Definitely a site worth checking out in CR. Cellar Door is an institution and has been in the area for years. That being said, I’m sure some of the antiques, collectibles, etc., have been here since the shop opened. :) There’s so much to look at, but I can never stay for long. It’s a little too claustrophobic for me and pretty musty. Items are much more pricey here than the Goodwill, Salvation Army or other second hand store. Cellar Door prices are comparable to estate sale prices. 3⁄5 because the bargains just aren’t happenin’ here, but the owners are friendly.

Cellar Door is quite the little antique store seated in the depths of Cedar Rapids. You’re greeted by some very creepy mannequins in the upper windows that I’m pretty sure come alive at night. Inside, the selection is pretty extensive with everything from ninja swords to vintage dolls and plenty of crap that someone probably wants! The upstairs contains about twice as much stuff as downstairs and overall theres probably enough stuff here for you to make your own super hero costume or decorate a creepy old house w/black and white pictures of soulless children, but I digress. The only take cash or check so make sure you’re prepared for it. This was a great place to stop by and kill an hour on a nice afternoon. The folks inside are much for bartering as they kept telling us «the pieces are priced individually» when we asked how much for a set of something. C’est la vie! The lack of really cool items was the only downer for this place, but there was just enough to keep us interested for 45 minutes so it’s worth stopping in — who knows, maybe you’ll find that 80’s mix tape you’ve been looking for!

Cellar Door is a vintage lovers dream. I am absolutely amazed at the variety and amount of STUFF here, but I get really overwhelmed because it is like, jam-packed full. The upstairs is cool, one of the areas has old board games glued to the ceiling. Kids think it’s pretty neat(and some adults, too), I just love that you never know what you’re going to find here, and things are not overpriced like at antique stores, even though many of the items you would find here are totally off the wall and are way more fun and interesting than antiques. Last time I found a Polly Pocket(remember those!?) circa 1995 in the box, and a Giga Pet. My favorite thing about Cellar Door is the memories it brings back about my childhood that I thought I had forgotten. My least favorite thing is the claustrophobia.
