Been a 20+ year customer and have enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere well over 95% of the time. Like any other restaurant there’s turnover but there have been some steady servers like Mary, Ty and Stacy who are rock solid. Then there are those who come in and circumvent the group morale for their own gain and create«clicks.» No need to name names but there are a couple hires within the last two years that are just nasty. Sit at the counter and you’ll hear petty bickering from a skinny redhead and one who’s too proud of her cleavage. This backbiting is hurting the morale and it’s getting worse. What a shame that a couple newcomers are allowed to come in and destroy years of relative harmony. As a customer it isn’t even pleasant to patronize the place anymore and listen to it. Like I said, the food is almost always great. The prices are fair. But the atmosphere is taking a beating. Make a change or Mikaels or Olive Tree aren’t too far away.

First visit. Saturday morning. Efficient, fast and friendly staff. Your typical neighborhood joint serving a great breakfast menu with large servings. I can see myself eating here again if I lived in the neighborhood and could afford the calories. Recommended.

Horrible service, mediocre food. I could cook better breakfast at home and our waitress was SO rude. We will never be returning and suggest you don’t waste your time or money.

Awesome service, we were a pain in the butt and they were very gracious! Food was really good and there were huge portions.

Nice little café spot in one of the older working neighborhoods of CR. The walls are lined with the kind kitsch/flea market trinkets my grandparents used to collect. The menu is straight-up American café and greasy spoon stuff, full breakfast menu and sandwiches, etc. Ice ream and pie too. The service was great and the overall feel of the place is warm and welcoming. Lots of older customers in groups and families, it’s really a nice little place. Price is on the cheaper side, but everything is homemade — I’m told they even smoke their own meats and bacon. Worth a stop.

I keep trying to give this a better review, but I just can’t. Robert from Restaurant Impossible would have a field day in here with the décor. Too much and very divey. Went yesterday and got the hamburger steak dinner. Burger was overcooked and looked unappealing. The gravy was filmy and lumpy. Geez, stir it before you ladle it over the potatoes. Had a bird’s eye view of the kitchen. The cook put everything in the microwave and zapped it. What kind of crap is that? The prices are too much for the diner and with only 1 waitress for the entire restaurant, the service was not so hot. Learned my lesson, will NOT be going back!

Mary and Stacy are great waitresses at this place. Best breakfast place in town for your money. Don’t know much about dinner I am usually working but I’m sure it’s equally great. And mr. Woodburn great guy checks in with his customers make sure everything is going well. Recommend there meat veggie cheese omelets.

Just left this restaurant and I will never go back. The waitress was rude, I don’t remember her name and actually I never recall knowing it. Lots of tattoos she had. It took 45 minutes to get our food the food was horrid … Home fries had NO seasoning what so ever. The hash browns were straight out of a bag and NO seasoning. Eggs Benedict was tasteless and the typical hollandaise sauce for a restaurant(power/water). Pancakes were dry and tasteless as well. I really don’t see how in the hell this place is still slinging hash. The cashier asked how everything was and I replied«no comment». Instead of being concerned she just grabbed up my card and charged the $ 25.35. Sorry owner but you need to fire everyone including the cooks and start with a fresh crew.

We visited this restaurant in July 2013 — it sits across the street from the old Safari Lounge. — We had the best breakfast here and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. If you want GOODFOOD and you’re hungry, eat at Willy’s place… their menu is phenomenal! The inside is just what you’d expect in a sweet little Iowa restaurant… we highly recommend Willy’s. Friends told us about this place after we’d gone to «The BC» on 6th St. This was top-notch… no complaints… :o)
