Entered the restaurant and was not acknowledged for ten minutes. The table was sticky. There was only one other table in the restaurant at the time. 15 minutes into our arrival we get chips and salsa. Salsa tasted like it was out of a can. My friend asked for queso and we did not receive that for another 10 minutes. It was thick and disgusting and tasted kinda like broccoli soup. It made me want to vomit. They start blaring old 90s ballads on the speaker(where is the authentic Mexican music?) We order our food and wait and wait and wait. 30ish minutes later the waitress comes to refill our drinks and we tell her we want our food to go. I was not hungry anymore because of the disgusting cheese. When she brings our food 10 minutes later we decide to each try a taco. She liked her beef taco. I thought my chicken taco was absolutely horrible. It fell apart after I took one bite. The only thing I liked about the place was the waitress. She was really nice but even commented that she was thankful we came in because she had been so bored.

We stopped in for a late Saturday lunch, and were quite pleasantly surprised. The chips were awesome! The salsa reminds me of my own homemade version — thick with alot of vegetable chunks. My husband had the Carribean steak fajitas, and I had the steak taco salad. The food was great. It is hard to find a tasty fajita in Cedar Rapids — and these filled that void. The steak was high-quality, tender, and flavourful. The rice and beans were the best we’ve had in quite a while. The lettuce in the salad was cut funny, but it was fresh and crisp. It may be more fusion cuisine than traditional Mexican, but we weren’t disappointed with anything we had.

I wouldn’t order the tacos or anything with meat. The queso was good, the rest horrible. I suggest only drinks.

Let’s just say, we don’t come here for the food. We’ve been happy with the chicken nachos and love the rojo salsa, which you have to ask for, but the Verde salsa is always spoiled. We do come for great STRONG margaritas. They are cheap and get the job done. It’s always empty, so seating isn’t a problem. Odd like another reviewer says, but it’s worth a shot!

I don’t want to sound like a horrible person but I wanted to give this place a shot and it was absolutely the worst food I’ve ever had. I had the steak tacos and my friend had the chicken tacos. They were seasoned with cinnamon? Then on top of that the rice and black beans had zero seasoning on them and were extremely dry. I don’t want to down this place because it is newer but I’ve never not liked my meal. Not only did we strongly dislike our food we were suppose to get $ off for the special and that didn’t happen either. Beer isn’t cheap. Bad bad experience… Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. On the bright side our waitress Alex was just about the only positive thing about this place.

This has to be the most disappointing meal I’ve had in the last year. The food was horrible. The atmosphere was like a bar with rap music serving Mexican food. I won’t make the same bad choice and never return. The only positive was the unfortunate lady serving the food who was very pleasant.

Talk about a confused restaurant… or is it a bar? Stopped by on a Thursday night for dinner and the place was empty. Brightly lit with a faux-mexican theme that still screams BAR. It was just weird — unfinished concrete floors around and behind the bar area, for instance, give off an industrial ‘DGAF’ vibe. Sports on the tv. Typical beer signage on the walls. You get the idea. The food was alright. Fresh-made chips with a sprinkle of cumin and maybe a dash of cinnamon for flavor, a bit odd but ok. I ordered a burrito which came out on a hot iron skillet like a fajita. The quality of the food was decent, well prepped chicken pieces in the tortilla and a good mix of filler veggies. The presentation was weird though. Not bad just… it felt strange. Mexican restaurant in the Czech village. Like I said… confused. Wouldn’t not go back… wouldn’t think of as first place to go for margaritas either.

Wont be coming back. Owned by the same people as Reds Public House, and it really shows. Might as well call it Mexican Reds, only the food isnt as good. Nothing here is original, and there is no innovation. Chips appetizer was stellar(pretty sure they are the exact same as reds’), but the limited menu narrowed our selection. Chicken was overcooked, dry, and over seasoned. We were really hoping for some great margaritas or Mexican drinks, but we were really let down because there are NONE. We went next door to Red Frog(which coincidentally is under Reds ownership…) which has a better atmosphere.

When Cedar Rapids is full of Mexican joints, if you are going to startup a new business here there’s going to be competition. This is an establishment I won’t be back to –and not because of the service, the servers are doing a fantastic job. The menu is limited to appetizers, tacos, burritos, and fajitas. Nothing wrong with that as long as they are executed perfectly. I typically am fond with smaller menus because it equals fresh products, and they are typically made so often by the cooks that recipes are detailed and homemade/less pre made products. Definitely not the case at Migos. Chips and salsa come out fast, I can taste hot fresh fried tortillas with a great cinnamon based seasoning. Probably the best part of my meal. Great fresh salsa with more than just tomatoes and onions. Then we waited. And waited. Typical table of 5. Not too busy on a Friday at 7:00. 55 minutes later food starts coming out. 1 plate at a time. Plastic white plates that weren’t heated(like most restaurants in this category do) after 10 additional minutes everyone had their food and time to dig in. I had 1 steak and 1 shrimp taco. Came out on flour tortillas that were cold. Beef was like stew meat with a lot of fatty membrane. Shrimp was edible and laden with too much siracha-mayo(please invest in squirt bottles for better distribution of sauces). Guacamole was overly seasoned with bottled lime juice. Side of rice was light pink and void of any flavor. Black beans are a nice touch, not good when they are cold and unseasoned. I want to see this place succeed because the Czech environment is fun and unique. Would come back for nice waitresses, chips and salsa, and a beer. However for dinner, a frozen organic Amy’s entrée from Walmart excels in Mexican flavor than the food here.

New Mexican spot. Great service, all home made food which is good. Limited menu. All the food has the same seasoning on it and everything kind of has the same flavor. If they ease up on seasoning all the food the same it would be excellent!
