menu. We sure hope they’ll be successful here!

I wish I could comment on the food. I can’t. My husband and I went in on a Sunday just before lunchtime at 11am, trying to beat the church crowd. The diner was already crowded, but oddly everyone seemed to bear a very distinct familial resemblance to the staff. We were seated easily, but never got menus/drinks/silverware/service. After watching multiple waitstaff pass us directly by for nearly 15 minutes, we got up and walked out. On our way out, a chirpy waitress actually grinned brightly and said, «Thanks for coming!» I stared at her, then just kept walking.

I was really excited to see a local food market/diner come to Cedar Park. I love the convenience of having a local restaurant/market, but unfortunately I’ve been vastly disappointed since it opened. I’ll list some pros/cons and you can decide if you want to try this place Pros — Convenient location at 1431/Lakeline Decent food(when they get your order correct) Good quality items(when in stock) No waiting in café(at least for seating) Plasma TVs in café Very friendly staff — especially the manager Cons — Service at diner is SLOOOOW Every time I’ve eaten there, I’ve had to send my food back for a correction. It’s weird because the MAX number of tables seated when I’ve eaten there is 3, so there’s really no excuse here. Went in for Milk and lunch meat one day. They didn’t have any 2% milk. — This is a market, right? No sliced cheddar cheese??? Isn’t this a deli?
